Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse Edina Reviews from The Last Year
The service is always great, and so is the food.
We always get the scallops benedict, it is something different and soooo good.
Business travelers and work group type of a place.
Super pricey but good high quality stuff. Good service and generally speaking a lot of what you're paying is for the unnecessary stuff. Like the decor and many workers, etc. i was very happy with my simple and on the healthy side seared sea bass dish. Also it was good to taste uniquely baked larger than you ever seen hash brown. The cocktails were good. My old fashioned was specifically strong and served its purpose well.
came in to celebrate a birthday for my friend.
ordered the wedge salad and cocktail shrimp to start. Both were yummy. then for our main meals we got a ribeye and filet. My ribeye that was medium rare was far from impressive. Tough and more closer to the medium temp. The filet was also dry, tough and over cooked. Don't recommend getting steaks here unless you are looking for an overpriced chewy piece of meat. I have worked in the service industry for over a decade in a 4 star 5 diamond restaurant and I know good food. This was not. The service was also subpar.
Went with a work group.
The food was quite good for a chain steak joint. I got the chowder soup which was a little salty and I love salt. Steaks at the table was good. I tried the miso sea bass which was really good... tasted a lot like Roy's butterfish. Huge portion of fish for the price. Shared sides- hash browns and Brussels were greasy and delicious. We also had dessert, key lime banana and the chocolate cake. All were good. The service was very good. Ambiance was a bit loud but no different from all the other chain places.
The service was a little slow, especially since it was
The service was a little slow, especially since it was lunch and many tables were empty. The waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable. The place was fine, but the prices were very high. My girlfriends and I knew it was kinda pricey; but we figured it was a luncheon, so it should be less. We wanted to try someplace new. Food was good, but a long wait. Had to ask for our checks (which took 20-30 to get) but when we finally got our checks...we noticed a MANDATORY 5% benefits service charge! What? We asked about it, and was told it could not be removed. Asked to speak to manager and she gave us the same reply - Yes, it's mandatory charge for the staff's benefits! Wait, they are your employees, why should your customers pay an establishment's employee benefits. It was to cover their tip, (which we pay anyway) and a $100 gift card, and their health benefits! The manager would not delete the charge. Very poor policy in my eyes and will not ever return! This is not acceptable to make customers pay for something that is the restaurant's responsibility. Period!
BEWARE OF BENEFITS SERVICE CHARGE!
The restaurant is fine, our waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable, food was good, service a little slow waiting for our check though. My issue was the MANDATORY 5% BENEFITS SERVICE CHARGE I objected to. I do not feel it is a customer's responsibility to pay the establishments benefits for their employees. We requested this charge to be deleted and they outright refused to. The manager tried to explain, this charge is for their tip (which we would already pay) and for a $100 gift card for each employee, and their health benefits. It is the establishments responsibility to pay for their employee's benefits. I will not go to Pittsburgh ever again. This is totally not right especially since their prices I felt were already too high to begin with.
Super disappointing.
.. again. This is a steak place, so it should live and die on the strength of its steak. And sadly, I think it should be put out to pasture. My wife and 14 &12 year olds visited on Feb 18 for my wife's birthday. I'm a ribeye guy so i was either going to get the aged ribeye (boneless) or cowboy ribeye (bone-in). Both looked awesome and thick cut in the display case on the way in. And both looked great and thick cut on the cart that the server showed us. I went with the aged ribeye. When it arrived, it was not the thick cut version I was expecting. But rather a thin, Sizler type. I mentioned that I've had this problem previously, and the server asked what she could do. I asked for the cowboy ribeye instead if it would be thick cut. She said it was and got the order in right away. The new steak came out pretty quick, but the bone in version was still a thin cut steak. I ate it, but I did talk to the server later and told her I was disappointed, particularly because both the display case and dinner cart showed good cuts, but I was served bad cuts. I told her I've had this problem previously and she responded that this happens sometimes. The restaurant doesn't cut the meat; it comes pre-cut. The rest of the food at our table was really good. But I can make good, thin steaks at home. I come to Pittsburgh Blue expecting high quality thick cut steaks, and they just cannot deliver consistently. Sadly, I will not be back.
It's been a minute- couple two three?? Eric is still here!
It's been a minute- couple two three?? Eric is still here! We missed BIG Ben who just left ..., there are no word to describe his (Eric) absolute top notch 10 star customer service . Couldn't photo our appetizers - super delicious had to scarf- sorry my darling yelpers. What a gift to roll in , belly up to the bar and enjoy a fabulous time of service, food and entertainment! It hasn't changed.., Constant , constant EVERYTHING
Service was poor
Unfortunately the service was terrible, almost non existent. We (2) sat down & were told by a server "looks like 20 minutes left for Happy Hour", then we did not get service for 15 minutes. We got out Happy Hour order in with someone new & ordered some Apps.. Someone new brought our drinks and it was over a half hour before we saw him again, If we had gotten some service we would have had one more drink & dinner. The server came but & I said just bring the bill. This is the first time in my life I left no tip at all, I did not like doing that. I wrote on the tip line "Service was poor". The apps. were just OK
Would never go there again.
They think a small filet should look like a pancake, that's right, about 3/4 inches think!
Ambience is nice.
Takes forever. We are sitting at the bar. Ordered drinks and a menu. 22 Minutes later the drinks show up. Still no menu. We are AT THE BAR. He apologized but we left without eating since he took care of everyone who sat down after us. We only had four hours and who knows.
To start the bread was so good! I ordered the bone in
To start the bread was so good! I ordered the bone in ribeye and it was absolutely flavorful and tender. Ordered it medium plus, and the did not disappoint. The drinks were great as well! And customer service was top tier. My boyfriend took me out to dinner and we requested handicap seating, and they were the first restaurant to fully accommodate and have everything ready for us as soon as we arrived! Would love to visit again!
5 star service / 1 star food
First off, the staff and service is top notch. They deserve better than to serve the under-seasoned, under-cooked food that was brought out. The calamari was limp and cold, the steak was bland, and the greens in the salad were brown around the edges. Truly terrible food.
This place never disappoints
Business diner. Had the coffee crusted filet and crab legs. Both were fabulous. Service as usual is exceptional. Also ordered the Tabasco hash browns. Expect a pricey dinner for two. No alcohol and bill was $375 for two. Crab legs are $110 so it adds up.
