Super disappointing
This was such a disappointing restaurant experience. I had very high expectations and really wanted to like this but instead we left the restaurant in disbelief how something so expensive can be so bad. Ordered the Omakase at 158++ and was looking a forward to a feast but: Average food: carpaccio and wagyu were very tasty, all other dishes are nothing special or even bad. For example, the shrimp was not deveined and I had to take the guts out myself. Sea urchin pasta has a very strong flavor, had a hard time eating it. Also: Bad service: Only one waiter, wearing flip flops, who really did his best but had no clue what he was doing. No one ever came to us to explain the menu. This is a 200 dollar/pax restaurant. Eg shrimp was served as Angel Shrimp. I asked him what is it, he said ‘I don’t know’. I asked him can you ask, he said yes but never came back. I suspect that the waiter, who does not speak Japanese, has a lot of communication issues with the Japanese chef and owners. I don’t blame it on the waiter, he has had no training. Tiny dishes: Steak was tasty but soooo tiny. Literally two bites. Mind you that this is a 80 dollar dish. So you’d be paying 80 dollars for two bites of steak. Petty add ons: Black coffee or tea is included in the Omakase. I wanted a tea, which are all from teabags as the waiter explained. English breakfast is complimentary but if you want any other flavor there’s a 3sgd surcharge. Why use a breakfast tea as the only free tea. Why would a different tea flavor need to come at a surcharge!! So petty Chef prioritizes Japanese guest: While the non Japanese staff were served by the waiter, a table with Japanese guests was waited by the chef himself. The Japanese table also had a different menu from what was available to other guests. Dirty bathroom: Some guests spit their green phlegm in their bathroom. Since the bathroom tap almost had no water pressure the plegm was just sitting there while other guest had to clean their hands above. I know a one star is low, but there really are no excuses at this price point.

The food is always impeccable for the multiple occasions I have been here, both with family and friends. Every course is distinctively artistic and flavorful, making our spent time there even more memorable!!

I believe we saw Chef Takada himself :) It was my husband's birthday and we ordered the 4 course meal. Everything was delicious, each family member had their own favourites. Slightly pricey but well worth it for a special occasion!

Chef Takada personally sends a message to confirm reservation before arrival and served us at the table. The dishes served were like pieces of art, delicious and beautifully presented. This is my 6th visit to the restaurant, I’m so glad it survived the pandemic. Thank you Chef Takada and team.

Chef Takada is very unassuming and pleasant- he took our orders and even saw us to the door to say goodbye when we had finished our meal. We decided to enjoy Chef’s pasta - not a good choice today. The Lobster pasta was average, the uni pasta in black ink was strangely sour. The Burnt cheese cake was very good. Tiramisu was too sweet for us. The Expresso was excellent!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Japanese inspired Italian fare
This is hands down one of the best Japanese run Italian restaurants in Singapore. Each item is refined and well balanced, which is testament to the dedication and precision of a talented Japanese chef. The location is unpretentious and easily missed. It represents far better value than most other Italian restaurants in Singapore. I would highly recommend the Tagliatelle Wagyu Bolognese, A4 Miyazaki Tenderloin and Basque Burnt Cheesecake.

Restaurant was helmed by inexperienced wait staff who was earnest and hospitable so I'd rather let the food take centre stage. We were there for SG Restaurant Week so thought we'll be getting just taster portions. Boy, were we in for a great ride. From the get go, the 4-item appetizers followed by the pasta mains to the deserts, we were impressed with chef's restraint in cooking such that our wagyu steak and lobster were not overcooked and underserved in portions. Will definitely be back when looking for great Italian cuisine and the bonus is that it's away from the city area. The last I checked, they're fully booked out for SG Restaurant Week however I still strongly recommend to visit this restaurant.

Excellent presentation, taste, attention to details. Complimentary mushroom cappuccino was great. Excellent wagyu beef and fish main course too.
Be the first to ReplyA hidden gem! Stunning meal - absolutely exceeded my expectations
Had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while - and my hubby surprised me by taking me here for my birthday celebration! We went for dinner and the ambiance was very romantic, and the food was exceptional! Chef Masa is very hands-on and serves each table. Every course was phenomenal - the selection of appetisers were incredible but the standout was the Miyazaki A5 Wagyu tenderloin steak, highly highly recommended!! The wine selection was also amaaaazing!! Thank you for the outstanding birthday meal! We will most certainly be back!

The set dinner menu is worth a visit to Takada....the appetizers were very good and so were the meats for the main and desert. The pasta was not as impressive. The wine recommendation was also a hit.
The one drawback was that the air conditioning conked and this detracted from the experience but I would put this down to our bad luck
Vespa Chef Makes Empty Storefront into Culinary Destination
This Japanese self-learned Italian cuisine chef deserves a drop by!
Chef Masa spent years on his Vespa traveling the Ma & Pa route of good pasta, good meats and good seafood. Then, he stayed put for 4 years refining his craft in Italy.
Chef Masa answers the phone, takes reservations, takes orders, uncorks wine and pours, and cooks!
Tremendous determination to succeed in Singapore while working out of an empty store front in a non-foot traffic neighborhood and in an ordinary condominium.
The “4 appetizer” starter was tasty. The complimentary cup of mushroom truffle soup was a nice surprise. The wagyu Bolognese pasta was a masterpiece which will bring us back.
Price was a bit steep unless you choose the 3 course set menu.
Italian Japanese Fusion
This is my fifth visit to the Restaurant and the first after the COVID-19 lockdown. Owner, staff and ambience is still the same. Food is still Excellent, I choose the Wagyu A5 which melts in the mouth. The appetiser and dessert are all Excellent. Well done to the Owner and the team.

Wife and I visited on our honeymoon as part of the Singapore restaurant week and had the 3-course lunch set (SGD$48). Appetizer trio of burrata, smoked prawn, and soft egg with Parma ham was flavourful and smartly put-together. We both had the uni tagliolini which was perfectly cooked. The uni sauce was luscious but not jelat as can often be the case. Dessert (tiramisu and crème brulé) were largely faultless. An excellent meal at excellent value.

Lunch here was good, with excellent and quick service.
We loved the trio of appetisers, especially the small smoked egg and the prawn with caviar. The mushroom soup was tasty and went with the freshly baked bread.
My sea urchin an squid ink pasta was okay, though the pasta was slightly overcooked. My wife found her vongole with sakura ebi pasta to be overly salty. Desserts of tiramisu and sakura creme brulee were okay, but not wow as expected.
Excellent food and service
Restaurant was as good as everyone has reviewed, and even better.
Had the Omakase set which came with the Omi A5 wagyu carpaccio, tagliolini hokkaido sea urchin with squid ink sauce, Miyazaki A5 wagyu tenderloin with gravy sauce. The appetiser blew our minds with the raw tender wagyu chips and ginger sauce. The tagliolini was thin, but came as a bite and soaked up the creamy sea urchin sauce. The sea urchin was so fresh and sweet that we wished we had more of it. Next came the Miyazaki A5 wagyu tenderloin cooked to perfection. Soft and tender, and when the more you chew it, the longer the fragrance of beef fat lingers.
The Chef-owner and waiter (presumably the son) were also very kind and polite and sent us off personally after the meal.
Love this kind of hospitality with good food and well-thought attention.
