You Must Go
This was the best food experience we had in Vienna. The small, intimate room is a jewel box that looks exactly like the online pictures. The service is equally nice with a good balance of professionalism and helpfulness in choosing wines. We had the goose liver torte and artichoke confit to start. Both were excellent and quite sophisticated. The complaint below about insufficient liver misses the point that this is Viennese food at a refined level. There were 6 or 7 different layers of liver prepared slightly differently, all based on a thin chocolate base. Amazing! The confit was refreshing and bright in flavor. The schnitzel is superb and comes with an interesting salad. Tafelspitz was equally good. For dessert, this is a good place to try things different from cake or ice cream, though that's available too. This will always be on our agenda for future trips to Vienna.
Disappointing and Rude
So disappointed. I made a reservation weeks in advance for a special occasion lunch with my husband while we are in Vienna. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told that my husband was not dressed properly (the guidance was “smart casual,” and he was wearing khaki dress shorts and a dress shirt). We were turned away and the host was very rude. I would not bother with Rote.
Loved the ambiance! Food very good
Beautiful old world atmosphere in a stunning burgundy theme. There are about 15 tables I would guess. Service was friendly and overall excellent. Very good wine list although zero French Rhone wines which I found surprising. The menu was somewhat limited. We started off with an asparagus soup that was ok. We then moved on to our starters which included the white asparagus with hollendiase sauce. This was excellent! I ordered a goose liver tarte which was like a terrine. It was ok. I hardly tasted the goose liver. We both had the Wiener Schnitzel which was very good but not excellent. Everyone seemed to be ordering the same dish which speaks to the lack of options. My wife and I hardly ever order the same things but we did this time. Bottom line is great setting, very good service and good food. Wish the food preparation and selection had been either very good or great.
Lovely atmosphere
Beautiful place, lovely atmosphere and great service and food. Visited with family on may 4th , had the signature wiener schintzel and the original sacher cake.
Classical must visit in Vienna
Our dinner at the traditional Rote Bar Restaurant was truly amazing! This is such a special place, amazing food, excellent service, great location! We had a perfect evening! Highly recommended, not only in combination with an opera visit, but anytime when looking for a traditional, classical stylish experience! We’re coming back for sure!

The Restaurant Rote Bar, is a fine dining restaurant located in the Sacher Hotel in Vienna. The ambience is warm and elegant, however, we found the lunch menu limited, and the Schnitzel very dissappointing; it was all fried batter with no veal. The mini parsley buttered potatoes were delicious but that is not sufficient reason to dine here. Recommended with caution. In the same hotel, you have the famous "Blue Bar" which serves a delicious "Sacher" sausage which is great with a cocktail. Highly recommended.
Classy and must
I visited Rote Bar restaurant during my last family visit in Vienna, just after the opera. I always visit this restaurant when in Vienna either as a couple or as a family. You can enjoy a glass of champagne followed by an excellent 3 course meal, being looked after by the very attentive staff/ excellent service. I cannot imagine visiting Vienna without having dinner at Rote Bar. Classy.

completely unprofessional staff , zero experience, the feeling was like going to buffet all inclusive restaurant . complete disappointment , even the food was nothing special , only interior design is nice and this thanks to past generations !

Located inside Hotel Sacher Restaurant Rote Bar oozes with history, its all-red interior, oil paintings and crystal chandeliers coupled to formal service and Viennese classics such as Tafelspitz and the eponymous Sacher Torte. Adjacent Vienna's State Opera, an open terrace offering views of a gathering pre-show crowd, it is after warm greetings that guests are offered velvet seats and white linens plus a choice of Beverages followed by warm Focaccia. Served a la carte, modern compositions made from seasonal Ingredients alongside plates with history, it is after a nightly amuse that Appetizers range from Wedding Soup to Asparagus Risotto, though fans of Foie Gras should not overlook the Goose Liver Tarte which pairs beautifully to sweet Riesling. A leisurely meal intended to be savored, the clientele's average age eclipsing sixty, Entrees feature tableside service ranging from Sauce poured over Braised Beef to plating Tafelspitz while Sacher's Wiener Schnitzel arrives perfectly prepared in two cuts large enough to share. Accompanied by Piano in the damask room after 19h00, the sun slowly setting through tall windows, Dessert includes ideas old and new though the Chocolate Torte with a layer of Apricot justifiably seems to find its way onto every table.

Amazing dining experience at this beautifully furnished restaurant with live Piano music , extensive wine list and menu with variety of delicious culinary creations, superb service.
Dinner in Vienna
We made a reservation to dine at the Rote Bar and we were glad we did. It was a small, romantic, intimate setting. It was quiet and in its own separate room. It was a pricey meal but was worth the experience. Service was exceptional! We tried a few desserts, but the carrot cake was our favorite. The Baba au Rhum dessert does come flaming which was fun to experience!

Great dining experience. The food was exceptional. There was great wine options. The staff treated us politely and were eager to help us as we where foreigners. One of the best michelin star restaurants i have experienced.

* FulfilledThread16 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FulfilledThread16 for any questions Peter may have as FulfilledThread16 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FulfilledThread16 now uses their connections at Restaurant Rote Bar Wien to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FulfilledThread16 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
