The atmosphere is elegant and minimalistic in a way that feels high end, but without ever feeling uninviting. If spring and summer could be captured in a restaurant, this would be it. I went with a couple friends for a birthday brunch, and the restaurant is perfect for special occasions, a date night, or just a casual lunch. The service was also attentive and overall very friendly and pleasant. The food is phenomenal, especially given the price and value. Our party had the shokadou bento, the sukiyaki gozen, the wagyu beef tataki and the tsuru no ongaeshi parfait. The restaurant also treated us to the coupe glacee with pear ice cream for a birthday celebration. The portions are generous here, so everything was split among our party of three and we walked out feeling full and content. Every piece in the shokadou bento felt intentionally curated and the fish tasted fresh like it was caught this morning. The spicy salmon roll (roll choice) is among the best I've ever had in my life by virtue of the freshness; the grilled salmon was seasoned and seared to perfection; and sashimi (tuna and yellowtail) were delicious and likewise fresh. The wagyu in the sukiyaki gozen was tender, rich, and exquisite in the umami-rich broth. The tataki was balanced between rich and refreshing; the parfait is a really complex combination of flavors that work together, even when you kind of don't expect it to. As for cocktails, the lychee is simply perfect and strong if that's what you're going for. This experience is easily a 5/5 given the great value for the incredible food. Is it the best sushi I've had in my life? No, but it's certainly high on the list. However, in consideration of the price and the massive portions, the value is simply hard to top. They set the bar high here and it shows!

I went for the Momoya Box and the dining experience was 7/10. The sashimi was ok but I didn't really enjoy the seating space assigned on the second floor. It was too crowded like all tables are almost connected and the low ceiling made the second floor very noisy and hard to have conversations during the dinner. I would recommend everyone to reserve their spot on the first floor.

Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Experience: 5/5Was shopping in the area and have been wanting to try Momoya for a while so was excited when they had some walk in availability. All the fish was very fresh and not served with too much rice. The starters and appetizers are on the smaller side so if you want to share just keep that in mind. Their rolls are very good and the signature rolls are significantly larger than the traditional rolls, but they both come with 6 pieces. The service was very good and the staff were incredibly friendly. The food came out quickly and the servers were very attentive. We loved the jasmine team brulee, it had amazing flavors and was quite unique. What we ordered:* Bluefin toro taretare* Crispy rice signature roll* Meatball and chicken skewer (not on online menu)* Spicy scallop & shrimp signature roll* Yellowtail scallion traditional roll* Eel traditional roll* Jasmine tea bruleeThings to know: * Some walk in available for small parties* Seating on the patio is covered and has heat lamps

Our server, Yisi, was truly incredible - attentive, kind, and all of his recommendations were top notch!

On a Friday afternoon, there's plenty of available seating but we made a reservation in advance. As it was still cold out, we opted for a table indoors but would be nice to try the beautifully decorated outdoor seating.I got the shokadou bento box while my friend chose the momoya box. Both were beautiful in presentation and great in taste with a variety of flavors/texture. Even though each portion doesn't look like a lot but it's definitely a very filling meal after clearing all those boxes. Prices are normal for soho area but abnormal for my wallet so I'll reserve coming here again for special occasions. Nothing blew me away but it was a good, high quality meal. A bummer the brunch sweets were only available on weekends. I would come again on the weekend for dessert!

Came here on a Friday for lunch, and got the beautiful Momoya box! It's a beautiful collection of 9 mini-chirashi. Each one has about 2 pieces of fish and seasoned rice. With this quantity it's definitely a satisfying meal with lots of variety. It was absolutely stunning, but there were a few bowls that fell short of expectations. Scallop and uni did not taste very fresh, and the seared salmon piece's topping was lacking. My favorite bowls were the ikura and the yellowtail bowls. The fatty tuna bowls were also delicious but would've loved some acid to cut that fat a bit. Between the mikan and shiso cocktails, I enjoyed the shiso one more as it had a much brighter and fresh flavor. The mikan one was spicy and I felt would worked better with one of the hot meals. The restaurant is beautifully designed and has A LOT of seating. The waiter here actually provided me the dinner menu as well, but was unable to offer the dinner version of the shokadou bento box, which was a bit disappointing. I'll have to come back and try that next time!

The service ruined this meal for us. And it will be the reason we will never return to this location. Sat quickly and early for our reservation. Perfect. We then sat there long enough, without a server greeting our table, to pick all of our food and drink choices. (**Note to a person considering this restaurant, no liquor license.) Server then returned to check on his own hand writing of the order we had just placed. Drinks came quickly. Sake beverage was delicious. $18 beer came half empty (see picture). Ridiculous. I would have said something but we literally never saw our server again. Food came out quickly as well. Egg roll tapa, crispy rice tuna roll, tuna avocado salad, and potato salad were all very tasty. Chicken tapa was forgettable and the black cod roll was so so. We finished eating. Had the table cleared. Sat at an empty table for almost 20 mins before a manager asked if we were waiting for some reason. All we wanted was our check and to leave at this point. Our original server never came back to the table after checking his hand writing. I paid with a debit card, like ppl do. The machine had an issue table side. It happens. Four tries before it worked. Check my account after we leave and the charges all went through. Now I know three of the charges will fall off in a few days. But the fact I have over $600 in limbo is incredibly frustrating. Never again.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance was a 10/10.
The music and decor was perfect for a girls night out or a date night. Service was a 6/10. Very attentive servers, but come off as trying to rush you and would clean your plate before you were done. Honestly slightly bizarre interactions with severs. Food was a 6.75/10, sushi itself was good and fresh but nothing ground breaking. The serving sizes were small. The wine serving size was outrageous. We ordered 5 glasses of wine instead of the bottle in order to receive more wine per person. Instead we received a bottle to split between 5 people and still charged the individual glass price. Overall a fine experience but nothing phenomenal.
