We have eaten in a lot of high end restaurants and this one is NOT worth the money! The oysters were delicious, but my Seabass was blans and fishy. My Husband ordered the ribeye as a medium to medium rare and it arrived red. He asked to have them cook it a little longer, and the manager was an ass and came over and said it was a perfectly cooked medium, which is BS. There are thousands of amazing restaurants in NYC, please do not give this one your business! BAD Attitudes and overpriced!

Super excited that I had to get my hands on some of the best food. This steak house is a true classic and so freaking delicious. My meal was above expectations. I will be back.

We made reservations here to celebrate my anniversary for my sobriety. When we were first seated we got put and the very first booth near the doorway not even in the dining room. When we asked to sit on the dining room the hostess said let me check if there is any room (in a annoyed voice). We walk in and there are exactly 5 pairs of 2 people in the room and MANY open tables. We were not even told our waiters name and when the waiter came to the table he was a robot. Did the bare minimum of what he needed to do and we weren't even asked about the special occasion we were supposed to be there Celebrating. Dinner was fine (mastros is 100% better. Steak had no flavor as I needed salt and pepper) we weren't asked how our dinner was not once, only by the guy who brings food out when he noticed I was crying because of the whole experience. We asked for our bill and the waiter kept remaking tables which is meant for after closing hours. After he kept cleaning and didn't bring us our bill we asked for the manager. Then they brought out our "anniversary dessert" which was a total joke to me, a lousey peice of cheesecake with whipped cream woohoo so special . Then the manager came out and made excuse after excuse and how sorry he was that he was upstairs and "busy" and offered us free drinks....... when im celebrating my sobriety. Sorry buddy no sorry will be accepted after that horseshit experience. I will never recommend your restaurant to anyone not even my enemy. I will be posting your resturant on everyone of my social media pages with my experience. I hope you and your whole crew and resturant get shut down. Also the bathrooms look like 10,000 people did crack in it so you should get that fixed.

Great service and food but it has gotten really expensive post pandemic with little volume compared to the pre-pandemic times. Lunch for 5 of us with no alcohol was like $236.

Fantastic ribeye steak! Chilean sea bass was huge and the lemon wine sauce for the mash was delicious. The service was stellar Thank you to our fabulous waiter
Be the first to ReplyGood steakhouse.
Had the porterhouse for 2, crab cake, creamed spinach, and the crรจme brรปlรฉe. Everything was great. It was a mentor mentee dinner and I thought it was thoughtful they got us a whisky at the end of the dinner. Would certainly come back
Be the first to ReplyVery underwhelming anniversary dinner experience.
The bone in ribeye steak was very bland and tough. The chilean sea bass and mac and cheese was just ok as well.
Be the first to ReplySeated quickly, my waiter was very friendly and attentive.
You could see the waiters checking each table as they passed to sure that everyone had what they need. My steak was cooked perfectly, and the server who bought it out also helped dish out the sides that I ordered. My table had filet mignon & New York strip. For sides I had asparagus and mushrooms. The asparagus was flavored with fresh garlic, and the mushrooms included onions... It was all delicious! My waiter brought out some dessert wine as well, it was a nice sweet Muscato. I highly recommend this steakhouse and I would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good as well as the service.
The ambiance isn't much to it. Wasn't nothing that'll say oh let me get a picture here. If you go I recommend being seated at the booth. It gives a more alone feel. I'll go back maybe once more but it'll be used for a low key vibe where I won't have to run into anyone. Street parking on the entire block (meter)
Be the first to ReplyThe 16oz ribeye was to die for.
Perfectly made and everything. The service was pretty good and the lighting of the upstairs dining room was really nice. I'm definitely going back.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was a disappointment to us.
The evening before, we'd had dinner at Gallagher's and we were craving another steak. An internet search turned up photos of meats here at Royal 35 being aged in the same manner as Gallagher's, so we decided to come here. The host (who may also have been the manager) greeted us and was very jolly and charming. We would really have liked one of the comfy-looking booths just past the host stand, but unfortunately all were occupied. Instead he took us into the larger, more open dining room at the back where there were 2 large parties, one of probably 40 people and other with a group of about 8, and he showed us to a table for 2 over in the far corner. The decor and ambiance of the dining room is a bit odd here. The large glass-enclosed wine rack at the back is cool, but there are no windows and the plain white ceiling and patterned, dark green wallpaper just make it feel like it needs some artwork and maybe a few mirrors to break things up and not feel so closed in. The music they were playing that had a pumping bass line was out of place with the decidedly older, classic looking decor. We were forgotten about for a while, until a server came in to check on the much larger group and his body kind of jolted as he realized we'd been seated. From then on, service was fine, though he rarely smiled. We decided to forego appetizers and ordered the prime NY strip steak and the seabass, and planned to share both those entrees. We also ordered mac and cheese as a side and a moderately-priced bottle of malbec. While the steak was served to our table still sizzling away, none of the dishes or items we were served could be considered "perfect", especially considering the price point. The steak and the accompanying red sauce were better at Gallagher's the night before, for less cost. The sea bass served on a bed of mashed potatoes was good but not outstanding, and the mac & cheese could have used some more time in the oven to form a crust on top. The wine was OK, but all the wines we were familar with on the list here were way overpriced. The malbec we ordered was certainly not worthy of the $70 that Royal 35 charged for it. As we were dining, the larger group of about 40 left, and the smaller group of 8 remained. They stood up and started walking and dancing around and were loud, rowdy, had bright lights they were using to shoot video and social media posts, and they spent time putting their legs and feet up on the linen-covered dining tables and chairs, shaking their asses, screaming and laughing, yelling and acting like school children..But they were adults, in what's billed as a classy restaurant where we were paying $75 for a steak without sides. After they left, the server and the host/manager both came separately to apologize to us for the actions of that group, but at no point did any of them discourage their actions or suggest they go elsewhere where their activity may have been more appropriate. The final slap came when they presented our bill, we were still enjoying 1/2 full glasses of wine, and the staff here shut off the background music, making us feel unwelcome and encouraged to leave. Again, they were happy to permit the other group to scream like banshees while shaking their asses throughout the dining area for their cameras, but we weren't able to finish sipping our glasses of wine before being run out and the music stopped.I never mind paying good $$ for quality food and service in a nice restaurant with charming ambiance. Royal 35 had none of those things, the meal was far from perfect and yet our bill before gratuity came to $242. So not worth it and I cannot recommend this restaurant to others. You'll find better food, higher quality steaks and better service elsewhere for less cost.

