We were perhaps expecting too much
Perhaps the expectations of an Ottolenghi restaurant are too high, especially if, like us, you are an absolute fan of his cookbooks. We had reserved weeks in advance and were looking forward to the evening. Unfortunately, the restaurant is very loud, the menu is clear and, contrary to expectations, the dishes were not necessarily unexpected but unexpectedly expensive. The staff tried hard, but unfortunately we went home a little disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyCozy place, incredible food and wine offer
This restaurant is an incredible place, not only for the welcoming but at the same time minimal design, perfectly studied for colours, shapes and symmetries, but also and above all for the food. It constitutes a true adventure of flavors with a menu that continually changes and travels between the Middle East and the Far East, following the seasons and the creativity of the cuisine. Spices and vegetables are celebrated here with care and attention, for a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

Elegant, yet simple style dining. Seating on main floor or community style downstairs. Food was creative and met our gluten free-pescatarian needs. Good wine list!
Be the first to ReplyNever disappoints
Always faultless & fresh. Come here nearly every year when I am back in London and again it never disappoints. The wine list is amazing too
Be the first to ReplyNot Great
Very Expensive for what you get,but half the dishes were tasty, complete rip off wine prices, beer selection poor and eye watering prices,on the plus side waitress did a great job, just a shame i left feeling ripped off and still hungry.
Be the first to ReplyDinner at Nopi
Late afternoon/early evening dinner. Very pleasant ambience and relaxed atmosphere. Staff and our waiter were attentive and pleasant and food was delicious. Style of eating (dishes served when ready rather than in strict order) really suits our preferred way of eating. Special place and wonderful experience.
Be the first to ReplyAn Excellent and Children Friendly Lunch
We were in London for a short vacation and we went at NOPPI as a small family for lunch. We don't usually eat much at lunchtime, so I can't say whether the meal was hearty or not. Though I think we would have ordered two or three extra dishes for dinner. At lunchtime, we didn't order any main courses, but rather a delicious cocktail, various vegetarian dishes and a meat side dish for me. My granddaughter is a picky eater, so she didn't want dessert - although it was delicious - but she did like the burrata. The atmosphere at lunch was very relaxed, and no one frowned when they saw my little girl playing at the table. The service was kind and attentive and the meal left us with a wonderful gustatory memory until the next day. The price seemed more than acceptable, given the quality of the dishes, which seemed to rival those of some of the best "nouvelle cuisine fusion" restaurants we know in Paris or Brussels.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful!!!
Wonderful! My taste buds are still buzzing! Always extraordinary and balanced pairings, the dishes and especially the vegetables are sublime! And what about dessert!!! We shared small plates (count 3/pers) to discover as many dishes as possible, and it was perfect! Looking forward to coming back!
Be the first to ReplySmoke and Mirrors …..
We appreciate quality products are served however in our opinion the price didn’t match the offerings in this instance as a dinner experience. Very disappointing Burrata. Wine list ridiculously expensive - no sound average options offered. Service rough around the edges. Three different people asked if we would like to order wine when we already had some. It had been placed some distance away because of the lack of space. Food was awkwardly served - We didn’t over order but it was hard to fit the plates on the table. Tables and chunky chairs dont help. Mirrored toilets - fun but cramped and unnecessarily complicated. Heavy doors caught two peoples legs. Had been really looking forward to this but we left feeling slightly ripped off, even for the west end location.

