Personally I found Mishiguene to be very underwhelming, some of the food is so fresh, simple, and delicious (like the hummus). Other items, like many of the main dishes, were bland and everything seemed to be a little potato heavy. The bread was very good though, but the service was slow yet friendly. The ambiance is also very nice, but there are much better restaurants in Buenos Aires that I would personally try over Mishiguene (like Elena or Don Julio).
Be the first to ReplyThe food was delicious & plated beautifully.
Pastrami is worth the hype. The service was oddly rude - was literally mid conversation with friends when the waiter "jokingly" said shut up to me so he could name the dishes he was dropping off ... not sure how that's funny or appropriate in any sense. I love Israeli food so wanted to give this 5/5 but all of the staff was stuffy & our waiter was outright rude.
Be the first to ReplyOkay food in a chaotic setting.
Pastrami was disappointing, under a heavy sauce with mushroom grains (the grains were tasty, pastrami was not). Think frenetic waitstaff with non-stop klezmer music, and tight seating. Not their fault that the Brazilian couple next to us kept loudly shouting random English phrases in our direction, but getting overcharged (think double) at the end after waiting half an hour for the bill was the final nail in the coffin. Yes, I speak Spanish and asked for the bill. We were polite and tried to make the best of a meal we had been looking forward to for months, but at the end we wished we just gone for empanadas.

One of the best meals in the Americas indeed. Sophisticated, delicious, great presentation. Service was superlative; ambiance as well. I wish I lived closer.
Be the first to ReplyI have high standards coming from Israel, and my friends
I have high standards coming from Israel, and my friends who aren't Israeli recommended this restaurant, so I know it's hard to meet my standards (I have only found a few Israeli restaurants I've really enjoyed in the states). Still I don't think Mishiguene is worth the cost. Nothing was outright bad here, but for the price and the hype of this restaurant, I expected more. The service was spectacular at mishiguene, the vibes were exquisite and every dish was plated beautifully, but the dishes themselves weren't great. Here's what I ordered with my thoughts: *Breads- fine but nothing special. The bagel was not a Jerusalem bagel, and the pita was average. I liked the challah slices here with raisins! *babaganoush- did not taste like babaganoush (and not in an elevated way). Was edible but a bit sour? *beba ganoush cocktail- like a Mediterranean Bloody Mary. Pretty but nothing special taste wise *fatoush verde- this was wonderful and very interesting, I loved the melon! *Kibbeh veggie- was more like a burgul salad then a kibbeh, but tasty *dark chocolate tahini tart- very bitter

If want to experience an awesome twist on Jewish dishes this is your place. Everything was amazing. Mke a reservation.
Be the first to ReplySimply extraordinary.
Well executed in each dish detail. Flawless service. Warm inviting room.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolute delight.
Ate dinner twice during my visit to BA, and loved it so much. The chicken liver mousse was amazing, as were the breads. The fish was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyThe baba ganoush is very good with rich tahini tasting.
We also had the pastrami with egg and that's also superb. There's only Spanish on the menu so bring your Google translate and appetite. Pretty big portions.
Be the first to ReplyTraditional Jewish food with Argentinian flare.
Wonderful service (Servers can speak English- no English menu) and incredible, unique food!We spent ~$160-170 USD and could barely finish half our meal! Definitely recommend sharing plates! The Pastron (pastrami brisket over potato latkes with caramelized onion and egg) was TO DIE FOR! **make a reservation vs. walk in dining!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed.
It did not live up to the hype. Food was under seasoned and not exciting. Also very odd to see seafood aka traif at at "Jewish" restaurant. Overpriced for what you get
Be the first to ReplyMe shiguene.
While the Buenos Aires culinary scene has expanded beyond the bife maybe gourmet Jewish/Israeli food is a little bit of a stretch right now, which is probably what happened to the elongated bagels they serve that don't look like bagels and definitely taste like hala. But so does the rest of the bread basket. Is that a pita or you are just hala to see me? We did discover that Argentina has oyster, apparently from Rio Negro or so we've been told. We found the borscht sauce that came with them endearing but someone confused foam with cream cheese, while effective continuing the borscht pun it was just overpowering. The kibbeh get this, not enough meat, how?! In essence Meshiguene is where wealthy Argentinian come to taste something raro and foreigners set their antisemitism aside because this Jews aren't their problem and in any case there aren't many working at the restaurant. Shalom
Be the first to ReplyI would give this place 10 stars if I could.
Service - outstanding. From the way we were greeted, treated, served, to our server's knowledge of the food and its ingredients. Ambiance - great. This place plays iddish music in the background and yet it works!Food - amazing. Starting from the dishes that bring core childhood memories like gifiltefish, to things that I never had before. Simply amazing. I wish there was a Mishiguene in LA...

