Saltie Girl West Hollywood Reviews from The Last Year
Utterly delicious fish dishes!
Great service and absolutely gorgeous food. Fish was perfectly seasoned & cooked. We sat at the bar and could watch everybody working together. The atmosphere in the kitchen was so chilled. The head chef was quietly in control. We had a bit of a chat with him afterwards and he was really nice as well all the staff. If we were locals, this would be one of our regular horns. If you’re looking for great fish in WeHo, this is the place to come to ! We had the whole fried sea bass, which was so gorgeous, The octopus & scallops were perfect. The cocktails were also excellent.
This is a 10/10 restaurant.
The service and food were implacable. I can't recommend this enough
Had the wagyu, was not impressed.
Service great, area and location great. Everything was underwhelming
My friends took me to Saltie Girl for my birthday a few
My friends took me to Saltie Girl for my birthday a few months back, and we had a wonderful salty girls' dinner. The restaurant was fun and happening, the second location of a popular Boston seafood spot, in a busy part of West Hollywood (definitely take advantage of the parking lot in back, which is free for customers). It was a great place for a celebratory meal, and five felt like the right party size for taking a good run at that menu. Service was okay, friendly if not always attentive. We were led astray on some of our ordering (if a server suggests you double up on the crab toast, absolutely do not listen), but were happy overall. I had a couple of cocktails, which were both lovely. The Pineapple was a refreshing mix of reposado tequila, pineapple, lemongrass, and yuzu. The Hibiscus was a winning drink from the specials menu, made with a rum blend, lime, pineapple, agave, and clarified milk. We started with a tinned fish board, picking two tins from Saltie Girl's massive list. We got Les Mouettes d'Arvor, French sardines in extra virgin olive oil with lemon confit and chili pepper, as well as the Fishwife x Fly By Jing smoked salmon with Sichuan chili crisp. Both were delicious, served with a neat spread of accompaniments: a trio of salts, crunchy butter, pickled piparra peppers, piquillo pepper jam, and French bread. Next, we had a classically satisfying tuna tartare with avocado, aged ponzu, smoked shiitake vinaigrette, pickled mushrooms, and fried onions. Then our toasts: two comically large lump crab toasts and one tiny Santa Barbara uni toast. We should have gotten one of the crab, which was easy to split five ways, and two of the uni, which was very much not. They were both tasty. The lump crab was sweet and soft, and it came piled with avocado, pistachios, and stracciatella on a thick, golden slab of toast. The uni toast was excellent, with tomato jam, Mangalica ham, and quail egg. The charred octopus rounded out our smaller share plates, and this was great, tender and smokey, served with flcoco beans, chorizo, piquillo peppers, and fingerling potato chips. The fish and chips were excellent, a sort of fancy restaurant version with crispy battered halibut and thick-cut fries served with malt vinegar and tartar sauce. We got our fix of thin fries from our moules frites, a flawless version with white wine, garlic, butter, lemon, and herbs. The fries were golden and finished with parmesan. The lobster spaghetti was another delicious dish, a healthy portion of lobster and pasta in a smoked tomato sauce with basil, parmesan reggiano, and grilled bread. Finally, we enjoyed the char-grilled Japanese eggplant from the specials list, which came Mediterranean style with zhug sauce, falafel, and yogurt. For dessert, we shared the homemade vanilla bean and mocha swirl soft serve, which really hit the spot. We all left happy and full, with an intense new interest in tinned fish. Our text chain was all tinned fish for at least a week, and I bought several tins from Fishwife, including several of those Fly By Jing smoked salmons. I look forward to my next visit to Saltie Girl, when I will feast again on seafood in many different forms.
There was no wait when we arrived and plenty of seating.
