odo New York Reviews from The Last Year
Ambiance: Intimate beautiful setting in a cool bar area
Ambiance: Intimate beautiful setting in a cool bar area with front row seats to watch them prepare our meals. Service: Okay. They only had 1 server to accommodate all of the guests, around 10 or so of us. And he was spread a bit thin. Not enough time for attention to detail for each guest in a Michelin star restaurant. Also I noticed the chef had a habit of resetting his chopsticks to prepare the food by tapping them against the prep table every time. I didn't think that was very sanitary considering this was a 2 Michelin star establishment. Food Pros: I was overall satisfied with my meals and everything was generally good and creative. My favorite was the strawberry sakura dessert, a light end to my experience. It wasn't too sweet but very flavorful and creative. The rice dish was my second favorite and I appreciated the refills, I was too full to need any, but it's nice for others. And third favorite, was the seasoned sashimi. Least favorite was the Spanish mackerel with broccolini and gellee. The fish was good by itself, but it came paired with a side of vegetables and gel topping that was very overpowering. It was a lot of flavors in one dish, that I couldn't help but wanted it a bit simpler. Cons: No surprise dish or wow factor. Maybe it was the shabu shabu. But because I'm Asian that eats hot pot all the time, it wasn't enough of a wow factor for me, but it might be for others. No special gifts or candies/chocolates in the end or a printed menu which I always appreciate to have after my meal. I want to have a reminder of what I ate. I noticed they change their menu often, so I wonder what dishes they had before because I don't see why this was awarded 2 stars.
What an amazing experience.
I booked a seat for lunch which is a tasting menu. I arrived and was sat almost immediately. There's only 14 seats at the bar. Six of us sat at 2:15 pm. The staff, was very professional and the chef and his sous chef worked in silence. They worked really well together. Every dish was complex with multiple things in it. Once greeted, I got water and was asked if I'd like anything to drink. The server had a couple of great recommendations. I ordered a delicious dry sake. Then, one by one, the dishes came. I can't even name half the things because they were all complex dishes. But the soup with the sea bream and the sashimi were my favorite. I think a picture is with a thousand words, so I'll post those dishes. The service was wonderful! And I even loved the toilets, with a sophisticated bidet. Overall, great experience and I totally get why they have 2 Michelin stars
It's very amazing Japan restaurant I never seen.
I love the service here is was great and the food is good. we went there on lunch time with 5 courses. Everything the chef make is fresh and look beautiful. And yum

I went to Odo for lunch, and I'd say that the portion they gave is enough to leave you full for dinner. The entire time I was here, the chefs have been busy preparing for my food, and the pace they are in is timed right so that you will get specific course at specific time after you finish your last course. I really enjoyed that the food here tastes similar to a delicious home-cooked meal. My favorite is the duck with truffles and persimmons, as it was a combination of smoky from the truffles and meat and lightly sweet and cool jelly texture from the persimmons. The wagyu beef with soba noodles is a nice mixture of warm soup along with chilled noodles. Additionally, the chirashi is nice and crispy with each ingredient retaining its taste and playing a significant role into the chirashi's overall taste. The uni and caviar is not that memorable, as it isn't the best uni dish that I've had, but it is soft and don't have an overpowering taste. The fish soup with vegetables is nice and refreshing, though the bit of citrus aftertaste is a bit unnecessary. Last but not least, I really enjoy the strawberry ice cream, as the strawberry is fresh and not too sweet nor sour. Service is okay. My server is nice, though even though I had water, she reminded me to provide a tip. My jacket got dirty between the time I hand out my jacket for storage to when I was leaving, so I guess they need to either clean their place better or have a better handling of their customer's belongings. Overall, food is 8.2/10, rounded up for the value.
Regrettably, I experienced severe health issues shortly
Regrettably, I experienced severe health issues shortly after my meal, which have been medically confirmed as food poisoning. This unfortunate incident has compelled me to question the food safety standards and customer service practices at your Michelin-starred restaurant. Customers of a Michelin-rated restaurant expect not just an exceptional culinary experience but also high standards of food safety and respectful treatment. Sadly, my experience fell short of these expectations. Moreover, the level of service I encountered during my visit did not reflect the care and professionalism one would anticipate.
Disappointed.
Food was horrible very very bad. Crab was frozen, sashimi was ok, Soup was nothing taste, Soba was not enough cooked. also, they said white truffle but it was summer truffle. I can't believe. Never come back.
Such an amazing meal I can't stress enough of you enjoy
Such an amazing meal I can't stress enough of you enjoy flavor and technique driven food then get yourself a reservation!!!
The whole course is perfect.
I loved them so much. This restaurant is worth for 2-Michelin star restaurant. The service and the environment are gorgeous.
this review is for their lunch counter seating course.
i've heard of odo back when they had 1 michelin star, but when they got to 2, i felt like I had to give them a try. odo was amazing. every dish was so good and it reminded me of my time in japan. the price of their lunch is so reasonable ($145 at the time of this review). if you're familiar with nyc fine dining, you know duck is commonly used as the protein course for most restaurants and it gets boring. but for odo, the chef paired it with persimmons and black truffles and it was amazing and easily the most memorable duck dish I've had. service was friendly as well but not over the top, which I prefer. definitely need to come back for their dinner course.
Food is alright but not the way I like.
The service is good and environment is nice. Here the pictures of the dishes. The duck is my favorite. The rest is ok. I only have one bite of the dessert. I am a dessert lover but I didn't really like their dessert. May be just not for me.
