Serendipity 3 New York Reviews from The Last Year
Delicious food people love to come back for more with good
Delicious food people love to come back for more with good service Even delivery to enjoy at home
It’s not serendipitous, it’s Serendipity!
This was my 2nd time going to Serendipity and I got the iconic John Cusack table!! I made reservations both times. The 1st time was in December but f 2022 & I was really glad I had a reservation. This time it was the end of August and the restaurant was somewhat empty. The food is pretty good but the main objective is of course the frozen hot chocolate which is beyond delicious! This time I even picked up the premade jar to try making at home. Who knew you could also make actual hot chocolate with it! I love this restaurant! The food, service and ambiance are wonderful! I’ll be back again and again!

It was my daughters birthday and we had a very very good time and our waitress was the best I had in a long time. All the food was excellent ! The atmosphere in here is very lively and original and old school which me and my daughter enjoyed! If you can finish your food your are better than me and my daughter lol we definitely left stuffed! Once again our waitress Lizbeth A. was great... give her A+ and the place a A+!
Awful food selection, nothing but junk food.
70% of every meal is french fries. Why is there no option of fruit or vegetable substitute for little kids? We paid $16 for a tiny slider and an enormous pile of french fries for our child. How is ice- cream not included in kids meals? 5 year olds don't need a giant ice-cream. Every dessert was ridiculously overpriced, not tasty, and more than half of it was an artificial whipped cream. On service: it took a long time for someone to get an order, and for french fries, I mean food, to come out. This restaurant could create 3 times smaller portions of food and desserts without heaps of french fries and synthetic whipped cream without sacrificing the esthetic and hopefully adding on some taste.
Disappointed
Birthday for a child, small family group. Crowded, small, noisy, old, did not feel clean or special. Overpriced "diner" food, few healthy options. Overpriced desserts, none were children sized.

Serendipity is one of those ice cream places that's really good but also really expensive. The ice cream is great and they had many different options. A little pricey for ice cream, but it was delicious. Service was okay. They were not the friendliest. Which is why this review is down to a 3 star. I would recommend any ice cream lover to try this place. The interior of the ice cream shop was nice and clean.

If you want to be immersed back to your childhood this is the place for you. Not only does the food remind of what you ate as a child they have a twist to hot chocolate. The frozen hot chocolate is so big and yummy... be very prepared to have your mind blown. We brought my dearest friend here for her birthday and the staff and other customers sang her happy birthday! Sorry I took pictures after we demolished it. I'm sure there are a lot of other peoples pics from when they bring it to the table. They have fun stuff for you to purchase as well.
Berto was an amazing host.
He took care of our needs way before we even noticed that we are running out of refill. He was polite, courteous, and knowledgeable.

In all the years I've lived right outside NYC, I've never eaten here. I've tried, but couldn't get in. My friend had made reservations here as a treat for the girls a few weeks prior to our visit. The waiter was great, the best part of the experience. The menu was limited, and pricey, and the frozen cocktails were all unavailable with the exception of the Pina Colada which I am allergic too. The atmosphere is so cute, and the girls really loved it. Would I go back for a special occasion probably, but do I think it's worth it? Not really....

We had an amazing first experience! The atmosphere and service by Lizbeth was top notch!

My family of 5 had a great time here! Very friendly service, good food and even better deserts! The sundaes are definitely splittable, we got 2 for our family and even that was a lot. Be prepared to spend a lot of money, as most everything on the menu was pricey and it adds up quickly. It's an experience that I don't think we will return to because of the cost, but the experience was certainly memorable, especially for the kids!