Second time here with about a year in between. Vibe and atmosphere unchanged, still almost full every day. This time we sat at the bar, which gives it a little more dynamism. Dishes arrived quickly, still very tasty. Nothing to complain about. Sharing concept. Good wine. London level price.
Be the first to ReplyLittle overpriced... lovely ood though.
Loved this restaurant... having tried to recreate many recipes from the book.. love this style of food...everything on the menu looked and read lovely....my only gripe and so sorry to say this...absolutely no value for money ... slightly overpriced...7.80 for 5 roasted baby potatos ...will say the cod was outstanding... just hard to reconcile food and price...i understand we are in a defining time for hospitality.. but not sure if pricing is the way out....service impeccable....pity.
Be the first to ReplyHusband booked the wrong restaurant and was disappointed with the food
I'd been wanting to go to Ottolenghis for years (was 50 in 2020 when Covid hit so dipped out) and didnt know my husband had booked as a surprise this month to go. I didnt know the Soho restaurant was the more upmarket sister of the other restaurants and we didnt check before hand in all honesty, so this was out fault. The restaurant is nice, smallish inside, the ladies toilets are a little garish with weird mirrors on both the outside and inside of the doors (no-one wants to see themselves sat on the loo!) . The menu is a little odd... only 3 mains listed (1 being veggie - which I am) and the rest is sides or 'Veg'. I didnt fancy the veggie main (Aubergine with polenta) so opted for the Valdeon Cheesecake (in the Veg section) and was going to have a side of new potatoes with tarragon. The rest of my family chose fish as a main and 2 other meat choices from the main options plus some extra 'Veg' choice options. The fish and 4 of the 'Veg' choice options arrived (1 being my main) which was just a small terracotta side dish of melted cheese - not sure why it's called a cheesecake when it's just melted cheese, this was £17's worth of cheese apparently! as my potatoes hadnt arrived i tried a bit of the green bean side (£13 for a few cut up green beans with salsa on top) and some very dry and uninspiring aubergine circles with pomegranate on top (£13). My sister in law ate her fish and a bit of the very small portions of sides, my husband and brother in law had some of the veg to tied them over and then we all sat there with nothing. My husband and brother in law waited 20 mins for their meat mains to arrive along with my potatoes. I wasnt going to eat the potatoes after i'd finished (i was annoyed at this stage) and my sister in law had also finished. We did question the delay on the 2 meat mains and were told 'they just come when ready' - i'm afraid this is not my sort of eating style, it was so awkward to eat when others werent and also sit with an empty plate when others eating. I appreciate perhaps the more upmarket restaurants are about small and dainty tastes of dishes but i was starving when I left and we'd paid £150 per couple. We were not told of this eating style when we arrived and that the dishes come out when ready when we ordered them, we assumed all the mains and sides would come out within minutes of each other (we didnt order starters or desserts). We were not told that what we had ordered would not be enough for 4 people to share. Mostly i'm disappointed with the taste of the food, the aubergine starter was very dry and crispy round the edges. The cheesecake was nice but not worth £17 especially when the waitress told me it had Philadelphia cheese in it! Gutted was so disappointed when my husband paid so much for it but wanted it to be a suprise for me. We should have gone to the Chelsea or Islington ones instead.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, but we felt very rushed. The restaurant needs to concentrate more on a relaxed customer experience.
The food was amazing, the vegetable dishes (celeriac, broad beans, etc) were fantastic. My only complaint is that we felt rushed. We ordered drinks, but the waiters didn’t allow us time to sit and enjoy them before insisting we order our food. The food came quickly and although we told the waiter we were sharing our dishes, they brought the food out almost all at once, rather than one or two dishes at a time. As soon as we finished dinner, they asked us to order dessert. The experience would have been better if we didn’t feel like they wanted us to get up and leave, so they could fit in another seating quickly.
Be the first to ReplyEven better than in cookbooks 👍🏽
Pure ecstasy! How to delight your palate in a relaxed atmosphere. If the choice of Otolenghi restaurants is vast in London and you are staying in hyper, book and go there. Between the à la carte option and the formulas to share, it’s just sublime Cool welcome, simple and nice setting and above all delicious dishes to look and taste. Among the dishes to remember, spicy fish, chicken, beets and rhubarb dessert We're going back tomorrow 🤔

A little Gem of a restaurant. Food absolutely outstanding ...... utterly exquisite. Service impeccable with wonderful suggestions from our waitress. Our family of 5 had a wonderful luncheon and an absolutely fabulous experience. Thank you so much.
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointing
As a staunch Ottolenghi fan, my goodness I was disappointed by the food here. Three of the four dishes we ordered were unbearably sweet - I would say the cauliflower dish was verging on inedible. The duck main was chewy and fatty, which was SO disappointing for a £40.00 main course. I felt hassled to order by our waitress but then waited ages for food and my friend and I ate at separate times due to the ‘food coming when it’s ready’ brand of service. In fact our broccoli side came well after we’d both finished our mains. The restaurant is chic but I’m afraid I would not dream of returning because I simply didn’t enjoy any of the food. I also left hungry and stopped at Pret on the way home…. A very disappointing way to spend £85 a head.

