Great food and service.
The food and the service was great. They have several indoor dining rooms and an outdoor dining area.
Be the first to Replynot informed ahead of time of required very pricey pre-fixe menu requirement - buyer beware
When I made reservations, the restaurant website showed a pre fixe menu for Stanford Graduation weekend. It did NOT say the pre fixe menu was required, and it did show its normal menu. We showed up, ready to order from the regular menu and were taken aback when we were told the pre fixe menu was the only option, at $95.00 per person. And there was a cancellation fee of $50.00 per person. We were stuck, and very unhappy about it. This cannot be legal. Also, we were sat at a table next to the server's station, in a room full of empty tables. The food was good, but NOT worth all of that. Still fuming.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, service, and location - a local, longstanding choice
Hosted a dinner for friends at St. Mikes. I started visiting this place over 20 years ago and then somehow lost sight of them until the last few months. I've been returning often as the chef does a great job with the menu and service is friendly and reliable. The bar seems to be a hangout for locals - feels like a neighborhood gem.

We visited st Michael’s alley restaurant last night and we were disappointed. The wait staff were not informed on the food and wine they were serving . I was very dissatisfied with the service . And I informed the manager . I understand the shortages of workers in the United States but the people serving us last night seemed like they were recruited off the street !

Presentation of the dishes was amazing! However some of the food was served barely warm and not cooked properly. The specials were not described properly despite asking multiple questions
Be the first to ReplyA memorable dining occasion
Haven't been to St. Michael's Alley since before the pandemic. It was a delightful evening for my wife's 80th birthday. We had a great seat in the corner by two windows, the service was impeccable and the food well prepared and served promptly. Here's an overview of the food: the daily special of a tomato soup was a delight—not too spicy or bland—and wonder of wonders, it was served at just the right temperature, not too hot nor cool. The scallops were delectable and nicely paired with vegetables. The bread course was tasty (could have used more butter). The wine was very good from a very minimal selection of riesling (only two options for this world-wide popular wine). I wouldn't buy it again but it was acceptable. The dessert was great—a berry concoction that was savory and we licked the platter clean. A great ending to my wife's birthday celebration.

This restaurant is tucked into the corner of an upscale apartment complex, has a small, personal look - a series of smaller dining areas both inside and outside. The menu could be described as "New American". My wife and I shared two appetizers and two entrees, all delicious and all artfully presented - something they clearly took very seriously.
We had the heirloom carrots and tuna tartare appetizers, as I said before both delicious. I had the skirt steak and my wife the salmon, both very good. I'll only fault the risotto that came with the steak as lacking flavor. We shared a single lemon tart desert, again delicious and artfully presented, crust was a little dry, though.
We each had a cocktail, and they were prepared well - decent sizes, right amount of alcohol.
Dinner for two was about $150 with tax but not tip. Service was prompt and polite. This is a great restuaurant for a date or a business meeting.
Delightful outside dining experience
We were a group of 8 and treated very well. Excellent service and delicious food with nice presentation. Could not have been nicer. Strongly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyCharming Restaurant But Could Be Better
St. Michaels is a small, intimate restaurant, slightly more toward the formal end of the spectrum. The outdoor seating area is pleasant and relatively quiet. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The menu offers well thought out seasonal dishes to satisfy a range of preferences. The cocktails are well crafted, and the wine menu has a good variety. All said, this is a satisfying restaurant.
But, St. Michaels could be so much better. The menu reads beautifully, and the dishes are presented nicely, but the food tends toward being bland and, I’m sorry to say, unimaginative. Though all good, none of it is great. The wait staff is similarly unremarkable. Always pleasant, but often slow – always informed, but rarely around to provide additional assistance (e.g. salt or drink refills). The dining experience just doesn’t match the price. I always leave a little disappointed because there are just better restaurants.
One of our new favorite places
One of our new favorite places to safely dine out in this socially-distant era. The wait staff is highly attentive and the prix fixe menu has something for everyone. It’s a special treat to eat here.

We had a lovely dinner. Called one day ahead for a reservation and they were able to seat the two of us in their "front room" which is part of the bar. The food is consistently delicious and well prepared. Try one of the specials. My husband had the salad and wasn't disappointed. Service is always friendly. Do call for reservations in advance.
Be the first to ReplyCozy bistro with good food and service
A nice little find in the valley. Decided that it would be a nice cozy place for a business dinner. I arrived a few minutes earlier as my flight was delayed coming in, so no time to go to the hotel first.
When I arrived with my suitcase, the owner / manager was very accommodating and stored my suitcase. Had a glass of wine at the bar while I waited for my guest.
The restaurant had 3 sections, the main bar with few tables, a separate dining room and an open dining. Basically in a L shape.
Good food, not excellent as the monk fish was a bit over cooked and the pasta with braised beef lacked flavour. But the atmosphere, service and wine list makes up for it. I fact, I found a nice bottle of Sancerre for dinner.
Last minute find
We had dinner here last night and the service was relaxed and unhurried. Relaxing. The food was excellent especially the appetizers and filets. The hostess is a former owner and charming. Can’t wait to return soon.

I love this place for lunch. The restaurant is very attractive and the food is good. The staff is very welcoming. Don't forget about this restaurant when you are looking for lunch. I don't remember if they are open for dinner. I think they will also do groups.
Be the first to ReplyPost game meal!!
After watching the NU/Stanford game, we headed here for dinner. We had a great meal on the patio with exceptional service. Really enjoyed our time!!
Be the first to ReplyNice atmosphere, OK food
We went for a dinner with friends on a Thursday night. We got reservation, after arrival we were promptly seated. Our waitress was friendly and professional. I got duck and it was prepared as ordered tasted well. Food of other people in the party was of varying quality, fish dishes seemed to be the barely OK ones. Overall it is a bit pricey place for the quality of food they offer.