Came for the obligatory frozen hot chocolate and it was delicious. Everything else was less to be desired. There is a minimum spend requirement per person so we ordered drinks and a side of onion rings. The drinks weren't that great and the onion rings were just ok.
Great cobb salad!
Great cobb salad and burgers! Loved the 80s music and the atmosphere. The desserts were also delicious. Recommend booking ahead.
Dreamed of
Beautiful place, enjoy an iced coffee and an apple pie with ice cream. The very friendly waitress Melly. Dream come true, since I saw the movie Serendipity I dreamed of knowing. I even have a tattoo of the word. Highly recommended 🙂
Fun & Whimsical
Lisbeth was fabulous! Service was fantastic! Buffalo chicken sandwich with truffle fries were fantastic. The atmosphere is fun and bright! Dessert was huge, we had the Forbidden Broadway. GO, ask for Lisbeth!
Ask for Lizbeth, get a frozen hot chocolate!!!
Lizbeth needs to be employee of the year, or the boss. Someone tell Selina!!!! Wonderful experience!!! Amazing food, frozen hot chocolate is to die. Even the spoon had character!!!
What a spectacle
Was another experience as it should be. Huge meals and very colorful! The quality is okay not outstanding but the whole experience is really wearth it.
Great lunch & dessert
I brought my teen son for his first visit at lunch time. He got the bacon mac and cheese and I had the cobb salad. My salad was huge and full of fresh toppings and his mac & cheese was creamy and delicious (I tried a bite). The portions were huge and I always feel bad for not taking the leftovers, but our hotel didn’t provide a refrigerator in our room. We saved room to share a frozen hot chocolate for dessert, which was also amazing. There is a per-person minimum spend here (I think it’s $22.95) so if you were planning on coming to split one dessert item, plan to add drinks and apps or try multiple desserts. Reservations are highly recommended because they get super busy and the wait gets long sometimes.
Great food and fun atmosphere.
The service is excellent. Natalie said it is her new favorite restaurant and Aly loved the frozen hot chocolate.

Serendipity 3 is another NY institution that was high on my bucket list. I remember first hearing about this place and their frozen hot chocolate from my sister years ago. We were in Las Vegas and she wanted to visit their location at Caesar's Palace because of the 2001 movie "Serendipity" starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. I only watched the movie a couple of years ago but I have been wanting to visit the original shop in New York. My cousin and I headed here for dessert one evening. We were super lucky that we were actually seated at the same table John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale sat at in the movie. It's located upstairs in front of the fireplace. This place is famous for their frozen hot chocolate that even Jackie O. was a fan, it's said that she even asked for the recipe for a party she was throwing, the owner declined but offered to make it for her. The recipe has since been released to the public. I ordered their S'mores Frrrozen Hot Chocolate $21.95. It's pretty good but it's a lot. It's too much for a person to finish by themselves. However, they do have a minimum purchase of $18.95 per person, so my cousin had to order his own dessert. I do feel a bit bad for the food waste, since in no way did either of us get through even half of our desserts. I'd suggest maybe one person ordering a dessert and the other order something savory to balance it out. Overall a cute ice cream shop. They do have a mini gift shop near their host stand at the front for souvenir purchases.
We got appetizers instead of actual meals, and the potatoes
We got appetizers instead of actual meals, and the potatoes were so good! Our waitresses were great as well. Serendipity is such a cute and fun place to go to, I would definitely recommend going on your next trip to NYC!
This is a nice place to get some fun desserts.
I definitely recommend the frozen hot chocolates. I got the original which tastes like a chocolate milkshake and my fiancé got an Oreo one. They are pretty big so two people can definitely share if you're ordering other items. We also got nachos with fried chicken and wagyu sliders. The nachos were okay but the sliders were pretty delicious. Most items / apps on the menu are around $20 an item. Great place for kids especially on their birthdays!
Great food and amazing desserts!
I went with my teen daughter on a recent trip to NYC and she loved it. Beyond the desserts they are known for, the dinner was excellent casual fare as well. Her desert was amazing and really large! They sang happy birthday to many tables throughout the night so would be great for that too! .

The service was friendly, the food was great, and the sundae was amazing!! Thanks for a great time!

