Better places in area
Whilst this cute, Italian bistro, off the beaten track, looks inviting, cosy & potentially a 'great find' this was not my experience. I visited as a solo customer, and whilst there were available tables, I was seated up against the bar area; which clearly is better suited for drinks or very small snacks. There wasn't any hooks to hang my coat & bag, and staff did not offer to store my belongings elsewhere. Sadly the staff seemed overall, disengaged, not particularly friendly, or at all attentive. It was possibly, a 'bad day at the office' kinda vibe, & on a quiet January evening, may be they didn't see the need to be. The menu read well, but the food arrived was somewhat disappointing, lacking seasoning, any depth of flavour and not very authentic. Pasta was not homemade, the Ragu was thin and without any depth of intensity which is found in many, authentic Italian restaurants. If I was in the area again, I would consider somewhere different, & really hope this was an exception.

Situated in a residential area of Kensington San Pietro beckons you in with loads of Italian colour but sadly that is the only good aspect of this restaurant. The staff were not interested in giving any service and the cuisine was anything but Italian. I had Paccheri Al Ragu Di Vitello and when I saw it I was alarmed to see it swimming in cream. We also ordered Parmigiana Di Melanzane which had been cooked to a frazzle and the Pasta con cozze was way too salty. I do recall that this used to be a good Italian Restaurant. Whats happened San Pietro?

On 14 November 22 I booked a table for 4 people on Christmas Eve at the San Pietro, having heard good things about it. I received an email confirmation for this booking. I had friends visiting from out of town, we were going to Christmas at the Albert Hall and wanted an early supper after the performance. On the 18th December I was shocked to receive an email, directly from St Pietro saying my booking had been cancelled. No explanation just 'we cannot accommodate your booking and have had to cancel'. I called them up to ask why and all I was told was 'there is no booking' ' we are not open'. The person on the phone was very abrupt, and made no attempt to apologise or explain. I understand that restaurants may need to change plans, but waiting over a month after having booked to cancel and doing it in the way they did is a little shoddy in my opinion. It was then a little late in the day to find a table somewhere suitable in the area, which resulted in a ruined evening. No somewhere I will be trying to visit again!
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Italian in Kensington
Tucked away in the Kensington neighborhood, San Pietro is a delightful surprise in an unassuming setting. Staying at a nearby hotel on a frigid evening, I sought out an Italian restaurant nearby, and discovered San Pietro on Trip Advisor. A single diner, I was immediately greeted by two members of the waitstaff and offered a seat at the bar. Actually, the “bar” is a row of about half a dozen high stools with a full view of the food prep area, which ran most of the its length. I enjoyed watching the cooks preparing stunning meals with unusual precision and speed. I ordered penne arrabbiata and an arugula salad with grape tomatoes and parmigiano, as well as a glass of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. My setup soon arrived, including homemade bread and complimentary pickled carrots. The pasta was cooked to perfection, al dente, and the sauce, perfectly arrabbiata. The bread, salad and carrots complemented the pasta perfectly. This meal was as authentically Italian as any I’ve had in Italy. I’m looking forward to sharing this dining experience with family and friends when I return to London.

A Cosy restaurant with delicious Black Risotto. The service is best in London. The vibe is amazing. Extremely friendly, cheerful staff. Fried Calamari and black Risotto is a must! Highly recommended.

Lovely, homely Italian in a quiet corner of Kensington. Food, service and atmosphere were all good. Pizzas especially were really good. Would definitely return when next in the area.
Be the first to ReplyA great lunch
A small, unpretentious place that serves superb Italian. We had the burrata, linguine and pappardele. All were great. The service was efficient and very attentive. All in all, a most pleasant lunch. We will go back.

The place is always busy and tables are close to each other but the food is delicious and the team really good. I always enjoy going here.
Be the first to Replygood food but over-priced and noisy
The restaurant was crowded, on a Monday evening, and very very noisy. Service was good, even though they were very busy, we didn't have to wait too long for the food. 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 glass of house wine each, 1 coffee each - with service was about £120, which I would say is about 50% more than you'd pay anywhere else in the UK
Be the first to ReplyNOT FOR US
The restaurant is quite small with limited uncomfortable seating on the ground floor. The Italian waiter / manager serving us was very unwelcoming, unfriendly, and largely uninterested during our visit. We found him quite rude with his communication but seemed more friendly with some fellow diners who were at the restaurant at the same time. The food was nothing special and tasteless. The tomato sauce which is the most basic sauce for an Italian restaurant to get right was very bland and low quality. My pasta was overcooked, and they didn’t even bring fresh cheese with a grater to the table instead only had standard parmesan that you can buy in the supermarket. The baby chicken dish my partner had was bland and had almost no meat on the chicken … Overall a very poor lunch experience in terms of the food, service and ambiance and we will not return.

We found the staff largely disinterested in us. We find local Italian restaurants generally welcoming , this was very much lacking in warmth. We had fish, the sea bass was pretty oily. The rest of the food was fine. It came to around £90 per head including a bottle of wine. No issue with the price given where the restaurant is. I don’t think it was good value. We won’t go there again but tI don’t think the waiting staff will miss us.

Let me get this out of the way - the food is fantastic. Mind you, that is "fantastic" in the same way that the food in your neighborhood trattoria in Italy is fantastic - not Perfect, but certainly waaaay better than you can make, or heck, you'd probably get wherever you live. Also, fantastic in the sense of the waiter straight up telling you to not get something 'cos it isn't all that good that day. The vibes are very much "Italy meets England", i.e., when the service is good, it's very very good, and when it's bad, it's straight up British (you can't see, hear, or find the waiter for a good 30 minutes, so touch luck on that glass of grappa.) And yet, the place has heart, the people are nice, and the food, like I said, is fantastic!

We stumbled across this little gem whilst in London for the weekend, we googled restaurants close to our hotel and were impressed by other reviews. We didn’t have a reservation but we’re welcome I. To a very busy restaurant and sat at the bar to eat. We had a prime view of the chefs - and the fish on offer! We were not disappointed and will definitely return. The food (and drinks) a little more than we would normally pay but well worth it.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and authentic Italian dishes and a lovely staff and ambience
We had a celebratory dinner with my husband at San Pietro which had been recommended by friends and neighbours in the area. We had the zucchini fritti and the polpe di vitello (meatballs) for starters. The meatballs were absolutely delicious. For mains my husband had the seafood linguini and I had the parcci pasta with vitello. They were both excellent. We were so full we couldn’t order desserts!

Went on a date with my boyfriend trying to have a nice evening to celebrate his new job. Manager and staff downstairs were very friendly to us, however we were transferred to a bearded waiter, wearing a plad red shirt and hair slick back, he was incredibly rude the whole evening. We ordered pizza and wine, all nice. He proceeded to tell the neighbouring table that they are not a pizzeria, and that everything else is nicer, whilst pointing at our table. He didn’t offer to take our coats, which he did to all other tables. He undermined our evening and made us feel like we weren’t worth being there, which is ridiculous. We will not be repeating, and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