The hostess was nice and gave us a booth. We got to the restaurant at 1 PM on a Friday and our first item, the Grand Tower was served by 1:50 PM. It came with oysters, clams, shrimp, jonah crab claws, lobster cocktail and tuna poke. My partner ate most of this tower and I only had the shrimp. Our waitress was not the worst but not a great one either. We got a very pretentious vibe from the remaining staff minus the hostess. It seemed like everyone else got their food much faster than us. The rest of what we ordered finally arrive after an hour and 15 min of waiting. Unacceptable for how quiet it was. The Mini Caviar lobster roll was portioned for an infant but tasted the best. The Uni Tuna Toast was decent too. Fries were seasoned well but very cold. It was like they scooped the ends from the basket and served it to us as it sat there cooling off the entire time we were seated. Thankfully we made it home earlier and cancelled the plans after our meal because the rest of the day was spent in gastric misery. It has now been over 2 days and my partner still hasn't recovered, is on anti-vomiting medication and wearing sea bands for nausea relief. This has by far been the worst experience of food poisoning in LA as it has resulted in nights and days of purging since Friday, shivering with body aches and extreme fatigue! Overall thoughts : Parking : convenient in the back but it was also not busy when we arrived. Service : the name doesn't lie. Food : mediocre and terribly mishandled. Ambiance : well done interior and branding. Loved the art and concept details. Music was way too loud but fit the theme. If you want to test your patience and spend your entire weekend recovering from food poisoning with terrible service, this is your spot. $350 for two heads.
Service was great but definitely overpriced seafood.
The drinks were delicious and the place is super cute
I've been wanting to try Saltie Girl since they opened.
I came for brunch and sat inside. Indoor decor was super cute - seats were slightly cramped and close to other tables. Our server was friendly and helpful with the menu. Everything we ordered was good except for the uni pasta (no flavor, just tasted like cheese noodles) and most of the items that came out wasn't hot. The soup was cold and the crab eggs benedict was cold. I think the items were just sitting at the kitchen before it was served. My two favorite items were the warm lobster roll and lox toast - the calamari was flavorful too. I would come back for the lobster roll and drinks with friends.
I have been dreaming about this spot ever since I visited.
The caviar dirty martini is to die for, as is pretty much everything honestly. The decor and the way the food is plated is an absolute dream creating such a beautiful dining experience. One star off only due to some of the pricing being a bit insane, but as a treat every once in a while the price can be worth it!
What a cute spot!! I'd been dying to try this restaurant
What a cute spot!! I'd been dying to try this restaurant for awhile and finally went for dinner. I. Am. Obsessed. I got one of the smoked salmon tinned dinners -- even though it's on the smaller side, it's so filling I couldn't eat it all in one sitting! My friend and I shared the Hokkaido Scallop -- gorgeous presentation and absolutely delicious. We also got the Warm Artisinal Bread, which came with creamy butter. To drink, I had the Pineapple, very crisp and light. For dessert, we shared the cookie. Omg. The cookie. Get it. You won't be sorry! Service was impeccable -- our server was absolutely lovely! I'd definitely come back. I can't wait to do brunch!
Overall a good experience.
The restaurant itself is beautiful and has great decor. The food was decent. We got the lobster roll, the burger, the clam chowder, the crab toast and a salad. The fries that came with the burger were too soft and not crispy. I also think the clam chowder could've used more salt. The crab toast was delicious but had to ask for a bigger plate as the toppings fell everywhere. Our waiter was nice. Don't think I will come back as I don't think it's worth the price.
Sat at the bar and had a blast.
Really fun cocktails and the bartenders were super solid.
The hype is real.
I mean, is it sceney? Yes. Is it a lot of good-looking people watch each other? Again, yes. But damn if the food isn't woke bougie, tasty shit. The Caviar Dip is like there is a God and he wants us to be happy. The Lobster Pasta is like Poseidon is real and he also wants us to be happy. The oysters were as good as they are at any upscale place that had oysters - akin to The Lonely Oyster or Fishwives - but I really think the raw bar selection is not the way to go here. We're in LA, we have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to raw seafood. So don't waste your time on some oysters, get the real specialties like the tartare, the lobster pasta and that goddamn blessed caviar dip that was brought here by angels. You'll thank me later.
Delicious food but when they brought dessert and coffee
Delicious food but when they brought dessert and coffee they really disappointed. They served the large piece of coconut cake with no dessert plates and no knife to cut the cake! Then they brought a sugar bowl with no serving spoon! Everyone can just put their spoons in the same bowl including strangers who used it before you! Totally unsanitary!! Very surprised for such a nice restaurant.
