I’ll gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today.
The burgers are definitely homemade and delicious. Slaw was good if like me you prefer yours with a vinegar base. Reasonably priced. Quick service.

Hal, the bartender, was great. Very attentive. Normal bar food, decent sandwiches at reasonable prices.
Be the first to ReplyReasonably priced across from the convention center
Basic food for the stomach. Felt more like a bar than a cafe. The staff was thin, but, handled easily the large number of people from the convention center. Tip, only high seating chairs at the bar and all the tables. Seating is for 40ish. The food is not from a chef, but good, tasty, quick and reasonable.

This is a very simple local bar, great priced drinks, very good value. It also serves sandwiches which I'm told are very good. Usually holds trivia night on a Monday. Great fun place and friendly staff.
Be the first to ReplyNice easy place for lunch between meetings at the conference center
Nice place, with OK food. Just had a quick lunch and it was fine. Nothing special I have to say, and the chairs were bar chars and not very comfortable in my opinion.

I admit that Plum Street Cafe looks a bit shabby from the outside....well, on the inside as well but try it! The food is good, the burger is the best thing on the menu. It's not huge but they get their ground beef daily from Findlay Market. The Plum St hoagie is also delish. If you're looking for a lighter, go for the warm goat cheese salad with chicken. Man, do they know how to cook a breast of chicken! It's always juicy and tender and never dry. I prefer it with balsamic rather than the raspberry balsamic dressing. The cole slaw is a little to soupy for me. There's a full bar with a selection of beers on tap. The waitstaff is friendly and amenable.
Be the first to ReplyBar not a cafe
This is comparable to a small bar. Dark with limited menu. Thought we would have breakfast and coffee....don't recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for lunch
I ate here while working at a conference in the Duke Convention Center because I needed a break from the cafeteria food and was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and made fresh by a cook - not a microwave. I had a cup of cream of potato soup and a half BLT and it was reasonably priced as well as delicious. I will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyGood Choice when at the Duke Energy Convention Center
Had 90 minutes for lunch during a work convention and this restaurant is right across the street. It is small (40 chairs, give or take) but the food was good and the service was pretty quick, given the rush of customers. The waitresses told us the convention center usually informs them when a conference is scheduled but they didn't know we were in town . . . and we filled the restaurant. The staff was upfront about the time it would take to prepare lunch and even referred some potential customers to nearby restaurants - not something many restaurants would do. I had the "Famous" Plum Street Hoagie with a bag of chips. I would definitely order it again and I would come back for a quick, not-so-fancy lunch that hit the spot.

Great local hangout with friendly people. Great drink specials. Make sure you stop at door, doesn't look open from street.
