This was my first time to Pierre Sang's "new" restaurant, and it was pretty great. I came for Sunday lunch with my mom and sister (who is not the most adventurous eater, and wasn't happy with us when we explained the "guess what you just ate" concept here). We were lucky to snag three seats in a row along the bar so could watch the chefs do their thing. We started with a ceviche of maigre on a bed of quinoa with radishes, pickled onion, and a green (bean?) purée. This was the perfect summer dish, as it was super fresh, light and citrusy (and my sister actually finished before either me or my mom...despite her earlier protests to being here). We moved onto a main course of tiny, perfectly cooked pieces of red mullet for the non-meat eaters, and a generous piece of beef for my mom, served with mashed potatoes, amazing veggies (shiitake and green beans and peppers), purple potato chips, and arugula. I could eat those shiitakes and mash every day, they were so amazing...also guess who cleaned her plate the fastest yet again this time (little sister was begrudgingly loving it). Last was dessert where we had an olive oil and lemon based desert with limoncello ice, baby meringues, and fresh watermelon. Again, a perfect dessert for a hot day. For 25 euros this menu is a steal. Also the staff is great- super friendly and answered all the questions we had. We are coming back next week for dinner and I can't wait to see what we'll have (we heard the menu for this week will be unreal, so you should go try it out).
