We had such an amazing time at Mijo! Came here for a sister
We had such an amazing time at Mijo! Came here for a sister night while traveling in from San Francisco, and it did not disappoint. The dinner was absolutely delicious, every bite full of flavor. The ambience really sets the mood--warm, lively, and welcoming. The music was on point and, paired with their margaritas, had us fully activated and enjoying the night. Perfect spot for good vibes, great food, and even better memories. Can't wait to come back! Thank you so much to our wonderful waitress Sandy and James mannn you both made our trip! San Francisco natives stamped this place! Great vibes and dinner love love love!
Historically bad dining experience.
This place took almost 2.5 hours of my time; I actually double checked my Google Timeline as well as timestamps of my text messages before writing this review because I'm still in disbelief it took that long. Just getting a menu took 10 minutes, and another 10 minutes after that for water to be poured. Cocktails did not arrive to the table until nearly an hour after sitting down. About 1.5 hours into service, our waitress came by to let us know that there were already some dishes ready "being kept warm for us", but they apparently preferred to keep us waiting because they wanted to bring everything else at the same time. Apparently dividing a meal into several courses is a revolutionary concept here, because she then asked if we would prefer to have what was ready come out (such a bizarre ask!), and we obviously said yes. Even paying the bill (which came with an auto-20% gratuity for a table of 6) was difficult. We frustratingly could not capture the attention of our waitress despite her being well within our view. She was having a casual conversation at the counter so it's not like she was busy attending to other guests. I ultimately had to personally walk my card up to the counter to get her attention to close out our tab. Food itself was mediocre. The welcome chips and salsa sadly ended up being my favorite thing, followed by the aguachiles. Quesobirria tacos were average, and charging $19 for just 2 of them is flat out silly and somehow made $22 for 3 small lobster tostadas seem quite economical. Porterhouse was super tender but also super bland, and the sauces that came with it (one of which was just their salsa) weren't cohesive. Carne asada fajitas were on par with an average Mexican chain. I just don't know what's going on here. Gorgeous restaurant though.
The customer service was beyond exceptional.
It was evident that our server knew the menu backwards and forwards. She was extremely attentive, very kind and extremely observant. The meal was incredible. I brought two of my colleagues for us to unwind after a very stressful week. Another colleague of mine had recently visited your establishment and they had nothing but positive reviews. This experience completely exceeded our expectations.

Finally checked this spot out for a friend's birthday and sadly, we were very unimpressed. It was a group of 8 of us & we experienced the slowest service I've had in vegas... don't get me wrong, our waitress & servers were very kind but so difficult to wave one down & just to get about everything - menus, water, cocktails, food, the check - ended up being 10 to 30 minute waits in between. For a point of reference, we were situated with our cocktails an hour into our reservation & maybe 30min after that is when we finally started getting our food. We ended being there for almost 2.5 hours. I wish I could say drinks & food were worth the long wait but everything was honestly just ok. - shrimp aguachiles: fresh & tangy - lobster & corn tostadas: yummy & good amount of lobster - porterhouse steak: very tender but honestly so bland, heavily relied on the sauces it was served with for flavor - quesobirria tacos: decent but for 2 tacos a serving, not worth - sangria: strong & balanced Overall, food wasn't worth the price & service at all. Only thing going is that the restaurant is gorgeous. You can definitely find modern Mexican food elsewhere in town.
Amazing vibe! Feels like a vacation at dinner.
Our server was very attentive to us during our meal. The food was great for small apps and delicious drinks! Got the Loteria and it was yummy!
Fantastic appearance, service, and food.
It could not have been much better. Make sure to check out the hidden speakeasy.
THE BEST LOBSTER TACOS EVER! Truly never had such great
THE BEST LOBSTER TACOS EVER! Truly never had such great food like this. Genuinely growing up in Los Angeles, Mexican food is ready available everywhere. But finding a spot where it's a bit elevated and good is very rare. Here they over sell foods that might look good but taste mediocre and not worth the price. Glad to say though, Mijo does the opposite. They provide such good quality food for the price. Will always visit here when I'm in Vegas!

Delicious Mexican food with bold flavors! Everything was fresh, and the tacos were amazing. Highly recommend. The skull-shaped chocolate dessert was absolutely delicious! Rich, smooth, and so fun to eat. A total treat.

