Always a fantastic spot.
The sweet potato chaat was unreal. Our waitress Debjani was so sweet and welcoming.
Be the first to ReplyRooh has been on my want-to-eat list for what seems like
Rooh has been on my want-to-eat list for what seems like forever, but my favorite dinner partners aren't big Indian food fans. So I was so happy during the last restaurant week that someone agreed to come with me! First, as everyone knows, it's beautiful inside. We had a lovely table by the window. We started with cocktails that were delicious. Was so happy that the waiter- who was incredible- basically told us what to order (I'm vegetarian and gluten intolerant) and the choices were amazing! The appetizer I got - Sweet Potato Chaat- was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Will definitely be back for that. My main dish - the stuffed Indian eggplant- was also good, but not as amazing at the chaat. My dinner partner liked his meal too and also agreed that he would come back (and remember, he's not an Indian food fan). Service was exceptional and really helped. I thought it was a good serving size, and the price was higher, but it makes for a special night out.

I recently went to Rooh for restaurant week on Friday 01/26/24 and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised! I have been to the rooh in Chicago a couple times when I lived there and thought that this Columbus one was wayy better overall! Food: 5/5! As the first course, we got the kheema and the shrimp, for the entree we got the nihari and the palak paneer, and for dessert we both got gulaab jamun with rabri. Everything was delicious!! The flavors were not muted down and the spices came through all the way. Nothing was overtly spicy just for the heck of it. I liked the Nihari the best - the meat fell of the bone seamlessly and the flavor reminded me of the Nihari I grew up eating in Bombay (I know!!). Drinks: I got the paan drink and it was SO good! I'll probably be going back just for that :) Ambience: chic inviting and upscale, but not stuffy. Service: our server was very helpful! Everyone was kind and professional. Will I return? Heck yeah!

First of all, beautiful restaurant! I am a sucker for GOLD! I will be honest, my first choice in food is rarely Indian... however, my husband really enjoys Indian food and has been waiting to try ROOH for ages. I had reservations and had a slight wait (less than 10 minutes) after arrival -- I try to be understanding as the world is still understaffed since COVID. We were warming greeted by wait staff, and began to look over the menu. This offerings were definitely elevated Indian food. First time I dine at an Indian establishment, I order butter or tikka chicken in order to gauge the kitchen - this hit the mark for me! It was creamy and not too acidic -- chicken was cooked perfectly and moist - flavor profile that created a symphony on the buds! While this might not be my first choice to dine out (due to not craving this cuisine), I won't complain if this is the restaurant of choice.

First time trying Indian food! I got Sweet Potato, Butter Chicken and Mango Ice cream. Everything was sooooo goooooood, so perfect to me! Before I went there I had no idea what I was going to get and I have to say from my picky personal opinion, this place is very very nice, the food was so delicious, the presentation was the best! If I didn't listen to my husband this time and went somewhere else, I would be really regret it! I love the Sweet potato the most, with everything that came: crispy kale, yogurt mouse, really everything! I will go back to Rooh and get this again and again. My butter chicken was very nice too, the curry not spicy, the chicken was cooked perfectly soft! Donna our server was super sweet and very smart, she can answer and explain every questions we had. Thank you! I will see you again, soon!

When we got in the hostess asked us for reservations. We didn't have one! They asked us to wait to be seated. There was open tables everywhere. Had a bad experience walking in when it was an empty restaurant and we were asked to wait. Waited for 30 minutes and left pretty hangry due to the stupid restaurant policy on playing hard to get!

