I'm not sure there is anything unique here.
Nobu is famous for their Miso Black Cod. It's good, but other restaurants also offer it now, and without the $46 price tag. The Yellowtail Jalapeño is also popular, but I have had similar sashimi at other sushi restaurants. The remaining dishes were very plain. The lobster ceviche tasted like a few pieces of lobster and greens haphazardly put together (1 star off). The rolls were flavorless fish with some avocado added (1 star off). The desserts were good, but I could easily get them at a grocery store. My cocktail was also about 1/4 cocktail and 3/4 big ice cubes. For the prices they charge, I was extremely underwhelmed by the quality and flavors. The ambiance is upscale, so maybe it's a good spot to impress a date? The music is on the loud side, so it would be hard to hear your date FYI. So as long as your date has never had sushi and is not deaf of hearing, this might be a good restaurant for you?

What. a. delight. We have never dined at a Nobu before but obviously recognize the name and have heard great things. On a weekend away, we found ourselves a 5 minute stroll from the Hard Rock Hotel where Nobu is located and figured why not. We got there about 15 minutes before they opened with no reservations, hoping to just grab a seat at the bar. There were a few people in front of us waiting to be let in but by the time the doors opened, a long line had formed. We were fortunate to grab the last two seats at the bar. My husband and I both ordered martinis, both were made really well and were delicious. We ordered a few items off of their happy hour menu just for an appetizer before we headed elsewhere for our actual dinner reservation. The quality of the ingredients they use is immediately apparent. The tuna was like butter melting in your mouth and their wasabi was incredible. We were honestly blown away and also mad that we never bothered to visit the Nobu in our own hometown!
Be the first to ReplyNice atmosphere and the staff are all professional.
The steak was so soft. They should change the name from no bu to yes bu.

Been to Nobu few times and will always want to go back when given a chance. Love sashimi . Foods always fresh and flavorful. Love flavored soju, mix drinks , martinis. Gets a little loud especially in the evenings. Nice and less stimulation on midday . Our server was very attentive, checks on us frequent enough just to make sure orders came in , table not full of empty plates. Parking in downtown is always a challenge. There's an ace parking stricture nearby and street parking.

Came here with my fiancé for a belated Valentine's day celebration. Food was good but not worth the price. We have eaten quality fish for much more reasonable prices in the past. Despite good service initially, the waiter spilled an entire plate of soy sauce onto my fiancé's pants while serving another dish. He apologized briefly but we weren't offered anything else aside from a curt "sorry."
Be the first to ReplyCame here for new year's dinner.
It's been years since my last visit, so I was excited to try it out again after all this time. Our group decided to go with a set price per person. We were able to give our waitress a list of items we definitely wanted like the rock shrimp and sashimi, and the chef would figure the rest out. Nearly everything we had was good. The yellowtail jalapeño and rock shrimp were a hit, as was the black cod. The sushi platter was decent and pretty popular amongst my group, but I would have preferred some other items on the menu (like more of the yellowtail). The least favorite was salt and pepper a shrimp, but the hubby liked it! Drinks were tasty and service was good. Overall a pleasant experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Nobu restaurant in San Diego, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The ambiance at Nobu is simply stunning. The sleek and sophisticated decor creates a tranquil and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant's attention to detail is evident in every aspect, from the beautifully arranged tables to the soft lighting that sets the mood just right. Each dish is meticulously prepared and beautifully presented, showcasing the chef's creativity and craftsmanship. One of the highlights of my meal was the Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno. The delicate slices of yellowtail melted in my in my mouth, and the combination of flavors with the jalapeno and yuzu sauce was a perfect balance of heat and citrus. The Black Cod Miso, another signature dish, was equally impressive. The buttery texture of the cod paired with the sweet miso glaze was a match made in heaven. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing an exceptional dining experience. They guided me through the menu, suggesting the best dishes based on my preferences, and made sure that every detail was taken care of. In conclusion, dining at Nobu in San Diego was an absolute delight. The exquisite food, elegant ambiance, and impeccable service make it a must-visit for any food lover. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an extraordinary dining experience, Nobu will exceed your expectations. I can't wait to return and explore more of their culinary wonders.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic! Nobu does not disappoint.
The food was excellent, the service was good, the atmosphere was a bit crowded however since the food is excellent, I can look past the atmosphere.

