San Laurel Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Stayed in the Conrad for the weekend and got to dine here
Stayed in the Conrad for the weekend and got to dine here for both a breakfast and dinner. Breakfast: shared an omelet with mushrooms and manchego cheese (which was delicious!) and a side of chicken sausage. Juice was very fresh but I'd expect that for the $12 a glass. Overall the ingredients and dishes are clearly high quality and well-made, great start to a day! Dinner: dinner was just amazing. We ordered the Mac & cheese, mushrooms, and lamb chops. Meat was cooked perfectly, mushrooms were creamy and flavorful, and the Mac n cheese was unlike any I've had before, in a good way. I would definitely recommend all 3. We were seated right under the chilly air conditioning I believe so the food did get cold pretty quickly unfortunately. The dining space itself does have a nice ambiance and good view when the weather is nice. I had to remove a star only because the service I experienced was not up to the standard that other reviews raved about. At breakfast they forgot our juice until we reminded the staff toward the end of our meal, but not a big deal. At dinner, our server seemed to be devoting so much time and attention to talking story with the guests seated next to us that we struggled to get his attention for the check.

The crudo was phenomenal, all of the food we tried including lamb, flat iron, asparagus, and tomato carpaccio were fantastic, and the service was above and beyond--you all made our day. Thank you!

A group of friends and myself came to San Laurel before an 8:00 show at the Walt. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is due to the food as the mac and cheese + lamb chops we ordered weren't quite for our palettes specifically. This, however, did not take away from the fact that we received such amazing service. We started at the bar with Enrique who was simply amazing. The drinks (I HIGHLY recommend the Flyer) he prepared were perfect along with his attention. We were able to take our drinks over to the couch seating and chat more as a group (& not take up bar space any longer) which was great. I'll definitely be back for drinks again! Thanks Enrique!

One of my favorite downtown restaurants, amazing views and yummy dishes! If attending performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall or Ahmanson Theatre, a great food spot before or after! Everything is incredible, each dish so flavorful. Hands down favorite is Jose Andres interpretation of Mac n' cheese. It's light, delicious cheese and the egg yolk compliments every bite. Anytime I dine here, I have to order it! Love that any dish can be shared at the table, the lobster salpicon devoured in seconds! You can't go wrong with anything on this menu. Save room for dessert! The burnt cheesecake unique and different but divine also loved the dehydrated chocolate mousse. Staff is welcoming and helpful when you have the difficult decision of narrowing down what to order, because it's that good.

We were staying at the Conrad and decided to have breakfast/brunch at San Laurel and we were blown away. My husband and I both agree that this was one of the best brunches we've ever had in terms of food. We got the yogurt & granola and omelette. Omelette was delicious as well but the yogurt & granola...which sounds straightforward and very basic was most definitely the standout for us. The chef found a way to uplevel this dish very elegantly. The granola was perfectly crunchy and not overly sweet. We've been obsessed with recreating this granola ever since we tried this dish. We're not big breakfast or brunch people, but San Laurel has captivated and convinced us enough to reconsider. Ambiance is a nice California modern vibes with outdoor seating available. Seems dog friendly too!

I went for a fancy dinner with my partners and a pair of friends. It was excellent - food, drinks, and service. Looking forward to when we might have another reason to return.

The ambience is lit! You would always want to come and chill after a long day! Also I love the rack of lamb and wild mushrooms. The overall flavor is deep but not over the top. I like the medium rare for rack of lamb cause it's tender and juicy. I also like to commend our server Kevin and the one guy who really took effort to get us a great pictures, his name is Alfonso, thank you!
Fish and lamb are great and also very good service.
Did not expect to be this impressed from a hotel restaurant.
My girlfriend and I had a short girls' weekend in downtown
My girlfriend and I had a short girls' weekend in downtown LA and stayed at The Conrad. The hotel itself was amazing but it was made even better by our breakfast experience! The restaurant was cute and bright. The food was simply phenomenal! The Open Face Omelet was hands-down the best omelet I've ever had - and the pork sausage on the side was the perfect complement. The orange juice was so fresh and delicious. The service was good. My girlfriend and I are still raving about this meal and I'll be dreaming of that omelet for weeks to come!
Spain Meets California
I had this restaurant on my must visit list and yay it did not disappoint! Our server, Andrea, was so knowledgeable and her recommendations were spot on for me in the way of my cocktail the Watermelon Report which consisted of Vodka, Watermelon, Lemongrass, Mandarin, Lime, Cilantro Chipotle & Cumin tincture. So refreshing and I report it was special & delicious. Her rec for my app the HIRAMASA CRUDO(buttermilk, leche de tigre, basil, cucumber caviar, pickled blueberries) was so good- I wanted more! We had the COCA IDIAZÁBAL(olive oil cracker, membrillo, Idiazábal cheese) it had a bit too much cheese. It was fun to see the jamon iberico station and the ambience was elegant and sophisticated. Drink and wine selection was great. Even saw wines from the Canary Islands we just visited last month. So fun to feel the Spain vibe in Los Angeles! We visited for breakfast as well. We enjoyed their coffee and olive oil mini pancakes. Great service then too. San Laurel did not disappoint.
Great Hip Dining Experience in Downtown LA
A surprisingly good dinner spot next to Walt Disney Hall! The service was excellent and our waiter was knowledgeable about the food and the wine list. He gave us good recommendations on Spanish wines and cocktails. The food was lovely and I highly recommend it to anyone, who wants a good meal in an elegant but yet casual atmosphere.
Exquisite dining in downtown Los Angeles
We had dinner at San Laurel while staying at the Conrad for the weekend. The menu is varied and creative, as one might expect from Jose Andres and the food was tasty and beautifully presented. When ordering we took a few suggestions from our waiter and they were spot on. Service was top notch. The restaurant was busy and seems popular. San Laurel is pricey and would be an especially nice destination for a special occasion.
Our New Favorite for Fine Dining.
My wife and I were celebrating our 21 year anniversary. We were running late for our 7:00 reservation, so we called and they gladly switched us to 7:15. When we arrived we were seated directly in front of the kitchen and we could see everything. we ordered the Ojo Blanco, for me and the Black Mission Figs for my wife. She really didn't like the figs so we traded. I thoroughly enjoyed the figs, some bites were better than others depending on which greens were in the spoon. The Ojo Soup maybe the best soup I ever had, if not definitely the best cold soup I ever had. Next we had the duck and the Wild Mushrooms both were tasty we had no complaints. Then I added the mac & cheese because I was still a little hungry. It came pretty quick and boy it was fantastic. My wife said it was the best she ever had. For dessert we had the pistachio cake and the Tarta de Queso. What a wonderful treat that was, the pistachio cake was good too. Service was superlative and the iced tea was very good, and strong. Valet parking was $15.00 w/ validation.
Remarkable Food and the View is Good Too!
We ate dinner at San Laurel before attending a concert at Disney Hall. We found the setting to be amazing with an incredible view. There was a nice buzz in the restaurant and people seemed to enjoy themselves. Service was top notch from beginning to end. Yes, it is pricey, but the quality of cocktails, along with the careful and obviously labor intensive preparation made for a memorable night. We started with the COCA IDIAZÁBAL along with the fennel soup. They were a sight for the eyes and pleasing to the pallate. The duck breast was terrific, but a bit skimpy in the portion size. A couple of vegetable sides filled out the evening. For dessert we enjoyed the dehydrated chocolate mousse and tarta de queso. The chocolate dessert was a hit, thebtarta a miss, the texture and flavor seemed off. We definately will return, fornthe view and inventiveness of the food

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