The service, cocktails and appetizers were great! The entrees however were sweet, mild and lacked any of the bold Indian flavors. We had to ask for dinner sized plates.
Be the first to ReplyRooh has been on my list for a while since I have a love
Rooh has been on my list for a while since I have a love for Indian food. We stopped by after the theatre just as they opened. It was not busy at 5:00 on a Saturday. First impression was great. The style/design of the restaurant is classic, bold, and clean. The hostess and server were a pleasure. The menu was intriguing and the dishes were plated beautifully compared to typical Indian restaurants. However, that is where the compliments end. The food is extremely over priced for the portions and ingredients. The kulcha (described as an Indian quesadilla, which is basically stuffed naan) was $15. While the flavor was good it barely had much filling (short rib tikka). The short rib kefta was decent but not as flavorful or tender as expected. The could have eaten a bowl of the lemon aioli on the kefta though. We ordered the short rib entree and the butter chicken for our meals. The butter chicken was full of flavor and tender chicken. However, we got 4 pieces of chicken for $28. I order short ribs any chance I get so was excited to have them in a curry. This was the biggest disappointment of the night. The first time it came out the one piece was complete gristle and fat, the other piece was dry and tough. The waitress was apologetic and brought a new dish. Unfortunately just like the first dish they were extremely tough. I had to saw with a knife. I was told it is a tough cut of meat. While that is true, when cooked properly they are fork tender. Overall the experience did not leave me impressed.
Be the first to ReplyI was a bit disappointed coming to this restaurant.
The food is mediocre Indian food. The prices are extremely extremely high for what the food is. The drinks were ok. I did like how there are unique drinks, like I got one which goat cheese foam in top. The atmosphere is very pretty, I loved the painting. Overall the food isn't worth it here, I think there are better Indian restaurants that are affordable in Columbus.
Be the first to ReplyLiterally amazing.
My friends and I had a blast- awesome menu and incredible drinks. The naan was exactly what I wantes
Be the first to ReplyThe service was very good.
We were promptly seated and the server was periodically checking in. Chili Cheese Kulcha was good as was the Paneer Pinwheel. The dessert avocado & green chickpea bhel was light and delicious. The Kofta was not as soft as we expected, the saag was good.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and drinks were divine and the service was amazing.
I would love to live close enough to visit again! The restaurant is beautiful!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a spectacular experience.
Our party of 7 had a beautiful semi private room that created the perfect environment for reconnecting after a long time apart. The food was outstanding. Each of our shareable plates and our entrees boasted a variety of textures, complex flavor profiles, and just complete joy. Our party members with vegetarian and gluten free diets were able to find many options to choose from that fit their restrictions. The cocktails were creative and delicious, especially the goat cheese foam atop mine!! We could not have had a better experience and we look forward to having a reason to return to Columbus so we can come back. Oh yes, and the best part was OUR AMAZING SERVER ROBIN who was just a delightful human being. (All of the staff members with whom we interacted were fantastic, and the owner checked in on us as well. BUT ROBIN!!! We love her.) Everyone, EAT AT ROOH!

Came here for a Saturday night dinner & drinks after walking by & thinking about how wonderful it smelled maaaany times. We were very happy with our experience!! The drinks are unique and delicious. We enjoyed the wheel & explanations of all the drinks. All the food was also delicious - the sauces are great. One con was the garlic naan being pretty dry. Service was very prompt & our waitress had food recommendations. The restaurant is very aesthetic & we enjoyed the bar in the middle of the space. This is a great special occasion experience, as you will easily spend a lot of money.

We received a wine pairing experience but we were old to order our own wine with dinner so not so great on that point. However the food was amazing. I for one do not eat Indian food often but it was a special night for my wife who explores her palate often. I would recommend just about everything on hair menu since we tasted quite a bit. The ambience is beautiful and the service is genuine. Take your time to sip your drink and enjoy the experience.