Loved everything about our celebration in the New Year from ambiance, drinks AND the food!
Be the first to ReplyWent here for my son's birthday.
The ambiance is nothing special. The decorations and interior facade plate average. Service was ok. Our first server had too many tables and was not attentive enough. Someone else took over and did a much better job the rest of the night. The food is very good, but super expensive. Overall I didn't find the restaurant to be worth the $. I would not go back again.
Be the first to ReplyBartender was nice but it was very quiet for a Nobu.
Saturday night at 9pm we were the only 2 at the bar. Definitely not the same scene as other Nobus I've been to. It inside the hard rock hotel
Be the first to ReplyWent here for my birthday and I loved it.
The staff was really nice and the food came out pretty quickly for a Saturday night. I started with shishito peppers with SeaSalt and they were tasty but definitely could have dialed back on the SeaSalt a little. (Hence the 4 stars). Moved on to a soft shell crab roll which was really good. And ended with the rock shrimp tempura which I wish there was a little bit more of haha. So yum!! The Sake was really good too! Besides the good food and lovely staff I am keeping it 4 star because the ac was blasting and it was unnecessarily cold in there. Other than that it was a successful birthday dinner.
Be the first to ReplyDifferent vibe than the other Nobu's I've been to before.
There were children running around and a TV in the bar area.... Not the typical Nobu sceneIt's giving Applebee's

I've always wanted to check out this place and finally I was able too! It's located in the Hardrock Hotel so parking can be a bit interesting. We had a reservation during HH which is M-Sun from 5:30pm-6:30pm. We sat at the sushi bar area. We decided to do the Akaski sour and cucumber martini both were nice and refreshing and we went with the spicy tuna roll and salmon avo roll. All on HH. Everything was good the service was a bit slow. The waiter took awhile to take orders. It seemed like a busy place during HH. Although it was HH the prices are still steep but keep in mind it is Nobu.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service! An experience worth every penny.
The ambiance is perfection.