This Restaurant is very Beautiful open and airy.
The food is Delicious. My Daughter had the Farmers Market Salad, which I should have Ordered but didn't. It was full of color and flavor she added the Lobster and it was Amazing, I will return for this Salad.... I had the Breakfast Sandwich which I didn't care for the Bread was to much bread,I ate just the Egg, And I had a Pink drink can't remember the name of our but it was so delicious. The service was very attentive and swift. Overall I will be returning to try more Delicious food.

Just having been to the Boston location last month, I was excited to try this local boîte. We had an early rezzie (highly recommended as it gets loud later). Our server was charming and the food on par. It's the best "clam bake" you'll find in the area. The ambience of the Boston restaurant is cozier but that's really the only minor demerit.

This was a really awesome find in this area full of restaurants. The tin presentations are unique and delicious. The cocktails were great. I liked having the option to add high quality caviar to so many dishes. It's not cheap, but it's totally worth it. Really cool vibe too. I would come again.
Every dish was delicious.
We went for my husband's birthday and he absolutely loved it! The wait staff is fun and polite. The ambiance is upbeat (they play a lot of throw back music) and has eclectic decor. It's hard to say what our favorite dish or cocktail was. We split a lot of things so we could try as much of the menu as we could. Can't wait to go back!
I was nervous to come based on the reviews but please don't
I was nervous to come based on the reviews but please don't listen to negative reviews. This restaurant is an absolute must go. They have a full bar. The space is gorgeous and so inviting. I rarely would recommend heading to the Sunset Strip for a meal on a Friday night but a good move is to go early and just enjoy. We absolutely loved the broiled scallops, the oysters, the clam chowder (definitely enough for 2) and the warm lobster roll. That actually was the best lobster roll I've ever had. We will brave the drive over the canyon to snuggle up to the bar and dive in.

I started going to Saltie girl and pretty much became a regular. The food is incredible but the service just isn't there. I went last Thursday night and my server was MIA. My group was very upset with how slow it was and why our server was always gone. I really want to be a regular here but I value service a lot and they need some better training.

They have pulled off a great feat of casual comfortable high end experience coupled with great food, drink and service. Had a great meal with friends, a great bottle of wine and a great piece of fish. Will have to try the "tinned fish" next time. Looking forward to that.
Great dining experience in L.A.
Walking through Hollywood, we passed by Sunset Boulevard, looking for a good place to have dinner and at the same time following Marco Beteta's recommendation (thanks for that Marco) we arrived at Saltie Girl. What a pleasant experience, since arrival, the attention of the staff has been excellent. The incredible food. The charcoal octopus, the lobster role, the famous clam chowder, the fried artichokes...all delicious. Don't miss it if you're in Los Angeles, CA.
Sunset Blvd
Excellent meal. We followed MB's recommendation and it was a great success. Although we limited ourselves practically to starter dishes, we found everything to be very good and of quality. The lobster roll is the best in flavor and texture. The fried artichokes are excellent and the clam chowder goes without saying. Very Boston style. The tatemado octopus is also very good. Beautiful, elegant atmosphere without being pretentious and first class attention. The prices are not low, but it was worth it. To return permanently…
Not bad for breakfast
We were here for breakfast, we lived nearby Good service, nice nice atmosphere The cuisine is not bad, but I wouldn’t come here specifically
Bit Pricey But Worth It!
Our daughter lives in LA so when we recently visited she took us to this place because we wanted to try it out and the tinned fish thing is just so darn trendy these days. Started with a small seafood tower and some tinned mackerel and anchovies. And some excellent cocktails, of course! Also some of their house caviar, which was pleasantly affordable and quite good. From there it was a blur of small plates: I recall some broccolini, a nice salad, a branzino (quite large), and 2-3 more. The four of us ate family-style and everyone enjoyed themselves. It's a bit pricey - hey, it Sunset, right? - but the vibe is chill, lots of beautiful people, and great food and atmosphere. A special shoutout to our server. My memory fails me on her name but she was one of the best I've ever encountered!
