Suberb experience and real Chinese food
Looked for a Chinese restaurant in Dubai and found Royal China in walking distance from our hotel. What a wonderful dinner. From you enter the restaurant you can see you have found a gem. Huge menu with the best of the best Chinese food. We ordered several dishes and one of them was their Peking duck. Cut and served at the table. Come and try this restaurant as you will not be disappointed. We will be back.

I came in from Saudi, deprived of proper Asian food. These guys operates thru the day and i decided to give it a go. They gave me wierd stares as i enter the restaurant, dont think they are expecting Chinese looking people in there. Sat down ordered a load of stuffs, a very refined gentlemen looking captain even ask me what I am looking for in case not on menu, and they can create for me. Unfortunately no pork here. Beef hofun was prettt good, very lightly sauteed beef not chewy, good quality and texture. Hofun wasnt oily, not heavily laden with msg, light taste. Hargow skin was a little thick, but its Dubai so acceptable at least filling was fresh. Carrot cake seems to have sausage in it not sure what meat, same old asian taste. Siewmai was average as its Chicken they did their best, except the cruellers cheongfun quite dissapointing as its cold but ok. Bill came up to less than 200dh for one with a pot of tea, i think its reasonable for the quality, service and standards. But clearly a place more patronised by westerners and Indians.

Good quality dimsum and prices very reasonable too. Food tastes as nice if not better than those in Singapore. Highly recommended

This restaurant is so difficult to find once you parked the car in the building basement. It took us more than 15 minutes and asking 3 security to find the restaurant. The restaurant receptionist service is very unfriendly. She told us to go away because they take last order at 11pm, and we arrived in the restaurant at 11.05pm. They closed at 1am. The trip to this restaurant is simply waste of our time and effort, and the worst is it destroyed our mood. Shame of them to treat customer like that!

From one of our most favourite restaurants to one of our least favourite! Most of the old staff has left, many of our favourite dishes are missing, service is below average, surely give this one a miss, food was not nice at all
Be the first to ReplyDim Sum Heaven and a Peking Duck
My perfect place for a Dim Sum Lunch on a weekend. The quality of food is great and prices are good as well. Recommend to order a wide selection of Dim Sum and the Peking Duck.

If you want a quite place and craving for an authentic Chinese Restaurant, I go to Royal China, great service and the staff are friendly.
Be the first to ReplyNot So ROYAL after all!
A close friend (vegetarian) visiting me in Dubai wanted to experience Chinese cuisine. We considered other options such as Hakkasan, Maiden Shanghai and Shanghai Me, but based on previous experiences and recommendations from friends that the menu had better choices for vegetarians, we decided on Royal China. Having set the background behind our choice, let me quite clear from the get go that there was nothing โRoyalโ about it! The only thing good about this restaurant was the food. For appetizers, if only to appease the palate of my friend, we chose to go fully veg and ordered Veg Dumplings, Veg Spring Rolls, and Onion Pancakes. The dumplings were steaming hot (when served) and tasty; the spring rolls were straight out of the pan and crispy and hot; and the pancakes were just perfect! For the mains we chose to order the Stir Fried Mushrooms with Oyster Sauce on Seasonal Vegetables, sautรฉed string bean vegetables, and finally, to cater to my craving for non-veg, the sautรฉed beef with seasonal vegetables. The mushrooms were delectable although, I found it quite surprising that they found โPak-choiโ to be the only vegetable in season; the string beans were nicely cooked and just al dente packed with a lot of flavor; the beef was succulent and the sauce kept you diving in for more though I did feel slightly on the oily side. So, overall, lets give them an A for the food. Now, the service โ well that, if anything, was atrocious! Despite the fact that the restaurant was not entirely full, and that we had around 4 different persons attending to our order, we had a reached a point where I was almost ready to walk out were it not for my wifeโs pacifying gestures and my friendโs calm demeanor! Let me dissect this for you. After being seated at the table, it must have taken almost 8 โ 10 minutes before anyone even attended to us. Then started the saga of disserviceโฆ.that we had two waitresses come at different points to take the same order leading me to believe there was an obvious confusion in the ranks, that one of the waitresses turned her back on my wife while she was mid-sentence violates the basics of communication etiquette, that despite requests to get the drinks served first, we got the dumplings and sadly without any dipping sauces, that eventually when the Chilean Merlot did get served, it was without the bucket of ice which we had originally requested to bring the wine to European temperatures, and that, in between being seated and getting our appetizers we had a total of 4 persons running pillar to post without actually bringing anything to the table โ that all of this happened was reason enough to stomp out of the restaurant! And then, to add fuel to the fire, they served 2 of the 3 dishes but being enraptured in conversation, this fact slipped our attention until we were more than halfway through the meal. In response to our query, the waiterโs clichรฉd response of it being under preparation was not acceptable so we pushed back โ we, in fact, told him that if it were to take so long he should have brought all the food together or at least informed us that there would be a delay in the mushrooms and that it is being served towards the end of our meal was quite perturbing. He had the gall to, quite rudely if I must say, turn around and ask us whether he should cancel that order! The lethargic attitude of all, the dismissive and discourteous behavior of the one waiter whose name I unfortunately did not catch, the inability to understand or advise, the indifference to our rantings led to us making a quick exit after eating with not even a dirham in tips! I wish restaurant reviews allowed for negative scores and tips could be paid in negatives for I would most definitely do so. This was most definitely not the expectation from a high caliber restaurant and it will be a long time before I visit or even recommend a friend to visit. The saving grace is the food so points to the chefs who were behind the scenes!