Miso Cod #1Shared the Omakase amongst 2 people and order a couple other items and we were pretty full after Pricy, but that's to be expected
Be the first to ReplyNobu is a high end chain.
Nice upscale and modern/hip atmosphere. It's actually attached to the Hard Rock Hotel. Food is really good, wine and cocktails are good too! Service is a little slow, but overall it's the kind of place you go with friends so that you should be busy talking versus waiting. Once they get to you the service is polite and professional. Extra points for the King Crab Tempura, that's a first for me. Yum!
Be the first to ReplyCame for happy hour and got a table in the lounge.
They have a nice discount on cocktails during happy hour, but you have to be seated in the bar area to order from the happy hour menu. Alas, it still is not cheap. Our happy hour bill came in over $200! It is definitely very expensive, but you have to know and expect that coming in. Drinks: the pina martini and lychee martini were both spirit forward, tasty cocktails on the happy hour menu. Food: the crispy rice and spicy tuna was my absolute favorite thing we ordered! The combination of the fried rice cubes, dipping sauce and spicy tuna were just delectable. My next favorite was surprisingly the salmon and avocado roll. The black cod butter lettuce wraps were very good as well. The cod has a nice miso marinade on it. We also ordered the yellow scallion cut roll, which was good. The salmon Karashi sumiso was fresh and the sauce was tasty. The yellowfin tuna with ahi Amarillo ponzu was also fresh, but both dishes were incredible small portions. Everything was good, but the thing I'd go back for is the crispy rice dish! We though about ordering the black cod with miso entree, but saw it only came with the fish; no sides. The lettuce cups were the better choice to try a small sample of the fish in my opinion. Ambiance: the restaurant felt very upscale and classy, with dimmed lighting in the evening. Service: the service was outstanding. They took extra care around my shellfish allergy and asked me detailed questions, let me know how my food would be prepared and asked if I had any concerns each step of the way. The waiter gave excellent recommendations and was attentive. Food and drinks came out timely. Plates and drinks were cleared quickly when finished as well. They even let us know happy hour would be ending to see if we wanted to place any final orders from that menu.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly and attentive staff who made me feel welcomed and comfortable.Throughout the evening, our waiter was knowledgeable and accommodating, providing insightful recommendations on the menu and ensuring that our glasses were always full.As for the atmosphere, Nobu's sleek and modern decor set the perfect tone for an intimate and elegant evening. The lighting was just right, creating a warm and inviting ambiance that made me feel right at home. And let's not forget about the food. Each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. From the succulent sushi rolls to the perfectly prepared miso cod, every bite was a culinary masterpiece. It was clear that only the finest and freshest ingredients were used, resulting in dishes that were both visually stunning and delicious.Overall, I cannot recommend Nobu highly enough. The combination of excellent service, stunning atmosphere, and incredible cuisine make it the perfect destination for any special occasion or simply a night out.
Be the first to ReplyOur anniversary dinner this past week was delightful.
Great service and food. My favorite items were the black cod with miso and the king crab tempura. (He would add his wagyu to that list.) I liked the tacos (we had both crab and tuna) and the salad with shitake mushrooms. I could've done without the handrolls (yellowtail with scallions, and shrimp tempura) as they were not that good, relative to the rest of the food.On a sustainability note, why are you still using single-use disposable chopsticks, Nobu?? Did you know that 80 billion are used and tossed away every year?
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food.
We ordered the oysters (sorry, I don't remember what kind of oysters), which came with sauces. They were delicious, and packed with flavor. I just wish they were bigger, these oysters went down so fast! It's funny they also give the top half of shell of the oyster that they shucked, as if to take more space on the plate. Miso black cod, amazing as to be expected. The skin melted in my mouth. Scallop and Brussels sprouts was honestly a hidden gem, I'd recommend to try it! We also surveyed several sashimi orders, and they were incredibly fresh.Service was good, though it would be cool to get more of a "story" of the food to enhance the experience. The place was PACKED, and we sat outside. It seems more like a place for a corporate "treat" rather than a high end restaurant. Everyone there seemed to come from some conference in the city. Beautiful decor though!

To be fully transparent I was a guest of a very generous host. We did a very opulent tasting menu of so many items I can't possibly name them. The experience was over the top. The ambiance is a bit crowded and loud though this is a result of the extreme popularity of this restaurant. Nobu is well know and in many locations. This one excels. We had many great plates. Some of my favorites were the lobster salad, modern sashimi, grilled mushroom salad, king crab, and the lamb chops were amazing. Just when I thought we're done a huge platter of sushi and rolls came out with an incredible super fresh and tasty wide variety. The staff did a great job of taking care of our large and diverse party. Certainly a night to remember
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely a great place for top quality sushi!
Definitely a great place for top quality sushi! Everything we ordered was really great! The best way to order here is to order a bunch of items so that everyone can try each item you order. My favorite thing was the chili garlic shrimp, it had the perfect amount of spicy and zesty in its gravy. The service was excellent and quick! And the music that was playing was groovy house music which is my jam! Definitely a great place to celebrate an occasion!
Be the first to ReplyFirst time trying Nobu as a non-sushi fan.
I came here for the Hot Menu and drinks. Inside was so beautiful and dimly lit which sets the mood--relaxing and intimate vibe. The server was very kind and helpful. He guided us on what was best in the menu.Hopefully I try the cold menu on my next visit!
Be the first to ReplyWe had a really good time at Nobu San Diego Sunday.
The food was excellent especially the Lobster Salad! Nobu is not a cheap meal at all but the food and the ambiance is worth it. Oh and you definitely want to try the seasoned edamame with truffle oil - they come out warm. So yummy. We had chocolate cake with berry banana sorbet - I could have had a bucked of it! Go for a special occasion and enjoy yourself- you've earned it. We spent over $350 and it was worth it!