Creative, progressive and delicious Indian cuisine with highly over priced cocktails.Rooh has been on my bucket list of restaurants to try for awhile but I haven't had any friend's adventures enough to go with me. So, tonight I'm doing a solo dining experience. The staff have been friendly and knowledgeable in helping me navigate the menu. While I pondered my options, I ordered up one of their many unique cocktails. Under Paan Clouds was delicious! However, at these high prices for the tiny glass it came in, I'll be stopping at one drink tonight. I asked the waitress which items on the menu were a "must-try", and she recommended the Sweet Potato Chaat (I wouldn't order this again) and the Butter Chicken. Let me tell you this Butter Chicken was off the charts good!! This tender chicken was bathing in this velvety, flavorful sauce. Wow!The ambiance was soft lighting, clean, simple and nice. I didn't really feel the decor matched the creativity and scale of the menu. Prices of the menu items didn't match the decor of the space. There was a disconnect for me. Service was good. I felt attended to and valued as a customer. Sometimes when you're a solo diner it's easy to feel neglected.I didn't feel that here.My takeaway from this experience...excellent creative dishes and the best butter chicken on the planet! One of the best dishes I've had in a while. Creative cocktails that are unfortunately way OVER PRICED! I will definitely be back to try other things on their menu. I'll just skip the drinks.
Be the first to ReplyLoved this restaurant! Having a modern/trendy Indian
Loved this restaurant! Having a modern/trendy Indian restaurant is such a cool concept. The flavors were incredible and not too spicy which was great for me. The owners were very nice and helped us figure out what to order. I will say the portion sizes were a bit small compared to other photos I've seen, especially for the price. Other than that we had a great experience and will be back.
Be the first to ReplyExcited to try the "New Year" flavors at Rooh.
Sumptuous scallops followed by a wickedly good Kofta dish added to another superb culinary experience. Thanks to the Rooh staff and special shout out to the Bartender for his creative expression with our beverages!
Be the first to ReplyQuite disappointing.
Had high expectations based on Yelp reviews, but our food was well below what we'd expect for higher-end Indian, or Indian overall. Butter chicken was greasy, and the chicken over cooked (big chunks as well, not in pieces); cauliflower looked nothing like the picture, but tasted ok.

Be the first to ReplyI have made a reservation here and went with my friends.
We were seated immediately. The decor and ambiance was very cozy and modern. The staff were friendly and polite.Their drink menu is excellent and most of the drinks we tried had a great flavor and a twist as well. I would definitely go for the drinks. We also tried few small plates among them the chicken, cauliflower and kale chat were delicious. The lamb kheema was good, but it had a pungent lamb smell and the pav was amazing. Coming to the main course we got the 1. Panner Pinwheel (4/5), the panner was super soft and the gravy was good. 2. Butter Chicken (4/5). Both of the gravy's had a similar flavor profile and the chicken was a tad bit chewy. Overall a good twist on Indian food with great drink selection. There is street parking but might be hard to find. There is a parking garage on E Goodale St.

I love going to Rooh! Their cocktails are innovative and their food is really good. Ambience is great. My favorites are the lamb kheema which is topped with a potato foam and served with an awesome warm buttery dinner roll. I also like their shrimp Amritsari, paneer pinwheel, and butter chicken.

Visited Rooh for my birthday and this was a great dinner! The food is delicious and upscale, I haven't had an experience with Indian food quite like this. Perfect place for a birthday dinner. I am so dissapointed I had not visited sooner!
Be the first to ReplyThis experience is one that Indian food lovers want to be
This experience is one that Indian food lovers want to be sure to have when in Columbus. The fusion of traditional Indian recipes with local ingredients, family-style sharing opportunities, along with impeccable and friendly service, all combine to make Rooh an ideal dining location. While there, I was seated near the front door and was impressed by the steady number of Indian families who came to eat, providing an encouraging sign of the authenticity of Rooh's cuisine.

Came in with my family on a whim and we had the best experience! We didn't have a reservation, but were able to get seated right away on a Saturday night, which was a pleasant surprise. The service was great, our waitress was very friendly and walked us through the menu after learning it was our first time visiting Rooh. The ambiance was pleasant, wasn't too loud or quiet. There was a large mural on the wall when walking in that was amazing. Now let's get to the food. I'm not kidding when I say my family said "wow" after every single bite. It was all SO good. We split about 3-4 small plates and 2 large plates and everything was so flavorful and delicious. I had the mango mule to drink, which was also really good. If you're looking for a modern take on Indian food, Rooh is where to go. However, if you're looking for traditional Indian food, this is not it.We also learned they change some of their menu items from time to time, so I'm very excited to go back and try new dishes they have!
