Small seafood restaurant but worth the drive to
This is a small restaurant situated in one of the oldest buildings just at the harbour in Port Isaac. Fixed price 4 course menu beautifully cooked and presented very well, and served by friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff. Definitely worth the drive to if you are in the area.
Be the first to ReplyNo surprises….
Your expectations are high when visiting Michelin quality eateries and this was no exception: small room by the harbour very welcoming and efficient staff. Tapas style food which was top drawer. Only constructive criticism was lack of greens to accompany the food. The dover sole was quite buttery? and needed something to help fit through it. Apart from that top drawer….

We visited in February, and had a wonderful dinner, the food is fabulous, but the speed with which we were ushered out of the restaurant to make way for the second sitting was rather upsetting, especially since we had just spent a great deal of money and we were on time for our table. Our server said they couldn't offer us any coffee as they needed the table back - must be nice to be so popular you not have to worry about customer service.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent lunch
We had lunch here today and it was fabulous in every way. The food was stunning, beautifully prepared and presented, the house white wine was more than acceptable and the staff charming and attentive. One of our party has issues with some ingredients about which the restaurant had been advised, and every effort was made to accommodate this. Ok it is expensive, but well worth it. And we had the entertainment of the Doc Martin Christmas special being filmed in the sunshine on the Platt outside, complete with Christmas trees and a live Turkey!

I wanted theatre
We ate here then the following night at the new road .
I probably preferred this . I’m not super brave with fish but most of my most memorable meals have been fish .
The first three courses however were raw so if you struggle with that as a texture beware . I loved the spicy crumbed monk fish and Dover sole . Service was relaxed but proficient I just wanted to know more about the dishes and to feel some theatre .
Really good though
I have thought about whether
I have thought about whether or not write a review. I write this in the hope it helps those creating the menus and dining experience in the future. I love Nathan and his ethos and even more than that I love fish. I don’t even mind the quant little set up it’s part of the makeup of the town. But we left feeling a deflated and a bit ripped off. The fish is the best quality as you’d expect and well cooked. But as a taster menu it’s boring and underwhelming …. All were quite similar small piece of fish, slaw dollop of yogurt. Lacking imagination. No shellfish either …. For £80 surely there should be some premium fish in the mix. We all felt that the £50 mark would be more appropriate but still more variety needed ….. is this the same tasting menu served to Michelin inspectors? Next day we had a banging meal at The Masons Arms over the Devon border, a Michelin star pub … cost half the price and no comparison in every way possible ….. anyway make up your own mind and see what you think

Went here on the first night of our package deal. Absolutely stunning food and a lovely cosy restaurant. Very filling so I’d recommend a light lunch beforehand. Loved the wine pairing. We’ll be back! Thank you. Lovely customer service.

Beautiful tasting menu, based on the freshest fish and skilfully cooked with very minimal but lovely accompaniments. Delightful and quaint , lovely atmosphere and really good service. A memorable evening and highly recommended.

We had booked the gastro weekend two years ago, but due to CV19 this had been delayed.
The menu was now a fixed menu of 5 very small plates with no carbs and minimal vegetables. The prices was not reflective of this. So we agree with previous reports.
Having experienced Nathan Outlaws restaurants both here and in London we were disappointed that the fabulous standards were no longer being demonstrated,
The staff were great but the menu let the gastro experience down and sadly we shall not be recommending a visit to others.
We left hungry, disappointed and underwhelmed by the lacklustre food.
But mostly we left disappointed because what was once a fabulous place to eat at was no longer.
First class Dinner
we went on a foodie break which we have done before and the standards are superb, an excellent selection of small courses, well-priced wines, and great service. Not cheap but great value.