Having spent a lot of time in Tel Aviv, Beirut, Amman, Cairo, and all over Eastern Europe, I guess I simply wasn't that impressed with Mishiguene's food. I went expecting something amazing and unique from an 'innovative' concept/fusion, however, all I found was 'good' food, overly priced, nicely presented, but with such poor and rude service that I couldn't even warrant a 3 star for this place.

We went last night not on the emptiest of stomachs (as a tourist, it's tough to get hungry here) and yet were all blown away by the quality of the food. Can't imagine how good it could've been had we been starving! Mishiguene is a must go. The baba ghanoush was spectacular, even if you don't like eggplant, this may convert you; the presentation is worth it alone. The pastron on potato latka was perhaps some of the most tender meet I've had; it would make tofu jealous. If you are a vegan, this is the dish to break you. We couldn't finish and took home where it tasted wonderful the next morning, cold. We also shared kibeh, having had success the previous evening with beef tartar as well, and this one knocked it out. Our last dish was a pastry of cheese and other ingredients, whose name eludes me, but it too would make a Frenchie happy. I hope to come back and try other things. Thank you. Toda!
Be the first to ReplySuperb place Food was unique.
The maitre gave us excellent advised on how much and what to order. The service was terrific! the attention to detail, how they addressed us, etc. We had the pastron as main dish and fish small plate as starter. We shared both. The desert was a unique beet icecream that was "para achuparse los dedos" :-) . I was afraid that too much Klezmer music was going to be overwhelming ... I was wrong ... the atmosphere was quite nice.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and presentation are more than fine.
ย The service is only average. Very. I am from the USA but live part time many years in Buenos Aires. ย I do speak fluent Spanish. I am used to just "average service" in Buenos Aires. But at a restaurant of this atmosphere and price, I would not expect mediocre service. Having to wave down the waiter to ask for another drink or even dessert is not acceptable. I wish this restaurant much success in New York City but the service will have to be much better there to have continued success.

Quite close to a perfect dining expereicne from the service to the decor and finally to the fine tasting food. ย If I visit I will make sure to come here.

