Competitive eating at its best! But maybe not in the way you might be thinking. This is a reservations-only restaurant with a small amount of tables, so the competition to snag one is fairly fierce. WORTH EVERY EFFORT. The facility is unassuming, an older home converted into a dining experience, but one that will blow your mind. The care, quality, and thought put into the menu is impeccable, the service on par with the highest of haute cuisine. With an ever changing menu, I can't confidently recommend specific items, but I can say whatever you choose might be the best thing you've ever eaten. We started with arancino then shared the tagliatelle bolognese and corzetti with a rabbit and iberico pork sausage. We topped it off with a vanilla bean semifredo with amarena cherries that I actually dreamed about that night! I stated following them on Instagram (@osteriamuro) so I could relieve the dream! Highly recommend.

Grazie mille!!!! My mouth waters while I write this thinking about the food again. Food - 10/10 Atmosphere - 8.5/10 Service - 9/10 first night, 10/10 second night. My husband booked a reservation two nights in a row one for date night for us and the second to invite some friends. You know when you stuff yourself on a type of food you're like "I can wait a while to have Chinese again" but not for this place. I couldn't wait to go back... and it was authentic and delicious. I didn't feel gross after like a lot of other places. It was SO flavorful, good portions, creatively put together. We truly felt like we were in Italy all over again Antipasti - we got burrata, spicy and sweet. Delicious. Arancini was soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside, cheesy. Three per order. We got the bigger order of Salumi, was plentiful for up to 4 I'd say. With 6 people we had one piece each of a meat. Primi - tagliente bolognese was DELISH. And I got a pasta dish both nights, different ones, and perfecto. Chefs kiss. On the el dente side which I love. Dolci - WOW. We literally tried every option and you cannot go wrong. Torta della nonna was SO FRICKIN GOOD. As was the Gelato, which was rich, creamy, I had the Orange which was sweet and a little bitter, tasted so good. Could not find anything like it anywhere. Atmosphere - in a cute house like restaurant. Smaller, there's like 10 tables inside so if you're with one other person you'll have another couple on each side of you which is fine. Simple interior. But I can't for the food so I don't really care, it's cute, quaint and simple. Service was great but just truly exceptional our second night with Elsa. She was so friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. She explained all options of the primi without even asking which was very helpful. Reservations - are in advance and we had to set an alarm and go on otherwise you're at a loss, which yes can be frustrating but it is what it is. They keep their restaurant what it is, small and special.
Be the first to ReplyYes it's very hard to get a reservation.
... But there is a reason. We have now been twice since it opened and both time have had spectacular meals, service and overall experience. Having been to many fine dining establishments in DFW it is beyond me how this place doesn't get the recognition and notoriety of some of the others. Step for step this is as good and better than all the major players. The focaccia, charcuterie, pasta, desserts, wine, service, ambiance this is easily the best meal going. Kudos to chef and the team.

There is no greater dining experience in Denton - hell - in DFW than Osteria il Muro. Everything on the menu is made in-house daily from scratch, and the menu changes, if slightly, every single night. Service wise, it doesn't get better. Each server we've had walks us through the menu with such care and passion, accommodating our tastes and our guest's dietary needs. It truly feels special, like the meal you order was created and embellished just for you! The food is, no exaggeration, some of if not the most authentic, delicious and enchanting Italian we've had. Because the menu changes all the time, I can only recommend what we had that night, which would be the tajarin with black truffle and mushroom, the pork special, the cavatelli, and the oxtail tortelli - all blew us away. The cured meats were delectable, the burrata is a must. Always start with the focaccia! No exceptions. Wine and beer list available, but they also accommodate BYOB with a $35 corkage fee. Reservations open up every 2 months, and book quickly! It is 10000% worth it, and every time we experience it, I always can't wait to return! Can we nominate for a Michelin star??
Be the first to ReplyWe had a great dinner.
It was a bit of a trick to get in for a reservation. They open up reservations every so often and they fill up for a couple months (high demand but intimate dining area. We saw a note the day off that space had opened in their outside covered and heated dining area so we jumped on the chance. Wait staff was excellent, food was excellent. Well worth the extra steps and prior planning.
Be the first to ReplyNever disappoints.
Fresh, delicious, and worth every penny. Our waitress was so knowledgable and every recommendation was perfection. I can't wait to go back again.
Be the first to ReplyWe absolutely love this place.
..getting in is very difficult...you truly have to keep a watch on the open reservation post and book right away...otherwise you'll have to get on a wait list every day. It's so worth the wait though...been here 4 times and never disappointed...service, food, atmosphere you name it, completely on point!!

