This was an amazing place - friendly, leisurely, excellent.
Took my son there when we were both in NYC, and we were both impressed. We shared the Nocello salad, the squid/octopus appetizer and the ravioli first course. I got the paper plane cocktail. It was plenty of food, and all delicious, and less expensive than I imagined it would be.

Family owned Italian restaurant with excellent food. Since it is dark, like all Italian restaurant, their menus light up. It is truly unique and perfect for the situation. We loved every aspect of our food. The salad, soup, garlic bread, and entrees we all stellar. The lentil soup with sausage was a good surprise. The owners came to our table to check on things and welcome us. Pricing was what you would expect for NYC and the quality of food, but it didn't break the bank! They had a lengthy wine list (also lit up) and many interesting cocktails.

I went with 2 friends and as soon we were seated we were treated poorly! We are young 20 and 22 years. The waiter was rude and disrespectful. He was telling other customers how he was annoyed he had to serve us and said other things we didn't hear all of it. We were quiet and didn't ask for anything more than choices off the menu. Even though we felt uncomfortable and mistreated we did the mature thing and tipped him 20%. He didn't even thank us! Needless to say we will never return!

Great intimate seating by the front window for our party of four and a welcoming and very attendant server made our visit memorable. And that's before we even got to the terrific meal, cocktails and wine. A nice, affordable Italian restaurant in an otherwise pricey part of NYC.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing find in NYC while in town for business.
We called on a whim and they graciously hit our group in - Great food and service!
Be the first to ReplyGreat last minute choice when we were going to the theater.
Extensive wine list and drink menu. Food was flavorful and hot. Service was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyA lovely place and solid midtown choice.
Cozy ambience (for which one is grateful in midtown), on-site couple who own the place warmly engage patrons, the bread and olives are a wonderful beginning, the food is good, there's sometimes an off-menu chocolate cake that is to die for. Agree with other reviews that the servers are lacking in warmth and in some cases competence. The owners are so nice they should have servers who reflect that same warmth and who are excellent. There's no excuse for notably subpar service in a place with so many other pluses. Overall though, definitely recommend Nocello.

was visiting NY and we wanted an Italian restaurant that was near the theater district. Three of us went to Nocello and it was very good. The ambience is nice and old world style. The service was excellent. Garlic bread and baked clams appetizer was very good. We had three different pasta dishes which were good but not great. All in all it was very good and not over-priced
Be the first to ReplyVery nice food.
Pleasantly surprised by the risotto special. Great desert. A bit stuffy perhaps but uncrowded, which made it not so bad. Lack of air circulation and tables close together are a New York affliction. Still, the main thing is the food and that was good.

Solid service and a good menu make this a great choice for dining before or after a Broadway show. Reservations needed most nights. Very competent wait staff, good bar and good Italian food.