Amazing service and food! The music is a great mix of 60s through to the 2000s. It is also a very kid friendly place with a little shop at the front! Our waitress told us that the fries and golden sundae have never been ordered! All the things in the expensive section are fully covered jn 24k edible gold!! So far the best ice-cream place I have ever been. Our waitress (Akeena)was also very good, she was nice to us and answers all of our questions! Definitely deserves a raise!
NYC Trip
I’ve visited Serendipity 3 many times, and I’m from California. My last visit was with family, and my cousin’s first time in NYC. I finally got to sit upstairs, it was amazing since that’s where the Serendipity movie took place, and the ambiance and the employees at Serendipity were attentive and hospitable. Making a reservation is highly recommended due to its popularity and space of the restaurant.
Very Busy. Unique Dessert Diner
Food was good. Service was excellent. Very high end desserts are their specialty. Lots of children present! It you are in the area, and want a very good, very expensive dessert, then I would recommend it. The food was just OK. Probably will not be back unless we are in the neighborhood.
Made a 10:45p reservation for after our 7p Hamilton show.
Gave us enough time to meander through time square before catching an Uber over. (If you skip people watching at time square, you may be able to make it at 10:30...though there were open tables that you could probably walk-in and get seated). Didn't realize this until researching, booking a res, and then seeing on the menu...they require a min purchase of about $20 per person! A bit steep, but it is what it is. Most everything on the menu is about $20, so everyone would need to order one thing, either savory or sweet. Service was super friendly. They close at 11p, and they weren't super pushy to get you out, which was nice. We ordered a decent amount of food. The only thing we left on the table was the frozen hot chocolate. Should have ordered two portions of the boneless buffalo wings bc those things were great!! So were the fries. Cute decor and vibe to the place. Will probably come back one day.
Can’t wait to go here again!
A wonderful experience! The staff was helpful and efficient, and the frozen hot chocolate was outstanding!! Can’t wait to go here again!
Expensive, but big portions, so plan to share
Frozen hot chocolate is, of course, the thing you want to order here. Ours were delicious. The space is loud, but in a fun way. Food was so-so, fine but expensive. Main recommendation: everything is huge, so unless you have an enormous appetite order with a plan to share. Even doing that you'll still come in over the $18.95 minimum spend per person.
Absolute fever dream of a dining experience.
Comically large menus, hot sweats, shaking, awful vibes and random flash photography -- 10/10.

As long as you know what you're getting yourself into, you'll be fine. This place has been around forever but it's never been known for great food. The best thing we had was their famous Frozen Hot Chocolate. Only finished half of a burger and some of the appetizers. We didn't even eat fries as they tasted like they'd been cooked in old oil. Service was great and kept them at 4 stars. Cute place, cute merch.
Fun for kids!
Very fun spot, especially with young kids! The portions are very large and the food is good. But the real treat is the frozen hot chocolate. We had one cookies and cream and one chocolate mint. Both were so good but the cookies and cream was excellent! Definitely worth a stop.
Completely overrated.
Theres nothing I could recommend about this place. Maybe take a peak inside the door to see the inside, but thats it. Extremely over priced, the service isn't good (they auto add gratuity so they don't care) and the atmosphere is dirty.

Food was amazing! Portions were big and desert was PHENOMENAL! Service was nice and sang happy birthday to me! Only problem was when it gets busy, which it almost always is, service is hard to get. Other than that, everything was good! Especially the decor!
Nothing in the world like Frozen Hot Chocolate
Serendipity is an iconic New York institution. The frozen hot chocolate is something you can rely on in this crazy, falling apart world. I hadn't been to Serendipity in over a decade. The frozen hot chocolate is amazing, as it has always bee. And the overall experience at the restaurant has improved. You can now make a reservation! Our server was so friendly, as was the hostess.
Disappointing
Just very disappointed. We came for the frozen hot chocolate but decided to have lunch as well. We ordered a hot dog which was drenched in mustard to the point where it was unpalatable. The chicken burger was very dry. The desert was just bland & not very exciting. The staff were very enthusiastic & helpful. Top marks to them.
Cute restaurant that caters to kids and families
I heard this was a cute restaurant with great desserts when I booked it. However, this restaurant is more suited for people with children and tweens. My college-aged daughter and I were annoyed by all the kids running around and parents not giving a care in the world (this was one large group in the restaurant). The restaurant is small so when a few kids run around and scream, they are literally right in your face. Not the dinner we had hoped to have. Food was overpriced -- we paid $13.90 for two Diet Cokes! Food was fine and dessert was huge -- can be shared by multiple people. We spent over $100 for 2 people for dinner, Diet Cokes and one dessert. I would have preferred to have spent that money somewhere that caters to more of an adult crowd.
Never disappoints
Made a last minute reservation this past Saturday. When we arrived we were seated immediately. Our waiter Josue was friendly and efficient. Brought my 7 year old niece for her first visit. We started with a frozen hot chocolate which was delicious and the look on her face was priceless. The girls had Mac and cheese and I had the sliders, wanted to save room for dessert. We ended with the cowards banana split 3 scoops of ice cream v. 6. Everyone left happy and full. Good time, a NYC classic.

Anyone know how increase payout transfer to bank as I can only send $50 a day and they charge $5 for every transaction. There must be a way. I’ve contacted support two days ago and not a reply.