Another amazing meal at Osteria Il Muro! The focaccia is a must...you may be tempted to overlook it but that would be a huge mistake! We had the speck crostini as an appetizer and loved every bite! The combination of creamy cheese, salty ham, apple and mustard seed drizzle on top of crusty sourdough was brilliant! I had the truffle pappardelle with beef shank ragu and was in heaven! My husband had the tagliatelle bolognese and raved about it! We boxed about half to save room for the always stellar desserts. We enjoyed a chocolate bonet with amaretti and crรจme fresh which paired perfectly with our Montepulciano and could not resist the blood orange bombolini too. The warm citrusy donuts were on a bed of marscapone that added creaminess to every bite. It's no wonder reservations for this gem get scooped up in seconds!

A friend recommended this restaurant, mentioned how difficult it can be to get reservations. My friend loves Italian food. I was determined to get 2 reservations and I did. I love the overall environment, and the food was authentically top tier. We had the focaccia, salumi misti, seafood gimella, the house special which was short ribs, and bonet for dessert. It did not disappoint. However, at the end of our dinner the manager James delivered our receipt and his demeanor was not as appetizing as the food we had just enjoyed. Maybe my expectations were too high because Belen said it was a finale, I expected to be asked about my first experience at the restaurant or my thoughts on the food. Our server Belen was amazing and knowledgeable about all the dishes. I decided to gift my 2nd reservations to a friend. I hope they have a greater experience.
Be the first to ReplyUnique intimate dining experience.
Food has always been the highlight here, for good reason but the entire dining experience is absolutely perfect. Service is impeccable. Don't miss this!

AMAZING! I really wanted this place to be worthy of the hype and it was! It took me forever to figure out the reservations, but my husband and I finally got in. It is a super small place, but that will hopefully keep the quality high. Next time I will take pictures!

Wow! Yes! Wasn't sure if the hype was real or due to the fact reservations are hard to come by. Hands down one of the best meals in the metroplex. Wine selection was robust, and the small menu proved huge on flavorful and thoughtful dishes. Everything we tasted was top notch . Favorites were the focaccia, coppa, tortelli, and arancini. Delicious!

5 Star Service from our lovely waitress and manager James! Delicious food, a nice casual vibe while also being intimate. Unique dishes loved it all!

Service - always great!Ambiance - needs work, too many tables squeezed into a very small space. It is quite loud to the point that it is sometimes difficult to hear your server or carry on a conversation with people at your own table. Our server even commented to us that they too struggle with the volume at times.... The music they play also does not help (yacht rock doesn't exactly give off the right vibe).Food - they have some consistent items on the menu, especially the appetizers. The pastas can be great but also mediocre (read: not deserving of the hype). Other entrees seem to be fine. We've been multiple times and I think it's safe to say that it is wise to avoid the specials due to consistency issues.Overall it's a great place, especially considering there's no real competition for proper Italian food in Denton but, based on multiple experiences, I do not feel it warrants the current hype or waitlist. People seem to be enamored with exclusivity and therefore they are willing to overlook quality and/or consistency.. I wish them luck but we don't plan to return again until they make some improvements.

Ambiance/Atmosphere food and service are all outstanding here. The Sourdough bread is probably the best I've ever had in my life! Seriously!!
Be the first to ReplyBest meal I've ever had in my entire life.
Anyone that says anything different and gives this place less than five stars knows nothing about food and probably thinks McDonald's is good.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and excellent service.
Very cute place in an old home with about 9 tables. Starters The bread-, really good Arancini- very tasty. Had a nice sauce. Was a bit heavy to have two and then eat a ton of pasta. But really good. PastasPaccheri * wild mushroom trifolata * pancetta * parmigiano reggiano: this was really good. I'm not a mushroom guy, but I didn't mind the mushrooms and honestly probably wouldn't have known it had mushrooms if you didn't tell me. Very flavorful dish. Tagliatelle alla bolognese * parmigiano reggiano * rosemary oil: really really good. Not your typical bolognese as it wasn't a red sauce. I really enjoyed it. Bucatini gigante * tomato sugo * burrata * Calabrian chili oil: this was only dish I didn't think was great. The pasta was cooked extremely well, I just wasn't a fan of the sauce. Desserts Salted chocolate tart * hazelnut shortbread * whipped crรจme fraรฎche: really really good. Stracciatella gelato: huge serving and excellent. Excellent service. I forgot our servers name, but he was excellent. He did a great job describing every item on the menu. I will be back.
Be the first to ReplyWe managed to get a reservation here awhile back.
Great service and knowledgeable service staff, The descriptions of the food were elaborate and extensive, but frankly the food wasn't anything special. If I'm spending $100/person, I think I should be blown away by the food. To be truly honest, I have had very few expensive meals that I thought were worth it. It seems that hype is expensive.
Be the first to ReplyThe service and meal were amazing.
Our waitress walked us through every dish on the menu with great detail to where we felt confident that we could make our meal choices with ease. Her service was personable and informative. The food itself was out of this world. Both bold and delicate flavors in every dish made our experience unforgettable. We look forward to coming back again!
