I have been to the Mohonk House several times way in the past enjoying several seasons but I was not prepared to experience how far Mohonk has come from the 1980s. I visited this past Jan 2023 for a Chair Faculty Conference with about 100 people. My room was perfect with a porch, rocking chairs, view of the lake and a working fireplace, excellent shower, comfortable furniture and bed. I asked both nights to have a fire set which it was, in no time, perfectly executed with a friendly person. The food was truly excellent for every meal, plentiful along with the service that was attentive and friendly, we all gave them a round of applause to thank them. Many of from the conference swam laps in the spacious pool with a beautiful view of the mountains. Several of us scheduled a facial, enjoyed the sauna and steam room, outdoor mineral pool that were all professionally maintained and very enjoyable, well organized. Again a lit fireplace and comfortable sitting area. The grounds were open for hiking along with many sitting areas on every level along with a wide variety of locations to sit in front of fires in stately fireplaces. We were attended to for every need and then left alone to have fun exploring the historical features found throughout the building. The location of the conference was comfortable with constant snacks, drinks provided also with beautiful views of the landscape. Bravo to all the effort to provide this unique experience on every detail for so many. I will be back with my family in the near future. Thank you very much for all that is done for a memorable time spent up in the mountains in this historic Inn.

Absolutely beautiful grounds and a great place to spend a day! I love sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch, swimming, kayaking or paddle boarding on the lake, or hiking the Skytop Path or Lemon Squeeze Labyrint/Rock Scramble to get to the most beautiful view in the area! I've never felt the need to stay overnight, but have accessed the grounds many times for day passes. if you're willing to splurge a bit, I highly recommend any service at the spa- you get access to a beautiful and relaxing solarium and a mineral pool! I love to book a brunch buffet there for a special occassion and simply walk around the rest of the day. Definitely check it out when the tulips are in bloom in springtime!

We had a perfect weekend away at the Mohonk Mountain House! The staff were very friendly and everything was very well organized for such a busy place. It snowed while we were there so we got to take advantage of lots of winter activities like snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice skating and snow tubing. The food was delicious, high quality and plentiful. We spent a morning at the spa which was fantastic, a little pricey but the massage was great and the environment was very relaxing. The hotel is beautiful with an old timey charm, lots of areas to sit and read a book by the fire. I hope to be back for another visit soon!
Be the first to ReplyThis was our second time visiting Mohonk.
I thought the first time I might have been overwhelmed by the absolute perfection of the gardens, timber framed pool, spa area and pavilions, the beautifully maintained hiking trails, and delicious food, that I over inflated how amazing it was. We booked again last week to see what it would be like in winter. It was even better! All inclusive White Lotus in the Bahamas with bottomless Mai Tai's it is not. It's far better, and so much more. You arrive and valet service takes you car and bags. The rooms are antiques with fireplaces, balconies over looking the ground and rocking chairs perfect for morning meditations. The food is included, four courses including bread course with matre de hotel butter. Menu is curated to satisfy dietary restrictions but not so expansive as to not be focused. Night time entertainment is sweet and encourages togetherness. It's really a place to be vulnerable and enjoy others company. There is no television, happy hour, or singles dance parties to drown out the sound of your own breathing. It you can't enjoy your own company this may not be the place for you... or maybe you might actually find you do like the quiet night sky and the sound of your own voice after all. I was surprised to find that I did. And I will happily pay the price for that type of peace once a year.

I had a bad experience with the customer service team at Mohonk. I booked a $2,500 room for two nights. It's me and my son who just turned 4. When I booked the room, I saw several ads for Mohonk that "kids stay free". When I called in to make dinner reservations (none were available since I booked the same day) the representative added $350 to my reservation because I mentioned in conversation that my son had just had his 4th birthday. Apparently kids are only free if you call for the reservation. I tried before booking - it went to voicemail. Since I'm not on the promotion the cutoff for free children is 3. I called back in and Christian, the manager, apologized that I was charged without approval but didn't resolve the problem.

Go for the massage, stay for the burger! Kid you not, the burger they make at The Carriage House is the most perfectly-charred classic burger I've had (and I'm burger-obsessed). We came for just the day and got two massages, hung out in the mineral pool, sauna, steam room, and got a la carte lunch at The Carriage House (since the lunch buffet for non-guests is astronomical, literally $270 per person). The burger and the views and mineral pool were the best part. The whole place is so cozy and epic, classic and charming, full of families just relaxing around with books and games for hours - really adorable. Too bad it's so expensive to stay here, but glad we got to spend the day. It's so much more affordable and almost the same experience. We explored New Paltz after and had such a full, fun day. Will be back in the spring for hiking. 5 stars!!!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a cool experience.
I did the horseback riding class, took hikes, celebrated and tried to explore the grounds fully. The staff are incredibly nice and the property has so much to explore. I especially liked the breakfast early in the morning where you can sit on the deck and enjoy the view of the lake. Lots of serenity but I wouldn't recommend coming here if you mind being around kids. Sign up early for the classes because some fill up quickly like archery. Thank you so much, Mohonk Mountain House!
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for the spa and a meal at the carriage house.
I booked a massage for my moms birthday. I highly recommend coming early and spending the entire day. There's so much to explore! I loved my facial- highly recommend. We ate at the carriage house which is more of a bar/ lounge that is separate from their main dining area but it was fantastic!!! I can't say enough about the food. The burger was delicious, the bread was piping hot, and the service was fantastic!!

Ugh. Mohonk has such potential but it's just AWFUL now. The place is in a sad state of disrepair, awnings are ripped, windows are dirty, trash peppers the abundant grounds. Was here 4 years ago for a family reunion - it rained every day for a week so the lake activities were closed but the food was plentiful and available, the kids kept busy scrambling up hiking trails and searching for critters and our rooms were nice enough to retreat to. Cut to now: here with my 84 year old mom for 10 days and to say it's awful is being nice. From the moment we arrived into the utter chaos and ineptitude of the front desk to our fireplace-smoke filled rooms (in July) to the NO BREAD AT LUNCH rule in full effect (despite having servers go to the trouble of setting every table with bread and butter plates) I was ready to peel out of the driveway and head home. A place can only get so far on its fabled history and fantastic setting/scenery. They need to return to their culinary roots and upgrade the rooms already! When paying $895 a night you should be able to expect a semi decent place to lay your head. Also, if the staff was great, none of these things would matter as much but, with the exception of the archery/axe throwing guy, they're not. Grouchy, mopey, "it's not my job, man" people who never smile. Where is Mr. Roark when you need him? When we spoke to Guest Relations all we got in response was a lot of pass the buck and blaming it all on Covid. (Insert eye roll here). I doubt the Smiley twins are smiling.
Be the first to ReplySome of the best food we have ever eaten.
The hiking trails were a lot of fun. The peace and quiet. The social activities. Definitely worth it. 100% would recommend.

Magnificent location and hotel in need of significant capital investment. Balcony outside our room was quite deteriorated. Climate controlsIn room didn't work well. Grounds and outbuildings need work. Food was better than on my previous visit. Dinners were quite good and more inventive than before. Lunch buffet was.....a buffet......crowded and more trouble than it was worth. Hotel needs to offer more a la carte options and move away from the all-inclusive-only model. The place is still charming and a little of its creaky-floor atmosphere is part of what Mohonk is all about. But investment in the infrastructure is needed.
