In spite of the reviews that are less than 5 stars, there isn't a single bad thing you can say about Olivia other than their parking situation is awful, but if you're going to take stars away for that, than everything in Tampa that isn't at a mall is 1 star. Second trip to Olivia. First one was a while back for an anniversary. Olivia is maybe the perfect Italian restaurant in that it has not only a regular menu but also a gluten free and a vegan menu. So for my wife and I, it has everything. Anyway, on that trip, I got a bunch of things whose names I can't remember-a bourbon cocktail and a gluten free mushroom pasta dish with a cream sauce and I remember it al being superb. We also split a Margherita pizza, and I don't recall if it was gluten free or not but I do recall it being delicious. This trip we split a vegan salad. Again, I don't remember the name but it's the won with the crispy chickpeas. My wife thought it needed salt but I disagree. I thought it was perfect as is. I also got a seafood pasta dish with long gluten free noodles. Has shrimp and lobster and salami too, which is an odd combo but it really worked. The sauce was amazing. Finally, I got a glass of Pinot Grigio which I didn't love but that's okay, nothing is perfect. Olivia has a contemporary design and very open feel to it. During the day, it is bright and full of light, and perfect for a business dinner or a date night. The service is superb. They do have a parking lot but not nearly enough spaces, so expect to valet. It is free but of course there's the obligatory tip. There really isn't anywhere else to park in the area so you won't have a choice. Parking issues aside, Olivia is awesome. Chris Ponte - the executive chef here and at Ponte Modern - is a wizard in the kitchen and the amazing thing is that he's good at everything. Whether you can eat anything or have a dairy or gluten issue or are vegetarian or vegan, his menus have something delicious for everyone, and not just one or two options. Entire menus of options. We recently found out he is opening another Olivia close to us in downtown Saint Pete, which just means that our go to date night italian - Il Ritorno - is about to get replaced.