Food was amazing the lobster Mac felt a bit over priced but still very good. Our server however was AMAZING I wish I knew his name. Very personable and made sure we were okay through all parts of our night. This was our two year anniversary so we wanted something quaint but amazing and this was the place.

My friend is a regular at Royal 35 and suggested we have drinks and dinner here several weeks ago. I can understand the appeal, as the food is delicious and the drinks are strong (in the best way). We shared the Royal 35 salad, baked clams, fried calamari, and lobster mac 'n' cheese. The salad was a nice balanced mix of greens, goat cheese, dried cranberries, and pecans. The calamari was perfectly tender and crispy, and the baked clams were laid out on a tasty lemon sauce. The lobster mac was creamy and delicious with generous chunks of lobster. My friend doesn't eat meat, so we didn't have steak, but I would definitely come back to try it. The service was fantastic. Very attentive and friendly.
Be the first to ReplyAsh really payed attention to how each guest is doing.
Timely refill of the wine (and the salted butter even before I asked for it) our server Ash noticed that there was something floating in my wine glass (probably from the cork) that I didn't mind at all and offered to bring me a new glass, we we're having trouble finishing the cocktail we ordered (because we couldn't drink any more - we really wanted to finish it!) and he asked if there was anything wrong with it.I really appreciate Ash who did a great job. I enjoyed it a lot.It just shows the extra mile the restaurant goes to make everyone's experience memorable.Food was stunning! Environment, was mediocre, not bad, nothing special!I got very frustrated, at the manager, who was behind of the staff all night long, doing a lot of pressure, and watching at the guests all the time "Dude WTF, why you are looking at me, leave me alone, I don't own you NOTHING (Get the fuck out of here)" and leave the staff alone, they know what they're doing, better then you for sure!

So I went to the city to shop and stumbled upon this steakhouse. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and being that is was around 3pm on a Friday afternoon I had my choice of seating. I had the prefix menu which was a French onion soup that was just heaven and for my entree I had the petite fillet that was accompanied by a mushroom gravy. I think maybe the sauce had a dash of brandy or cognac, it was also sooooo good. I wish the steak would have came with a side but the mushrooms were so good, I can't complain. The prefix also came with dessert. I chose the chocolate cake, that I asked to take home because I was stuffed; I loved it. Overall, I would definitely come here again. Atmospher is chill, the drinks and food are good and it's a nice/comfortable place to dine alone.
Be the first to ReplyThe steaks, side and service was amazing.
I will most definitely be returning on my next NY visit.

Note- if I could give zero stars that is what I'd give this establishment. I was very disappointed. I've been to many great steakhouses such as WolfGang and Peter Luger and I had high expectations. The restaurant staff was wonderful however the food wasn't good at all. First off, the bread was cold. They provided butter which was very hard to cut into. The shrimp cocktail and oysters were ok. I ordered the ย Porterhouse for two, medium well. The steak was difficult to cut because it was over cooked and ย dry. Additionally, my fiancรฉ and I ordered the twin lobster tails. It too was dry and overcooked. We could barely cut it with our steak knives. I just gave up trying to eat the chewy, over cooked mess. I didn't say anything because we waited a long time for our food and at that point I was really hungry. Their desserts were the worst way to finish the evening. I ordered their warm orange butter cake. It has a scoop of vanilla ice cream that was freezer burnt. The cake was dry and not desirable. I told the waiter that the cake was dry and I wanted something else so I got the chocolate moose cake. That too was old and gross. Went home with the worst stomach ache from this food. $500 spent on terrible food. Date night was not a success. Save ur hard earned money and go elsewhere.

I was here yesterday for my 30th birthday and it was the best meal ever with the most wonderful service by Enzo, Ricky and Caesar. My father Louis surprised me with a meal here and the food was not only delicious but the service was impeccable. The hostess was very friendly and it was perfect from the very get go.