High class Jewish food? I really had no idea what that meant, but with my parents coming to visit me in Buenos Aires during Rosh Hashanah I figured this was the perfect place to have dinner. We made a reservation at a very American dinner hour - 7pm, right when the restaurant opened. Actually, we got there and they weren't even open yet. But we waited outside and read about the story behind the restaurant - immigrants and the importance of foods. The lights were dim when you walked in and there was klezmer music playing in the background. I knew this was the perfect choice for our Rosh Hashanah dinner. We were the only ones in there for awhile, but then slowly other Jewish families entered to celebrate the New Year. The waiter walked my dad through the menu to help him find something he could eat. My mom settled on the cauliflower stake, I got the shakshuka, and my dad got pastrami. They brought out a bread basket with a bagel and challah (I was in heaven already). Challah has been something I have missed on the road and this was so warm and soft. Our food came and the cauliflower stake's flavor was mouth-watering. As I think about the flavor my mouth is salivating. And then we tried my dad's pastrami...I am not a big fan, but this was so good. We also got dessert and that was the only disappointment in the meal because the Spanish to English translation kind of left you thinking you were getting something else than you actually got. The service became a bit slow as parties started to trickle in. The longest wait we had was to receive dessert and then waiting on the check. My dad got the rest of his meal to go and they ended up adding cheese to it which he can't eat so then they made him a completely new dish, which took an even longer time. The end of the meal kind of overshadowed the calmness we had when we first walked in, but the food was very good.
Be the first to ReplyHost was very rude.
Called a liar. Said emails "didn't go through" despite no error messages and responses on the same chain about reservation time. Worst treatment by a hostess I have gotten anywhere in the world.
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant, and the best restaurant experience, in the
Best restaurant, and the best restaurant experience, in the Buenos Aires. High calibre fine dining, but while many fine restaurants in the city are quiet and serious, Mishiguene was bursting with life when you opened the door. It was like every table was having their own celebration and the meals were the occasion. We had latkas, corned beef brisket which was transcendental, kibbeh, the Baba Ganoush was a whole roasted eggplant and the best I've had, and a white fish sorbet and capicino for desert. Service was delightful and the chef and manager stopped by to check on us. What a memorable time - we left so satisfied that our waitress got us a cigarette from kitchen, we needed it.
Be the first to ReplyJewish food is not really what comes to mind when planning
Jewish food is not really what comes to mind when planning a trip to Buenos Aires, but I'm so glad we gave Mishiguene a try after seeing it on the Latin America 50 Best Restaurants list. The restaurant has a cool sensibility. Lively Jewish music playing in the background, and classic design influences but with a modern style. Walking in, you know you are in store for a fun experience. It feels cozy and relaxed, yet still upscale.Make no mistake, the food is anything but banal. Chef Kalika takes inspiration from traditional flavors but updates them in such an innovative and unique way that our meal ended up being quite memorable. The food is executed with precision and finesse, with robust flavors. In spite of the discerned approach, everything somehow retains a sense of comfort. We ordered:- Bread Basket (Free): Pickled Cucumbers, Sweet Chala with Raisins, Bagel of the Day, Pita, Onion Jelly with Schmaltz & Gribenes- Baba Ganoush (ARS 390): Wood-Smoked Eggplant with Lime, Olive Oil, Tomato Coulis, Toasted Almonds, Tahini- Cauliflower Steak (ARS 450): Grilled Cauliflower, Cauliflower and Gremolata Emulsion, Grilled Chili Peppers, Pickled Onions, Preserved Lemon, Tomato Coulis, Lebaneh and Fried Chickpea Croute- Quail With Farfalach (ARS 520): Glazed Quail, Farfalaj Risotto, Candied Portobello Mushrooms and Glazed Carrots- Baklava (ARS 290): Phillo Pastry Cigars filled with Walnuts and Pistachios, Yogurt Ice Cream, Candied Orange PeelOur waiter suggested about 3 dishes as the appropriate amount to order for two. Icons on the menu (small vs large plate) indicate if the dish is small or large in size. It was just the right amount of food for us, with dessert, though I wish we had gotten to try even more!Wine list had plenty of reasonably priced and interesting options, and we enjoyed the 2015 Montesco Punta Negra Pinot Noir from Mendoza (ARS 540). We started with a glass of the DV Catena Nature Bodega Catena Zapata sparkling wine (ARS 157/gl), which was just alright. There is a cocktail list and wines by the glass, as well.Overall, highly recommended. The pricing is on the higher end compared to other options in BA (and they charge a cover for each person), but for the quality and overall experience, felt justified.Total Cost: ARS 2,689 ~ USD 150 (incl. cover charge of ARS60/person)Credit Cards: AcceptedEnglish: Menu in English and Waitstaff SpeakDress: Upscale Casual (Nice but not dressy).Tipping: Not on credit card, need to leave cash.