Another great experience at Mijo! The food, service, and vibe all on point! Our server Nico took excellent care of us. We had the birra tacos, carne asada, yuca fritas, and street corn. The flavors were so rich and vibrant. Thank you Nico and James for making it a memorable night!
The decor and ambiance is fantastic here.
There are beautiful furnishings, lights and plants all around. It's a really pretty place to hang out. We ordered the tacos and margs special to celebrate a special night out. Unfortunately the tacos don't taste good and the service is underwhelming. We spent most of our time just sitting and waiting for food or drinks. We tried the beef, chicken and avocado tacos. All were just okay but not up expectations - dry, flavorless, greasy meat, chewy tortillas.... I let the staff know that we didn't like it but they kinda blew it off. No manager ever came to the table to see how things went. The little margaritas are really sweet but not too bad. The chips are good and the salsa seems fresh. Mijos is a nice place to take selfies but not a place to spend your hard earned money on food. As soon as I got home I needed Pepto and Tums for an upset stomach. No more for me thanks.
NOT REAL FLAN
We enjoyed the ambiance very much. The sea bass special was divine, but my family members found the enchiladas and the tacos mediocre. I was most disappointed by the so-called flan dessert. Beneath a flamed dark chocolate molded skull was a tiny portion of flan (?) with a small amount of fruit. Not even close to true flan.
Loved Mijo
Amazing food and atmosphere. Everything we ate was amazing and prepared perfectly. We had the charred octopus, carne asada, street corn and shrimp/scallops fuego. We cant wait to come back.
Octopus and steak!
Mijo Modern Mexican restaurant is located inside the newest casino off strip, Durango. It’s part of Clique Hospitality which has many known establishments in Las Vegas and San Diego such as Oxford Social Club, Lionfish, Temaki, Proper Eats just to name a few. No wonder why we fell in love with Mijo’s! It was like entering a dark lush green forrest. You walk through the hall way and immediately see the speakeasy that’s attached, Wax Rabbit. Keep walking and you approach a circular bar in the center. Has a dark ambiance. I only wanted two items, the Octopus and steak. It was too late in the night to order porterhouse or a tomahawk so we got Carne asada skirt steak. Both delicious. The octopus was perfectly charred with chickpeas, potatoes, and light sauce, slightly tender not chewy. The skirt steak was flavorful and paired well with chimichanga sauce. It came with complimentary chips and roasted salsa. Not our favorite salsa so we got a side of guacamole. We skipped out on drinks to save our belly for Wax Rabbit. We will have to come back next time to try their churro flight!
Upscale Mexican Resterant
This is no cheap Taco joint, this Mexican restaurant is a cut above the rest. There is a nice bar and a beautiful outdoor seating area. Lots of heaters for cooler weather as well. A great place for friends, family or special events. If you just want Tacos to satisfy your hunger, go find a food truck but this is a place to go for special occasions.
Beautiful Mexican Restaurant!
Gorgeous Mexican Restaurant located at the stunning Durango Resort . The ambience was beautiful, the server was awesome , and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the Octopus (best I’ve ever had ), and the Gaucamole was delicious.
Doesn't live up to expectations
For as much as we've hears about this place, they certainly didn't live up to the hype. First off, the service from our waiter was not good... we waited to the point where we almost left before she finally arrived with our menus.... then the food was bad... the queso fundido was way too salty and my surf & turf burrito was 85% rice and my wife's beef enchiladas tasted like they were filled with beef paste... now the sangria was potent and my wife was feeling no pain after one drink, so there's that! Overall, I would give them a C- at best...
Love love love
I don’t understand why this place has bad reviews. If you know authentic Mexican food then you cannot complain. We have been to Mijo several times and it has not disappointed. Their drinks are amazing, the food is fresh, more authentic than most Mexican restaurants, and the service has always been on point. I absolutely love this place for brunch, and dinner and we will most definitely be going back.
Modern Mexican with a sexy vibe
While opinions vary widely regarding upscale Mexican Cuisine, particularly as relates to the sort of place launched in an off-Strip Casino by Clique Hospitality, Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant hits it's mark with a sexy set-up, traditional flavors and just enough pizzazz to make it all stand out. Debuted with Durango Casino & Resort in late-2023, a swanky bar and flowered hallway plus servers packed into tight clothes pushing the concept, it is while music bumps overhead that guests are invited to choose from Cocktails featuring Tequila or Mezcal alongside complimentary Chips & Salsa. Headed by Donald Thompson II, fresh off years with Clique at Hearthstone, Mijo focuses on big flavors from the start with appetizers such as Shrimp and Scallops flamed in Liquor or gooey Cheese given a kick by Poblano Peppers. Less impressed by basic Guacamole, though a decent portion for its price, Street Corn comes as a side or blended with Lobster atop a Tostada and outperforms expectations thanks to smokey Chipotle Mayo also offered as dip for fried Yuca. Predictably offering Tacos, both Carnitas and Beef cooked low and slow with robust flavors, those seeking a signature should consider Chef Thompson’s Birria Short Rib that falls from the bone ready to be packed in soft Tortillas before a Consommé bath. Not pumping the brakes for Dessert, “Churro Churro Churro” delivering three flavors plus two Sauces, Diablo Skull En Fuego ups the ante for tableside presentations thanks to a full-size skull melted to reveal Chocolate Flan and macerated Berries.
Terrible
This place was horrible. Should spend more time and energy on the food than on the cute lobby abd its photo opp area. Service was terribly slow. We had three people serving us and no one coordinated. I ordered the breakfast steak with eggs - any way of my choosing. I asked for poached. I got a piece of steak with one random egg off to the side - so cold it had turned hard boiled. That’s all that was in my plate. Took 15 minutes for someone ever come back. I told the waitress who apologized and said they would send out new egg right away. I also asked for some cotija cheese and 10 more minutes later I got a bowl with two hard boiled eggs in it abd a bowl of frozen shredded cheddar cheese. The waitress told me that being from Chicago it was my fault because “I think poached eggs mean something different where you’re from”. A poached egg is a poached egg. When she brought out the salsa she said be careful it’s really spicy. When I asked her about certain foods on the menu being spicy she told me nothing the restaurant made was spicy. Huh?! This place literally sucks. Don’t waste your money.
Aspiring fine dining but not getting there, ok at best
Food was ok even though the shrimps on my shrimp taco were cold. Small servings aspiriring to be fine dining but taste was not more than ok. Loud music that would be ok in a bar/nightclub made conversation hard/impossible during dinner. Table was wobbly and not wiped clean after the guests seated before us, menus sticky and with thumb prints did not feel fresh. Would not go again.