If you enjoy, small plates, covered in strong flavours covered in soy, then this is the place for you. Service was attentive, but didn’t know anything about the dishes, apart from the fact we had to order lots?
Be the first to Reply5 star food 1 star service !
All of the food was incredible, really special and exactly what you would expect and hope for from a high end restaurant - pork belly, spring chicken, parsnip salad, pumpkin, sweet potato, mung bean fritter , all incredible and each dish simple but surprising in taste and flavour. Unfortunately the meal with friends was ruined but what can only be described as dreadful service , dreadful from the moment we ordered drinks - time for drinks to arrive (inc just water for the table), times we were asked whether we wanted drinks while waiting for the drinks we were already waiting for, white wine not chilled, not available (they keep it away from the table ), spilling the drinks, dropping the food, food not coming together (inc the chicken main which came last , on its own after everything else), attitude of staff (some not all) when concerns raised towards the end of the dreadful service. Amazing cooking completely ruined by shocking service. Be warned , the wine list is pricey - 1 bottle at £30 and then everything else >£50.
Be the first to ReplyJust don’t go!!!
My friends and I were looking forward to our catch up and having good food but all we ended up was a big bill! Sitting area was bad. They sat us downstairs where they stored their food, staff rushed us to order and in the middle of eating took our dishes away!!! Not a good experience at all. Even for me that I eat small portion, the dishes were ridiculously small and stupidly expensive! So won’t go back there ever again and mainly the way the staff treated us and ruined our night. Even we had to wait a long time till someone bothered to come with card machine so we could pay!!
Be the first to ReplyOK, not great
We were very excited to visit NOPI and selected it for an important birthday celebration. Things started downhill with a wrong drink order that likely got lost in the very large amount of restaurant background noise. Suggestion: have the server state back to you your order to ensure they got it right. Then our ordered tapas arrived, one by one by one. My main course lamb was too rare for lamb and the server did not ask how I wanted it cooked. Our potato order was missed, again likely due to the noise, and came out last. This was after we called it to their attention. The flavors were great, though not spectacular. All in all, an average meal at a very hyped restaurant.

Dinner for 4 on an early Friday evening. Excellent service started at the entrance where coats were taken and it continued throughout the restaurant. As first time guests advice was provided on the amount of plates to order for sharing and it was perfect. We were a mixed table of meat , fish and vegetable eaters but there was enough choice for all. Your tongue will be embraced by wonderful flavours. Food arrives as it’s cooked so it’s a continuous feast. The atmosphere was busy but light and efficient. The bathroom facilities are an interesting curiosity and I won’t say more as it adds to the overall wonder. Highly recommend a visit
Be the first to ReplyIf you want to be ripper off: go to this restaurant.
Outside off the building: beautifull. Inside: rumours like an ordinary Mac Donalds. Tables: far too small. Food:all tastes like made with addition off glutamaat (flavourenhancer), being VERY UNNATURAL strong. Quality was very low. The portions were very small. Wine: as bad as wine sometimes can be and far too cold! Servants: not well educated to do there jobs. Nopi should be ashamed!

We were expecting something because we love otto lenghi’s food. In the first 5 minutes we were there 4 different people asked if we had any allergies even though we already indicated when reserving the table. The atmosphere is a little bit hectic with everybody moving around constantly (staff and guests). The first dishes were okay. Then we had chicken that didn’t come off the bone it was so bad, so we couldn’t eat it. The oxtail was chewy and very hard to eat. The food was cold too. The waiters were very nice about it. The deserts were very good. All in all not what we expected.
Be the first to ReplyNice tastes - fast in, fast out
We went there for a pre-theatre meal at 17 which meant the table was booked for 1.5 hrs. This we knew and suited our schedule. The aperitifs arrived and a couple of minutes later also the first dishes. We had barely had a sip of our aperitifs. Plates came all super fast, also the hot main course, even if it had been agreed that the warm “starters” would come a bit later with the main course that we were going to share as well. Finally at that point we had finished the aperitifs and got to order wine to go with the food that was left. The waiter was helpful and let us taste a couple of alternatives. Then the other waitress came and told us we had 30 mins left and we should think about the dessert. We skipped the dessert. Even if we knew all the bookings made before 18 are for 1.5 hrs we had a feeling they were trying to get us out in 30 mins. And they would have succeeded if we had not decided to just sit in peace and enjoy the wine. The food was nice, interesting tastes, beautifully served, like it should be for the prices. Not top quality, but extremely good. The fast in, fast out concept made us give 3 stars.

Went my sister for her birthday. We love the cookery books, and I’m very familiar with the food style but we were very disappointed with the food we were served on the day. The portions were tiny, the flavours very odd, and the only dish that I really liked was the cheese tart.
Do you add insult to injury, my sister received a ‘happy birthday’ decorated dessert with a candle in it, which actually turned out to be my dessert which was then handed to me once she had blown the candle out on it. Not terribly hygienic especially in the face of a pandemic.
Won’t be going back sadly
