So, we tried for 2 months to get reservations at Blue Bayou for husband's birthday without success. So we decided to make a reservation here because we have eaten here before and the food is not bad.
We showed up for our reservation, and although plenty of people were leaving we still had to wait a while to be seated.
We got in and the place was cold. I took my jacket off briefly but had to put it back on. And looking around, everyone at every table had their coats/jackets on, and most had wool caps. It was so cold...
We didnt realize that no bread was served (as most Italian restaurants do) so once husband got his salad we ordered, and paid, for bread. Which was good. But it didnt come out until husband was pretty much done with his salad.
I was surprised that my food came out nice and warm considering how cold it was in there.
I had gnocchi and asked for marinara sauce (which they had for other entrees) instead of a meat sauce; apparently this took the waiter by surprise because he kept asking me if I just didnt eat meat, or did I want vegetables, and other strange questions.
Husband had the lasagna. which was warm but not hot. He said it was just lasagna - nothing special or out standing.
The other strange thing was that we had to ask for parmesan cheese for our entrees; and the waiter did bring us a jar of parmesan. I am not sure if it was kept outside, or in the refrigerator, but even that was very cold!
On the way out an older woman employee asked husband if he had already eaten - and then asked what he had and how he liked it. She did not seem to be pleased when he answered that he had the lasagna and it was ok. She responded "just ok?" and he said, "yes, just ok". And she walked away...not sure what that was about.
We did not try any dessert because frankly, it was too cold to stay in that restaurant any longer.
