Ora Viva Porto Reviews
Absolute MUST try!!!
Stunning food, fabulous setting, calm atmosphere. This place is a hidden gem! Itβs small (about 7 tables), it is fantastic food cooked beautifully. Generous portions with so much flavour! This cute family run restaurant is a must go for somewhere to eat! Very good pricing, we had 3 course meal and 2 small wine bottles for Β£60!!! Truly spoilt by experience, thoroughly recommend!
A gem of a restaurant, one street back from the busy riverside cafe's.
Called here just as it opened and we were warmly greeted by the owner who showed us to a nice table. Fresh fish is the best, I had Sea Bream and my wife had the Salmon both of which came with potatoes and some vegetables. We had a bottle of wine and a large bottle of sparkling water. This was one of the best lunches we had in Portugal and it came to 51 Euro's in total although I left 60 Euro's as we enjoyed it so much. We were not rushed and the owner explained the family history of the restaurant to us even though it was busy. If ever in Porto I would definitely make a return visit here. One tip, there are only a small number of tables (maybe 8 or 10) and people were waiting outside in a queue for a table to become free so arrive at opening time or make a reservation.
The staff was unbelievably rude.
We were 12 minutes late to our dinner reservation because we were stuck in traffic. We called the restaurant when. we were on our way, and they gave away our table. We then had to wait over 30 minutes for a table.
So disappointed! I had read such good things about
So disappointed! I had read such good things about Restaurante Ora Viva on travel websites but was sorely disappointed when I ate at this restaurant on my final evening in Porto, Portugal. The ambiance was non-existent. Paper napkins and flatware delivered to my table in a paper bag. Bright lights and butcher paper on the table top. The food was simply plain. Unseasoned rice, potatoes and steamed cabbage, a thin slice of fried pork with a fried egg on top of it. Unremarkable. In addition, I was charged β¬3.50 for plain bread rolls (no extra seasonings, nuts or other sprinkles) and butter. The food was edible but far from delicious. Truly, find another restaurant if you want to enjoy a night out at a nice establishment.
This is a local Portuguese jewel.
The food was delicious and respectful of the genuine Portuguese traditional cuisine. The service was great as well as the red house wine. The desert "Baba de Camello"is a MUST to try. Don't think about the name. It's like a dulce de leche mouse. Truly unforgettable. Un Saturday, the star is "Tripa al estilo Porto"........

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Ora Viva Porto at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Ora Viva Porto page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* MaternalRecord73, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* MaternalRecord73 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to MaternalRecord73 for any questions Peter may have as MaternalRecord73 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* MaternalRecord73 now uses their connections at Ora Viva Porto to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If MaternalRecord73 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, MaternalRecord73 receives the $200 reward which is credited to MaternalRecord73's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Ora Viva Porto!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
