the meal started off good with the hamachi crudo. lots of flavor: good balance of heat from the aguachile, vinagrette was salty and sour, ice plant was refreshing, hamachi was sweet. great balance of flavors. the satsuki rice risotto dish was pretty good as well, i liked the flavor and the presentation of it. the risotto was flavorful, uni was nice and creamy, and abalone was a nice touch.the seared scallop was very confusing. it was just vegetables below a single scallop? very plain dish. all the small bites were pretty disappointing though. the tuna with passion fruit purée was very plain, while the next small bite with the fermented cabbage was wayyyyy too sour. then the goat cheese and honey just didn't pair well because the goat cheese was too cheesy(and that's coming from someone that loves cheese). duck pasta was also very disappointing: pasta was hard and flavorless and duck confit just tasted like regular duck meatyuzu curd was pretty good, but final bites were meh as well.i think overall, some good dishes saved this from being a much lower rating. the small bites and most of the dishes didn't really work well, and i actually disliked some of them to the point where i didn't want to finish them; i don't think i've ever actually DISLIKED a dish at a michelin place before, at worst i just thought they were good but nothing special). it didn't feel like there was a variety of flavors; everything basically tasted the same in the end.