Terrible service! We were two friends catching up. they forgot several orders as well as they seemed to know nothing about sequence of service! Food was poor, my friend invited me to dine here and was extremely embarrassed as both of us understand restaurants very well and it was just disappointing! There was supposed to be hyped up but fell way short.
Be the first to ReplyOpportunist
Being there for many times and I like the food but service always below average, Tried today to book for lunch for my extended family 4 adults, 2 children and 2 babies to my surprise they ask for 250 Dirham per person irrelevant of age, this what I call opportunist and rip off , I will never go back there again, shame
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food
An underrated Chinese restaurant. The serving here is more of traditional Chinese dishes not the trendy diffusion once. But the quality food is Excellent and the food is delicious. The main problem is that the air-conditioning is not good. So it gets really warm if the restaurant is packed. Service was okay but could be more friendly.
Be the first to ReplyDim Sum Aficionados Should definitely Avoid This!!
We had booked the 2nd week of September, for the Saturday Dim Sum brunch with some of our guests. We book, arrive get the Menus and when we are about to place the order the manager Mr Abdul Aziz, informs that they will not serve the brunch menu, as they close the menu by 2pm when the advertised timings are up-to 3pm. Instead of being apologetic, there was this arrogance implicating as if we do not understand the norms and adamant attitude and denial to admit the published information. We had booked, informed of our intent over the phone and on arrival, we arrive on time, we have the menus in hand, and only when we are ordering we are informed they will no longer serve the menu. Is this something assumable ??
While we did end up having lunch, as it was not appropriate to walk out having invited guests, I definitely did not enjoy myself and was not comfortable at all.
Dim Sum Aficionados Should Avoid This ...
I've been coming here occasionally for the last eight or so years. Yesterday, my wife and I went for our last meal in a week-long visit to Dubai. To call it a disappointment is an understatement.
The prawn roll was too thick. Similarly the tops of the xiaolong bao were tough โ thick and possibly undercooked. The gyoza were dry and overly chewy. The wu gok (fried taro puff) should have been the best dim sum item and was actually the worst โ dry and tasteless. The chilli oil was a really weird texture and poor tasting as well. They had actually run out of the honey-chicken puffs, even though we got there soon after opening.
If you know your dim sum, you really need to avoid this place. The quality has gone downhill, and there must be far better places than this in Dubai.

Enjoyed the wide variety of Chinese delicacies.
Aung was very helpful in making the right choice of dishes.
The ambience too was very pleasing.
Will definitely come back.
Great Dim Sum Brunch
We booked the brunch for Royal China as we really wanted to try Dim Sum in Dubai. We normally go to Dim Sum once a month back in Houston, so we really wanted to see if it was as good here.
We originally booked through the website and received a confirmation, but when we showed up, they could not find it. Luckily, they found us a table as I had my confirmation on my phone.
Service was prompt and we ordered one of everything on the menu as we wanted to try it all. Note that it does take some time for the food to come out because they make each dish fresh and you can definitely tell. The quality of the ingredients really stood out. While the number of items on the menu is not as large as normal Dim Sum restaurants, the ones they had were very good. I would definitely recommend Royal China.
Horrible service
We had the worst dinning experience here! Wonโt recommend this place to anybody. If your dinning going smooth then you will be fine, the minute you find something wrong, they will just walk away. Even the manger is unhelpful, we had a mistaken charge from the bill, they insisted on how right they are till we opened the menu to prove it wrong, thatโs when they offered you a refund not an apology. Horrible staffs!
