Nothing short of phenomenal!
We visited Restaurant möntergade in March, and again tonight they hit the nail RIGHT on the head, the food and service were SPOT ON! nothing short of a phenomenal experience. We came with such a short interval that the menu was the same, but that's ok, because just like the art of Louisiana, the food at Restaurant Møntergade can be enjoyed again and again. We will definitely come again Thanks for a great evening
Be the first to ReplyStrongly recommend the iconic dish
The photo 1 and 2 is the iconic dish. The photo 1 is great for the texture if you consider put the sauce on it. The photo 2 is good as well.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic lunch
We chose the Easter lunch menu and it was completely a super experience, it tasted fantastic and the service was top notch. Can only be recommended to others..
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best lunches I've had!
Where to start...one of the most excellent lunches I've ever had?! Danish food served impeccably with a modern twist, complimented by a smart, upmarket but accessible environment and really friendly, excellent service! On our last visit I had the Trio of Pickled Herring smorrebrod with an excellent sherry-casked akavit, followed by my first experience with a traditionally-served Beef Tartare. Both were phenomenal - how anyone can come to Denmark and claim it's just pastries is beyond me, and this restaurant proves it in spades. Much the same as most of the better establishments in Copenhagen, if you're coming from the UK with a bad exchange rate, this can feel an "expensive" place to eat - but the quality, service and flavour is beyond reproach. We've eaten here twice and considered it great value for the experience we had. I can't recommend it enough.
Be the first to ReplyFeels like home… THE place for smørrebrød
It had been 2 months since our last visit and finally ‘back home’. Always a pleasure, always great service and food and already booked our next visit in 3 weeks. You have to make a reservation and you’ll not regret it.
Be the first to ReplyA taste of Copenhagen
If you want a taste of Copenhagen come here. Food was delicious and staff very helpful when we asked for recommendations. Would highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyElegant and refined restaurant
Almost an elegant French brasserie, located in the Danish capital, which however also serves traditional local dishes. All in a refined environment and with impeccable service. Excellent cellar and price in line with city standards. Advised
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming
Unfortunately we were underwhelmed by this restaurant. Lets start with the hostess - when we arrived, she was on the phone for a long time and we were left standing and waiting and waiting. When she finished, she did not even speak to us, no hello, no sorry to have kept you waiting, nothing. So we spoke first and said we had a reservation for lunch. She took us to the table and pointed to where we can hang our coats. Fortunately a different member of the team explained the menu and took our order and he was very professional. The hostess reappeared to take our plates when the smørrebrød were finished, silence, did not ask if we enjoyed them, nothing. Maybe she had already used up her "be nice to customers" quota for the year. Or had expended all her energy with her friends and kids sitting at the next table, hugging, chatting etc. We did not want hugging or chatting but some civility towards paying customers would have been nice. The finale to our unwelcome presence in this restaurant was the bill. No one said we had to go to the bar to pay. Others paid at the table. So after sitting for a while and realising no one was coming, we decided to go find out how we pay. This is a restaurant recommended in the Guide Michelin. The fried herring smørrebrød was really small, the bread slightly soggy but the flavours were good. The fried plaice smørrebrød again was small but this was a better one and the last one which was roast beef with remoulade was the best in terms of taste and portion size. Even if there was a civilised welcome by the hostess, it would not have changed our view that the smørrebrød was not exceptional especially for the price. We've had better smørrebrød elsewhere.

Really good food. Very delicate herring preparation and good plaice fillets. Both food and drink are on the expensive side, but the service is really competent
Be the first to ReplyExcellent !
Very good restaurant! The products are quality, and the cuisine is excellent. The Pariserbof was excellent, as was the curried herring. For dessert we had a mand sweetbread, and it was also delicious! We had a great time :)
Be the first to ReplyGo for the collection of snaps including their own recipes.
Rather hidden away and popular, as well as unknown to tourists.
Very typical food and quite well prepared.
#1 - always
#1 ALWAYS… this time alone and enjoying smørrebrød at the bar overlooking the restaurant. Alone, couples or with friends - for lunch or dinner - just book your table already.
Be the first to ReplyAlmost 5 stars, but…
I so wanted to give this great Danish restaurant 5 starts but I can’t. The first piece of smørrebrød unfortunately just didn’t have the same level of glamour and finesse as the rest and actually somewhat tainted the rest of the experience. It was tomato marinated herring that was so full of overpowering vinegar that it not only killed any tomato flavor but also dulled the tastebuds a bit going forward. Such a shame that the didn’t use old fashioned herring, but chose to use the quick marinated kind.
The rest of the lunch on the other hand was delicious!
Open faced smoked potato sandwich with bacon and chicken salad, salted tartare with dehydrated tomatoes and for dessert I had cheese while my wife had the fried Camembert.
We would still recommend the restaurant and plan to come back, but unless the start using better herring we will make sure not to order that again.
