Rovello 18 Milano Reviews from The Last Year
Instagrammable but with little soul
Very nice restaurant but quite cold service and menu without a precise direction: it doesn't give the idea of being a tavern or even a restaurant, it's something in between that leaves you dumbfounded. Average cuisine: fairly dry sautéed rice and taleggio fondue that disappears in two spoons. Well cooked cutlet but at times bland. If I want to go to a Milanese tavern I go somewhere else, if I want to go to a restaurant in Milan I go somewhere else.
Top choice in Brera
Casual well decorated place, great attentive service. Lots of good options to choose from the menu, everything amazing.
Excellent restaurant in Milan
Excellent restaurant in Milan. It can be reached easily. Really good traditional dishes. Excellent value for money
Traditional cuisine
I went to Rovello 18 for dinner. Elegant and private environment. Efficient service. Excellent food both meat and fish. Super recommended. C
recommended for a classy but informal evening
Informal but very nice restaurant near the Teatro Piccolo, located on two floors, the one above is nicer, you drink well, you are received with courtesy, the dishes are not all up to the delicious atmosphere, the veal with tuna sauce is good, very minus the cod, average prices
Not enough...
Sunday lunch, crowded place, great attention to detail, kindness of the staff, I admit that it's not what I like about a restaurant, so I'll be objective, the dishes are good, the wine by the glass is refined, a trendy place, there's something that it didn't convince me, average. The prices are high for what I received.
The stars of Milan
It is undoubtedly a small, classy restaurant, a well-deserved Michelin star. Pleasant atmosphere, clean and tidy table linen and crockery. A little small table for two. Attentive and welcoming staff. The bread bag contains some crispy wafers which go well with it. The bread, on the other hand, leaves something to be desired, but we are in Milan and Milanese bread is not exactly the tastiest. Excellent Cantabrian anchovies served with warm, lightly toasted brioche bread and a curl of butter. I then had braised veal with potatoes: perfect. A tiramisu for dessert, well cooked. A glass of dessert and an excellent choice of wines.
Always a must
Must try, try again and try again because all the dishes are excellent and must all be tasted This time we took the Russian salad, the spaghettoni with bacon and chicory, the cutlet, the Bra sausage and the tartare Everything excellent Not to mention the eggnog for dessert We will never get tired of coming back Also because the place is very welcoming and the staff very kind Well done
Without infamy and without praise
Historic and very classic restaurant in Milan. The interiors and the environment are tasteful and recall those of a traditional Milanese tavern. I don't go beyond three stars mainly for the food and the service. In fact, as long as the dishes are good and prepared with excellent raw materials (we took marrow and fennel as an appetizer, followed by braised meat and cutlet), they did not give me any enthusiasm or "wow" effect. Well-executed, classic dishes that don't surprise me. I would also like to point out that it is not possible to accompany the cutlet with baked potatoes as I only offer the chips... for my taste, this is totally against me and I don't agree with the choice to sacrifice the baked potatoes for potato chips (which are otherwise not exciting ). Frankly, I don't even understand the choice of menu which ranges from meat to fish, to traditional Roman dishes (cheese and pepper) and Milanese cuisine (such as schnitzel). It seems to me to be a somewhat generalist choice aimed at satisfying all palates and tastes; perhaps the menu formula is more suitable for tourists. To conclude on the service, I must say not exciting. Waiters who aim to do their homework and bring home the evening. They didn't give anything more to the dinner. Lastly: an extra bottle was added to the bill compared to the one purchased: I pointed this out to the waitress who told me she would check and then returned with a new bill. now, there are errors and for goodness sake, no problem; but if you make a similar mistake in a medium-high-end place, I expect at least a very minimal discount or the offer, for example, of a bitter to apologize. None of this. I wouldn't go back
Fancy place but way to expensive for average food (and small portions)
The place is very nice and the staff is polite. The food is okay (nothing amazing but nothing too bad either) but it is very overpriced and the portions are way too small. There are numerous places in Milan where you can eat much better, much more and spend much less! The main negative aspect is that in the entire menu there are only 2 vegetarian options (unacceptable in 2024 for a city like Milan)
The service was at the same level as all the restaurants in
The service was at the same level as all the restaurants in Milan we've eaten at (we're here for 7days) slow, slightly rude but hey we're used to it. Our waitress did a great job on selecting wine for us. They brought out cold bread, we had to ask for oil and vinegar, we ordered the zucchini blossom it had potential but was pretty much tasteless (I looked pretty tho). On to our meal we ordered we entrees the pasta with tomatoes and bacon-good (not amazing) but good. Ravioli-it literally tasted like dry chicken noodle soup my palette was confused but I like chicken noodle soup so..... take it as you will. Now let's talk about the reason we went there....the fettuccine!!!! We it was terribly dry (sigh) so my friend asked if we could get more cheese sauce, the first girl ran away when we asked then a guy came back, we asked for more sauce he flat out said NO! Then went on to very loudly explain that they would have to make a lot of pasta and cheese sauce. My friend is an elite private chef for a professional athlete so she knows what's she asking for. It would have taken less than 5 mins to throw some heavy cream in a saucepan sprinkle a little pharm cheese in and bring it out as requested. My 12yr old made it all the time. The food was disappointing but the staff was a real disappointment. Well there you go my honest review. Ambiance-cramped

Ask a Question |
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
