Great omkase! Might be the best bang for your buck in NYC.
17 pieces for $100 pieces and extremely tasty. Would definitely come back. They were super attentive.

Be the first to ReplyWas looking for a new date night spot and at this price
Was looking for a new date night spot and at this price point, Shiki omakase provides good value for money. Their 12 piece menu is just the right amount of food. Highlight for me was the A5 steak and uni combo piece, it was definitely unique. I didn't love the lack of a hand roll at the end though, they made us order it separately and it was not cheap. They also have a good selection of sake and beer, or you can BYO for a corkage fee. Make sure to arrive on time to savor the full experience!

This was my first omakase and it was definitely an experience! The staff was welcoming and interactive, explaining every piece of fish and any accompanying sauce. It was super cool to see them make and assemble everything in front of you. Every piece was amazing and melted in your mouth, the uni was also super fresh and buttery. The place is small but cozy with the counter top seating around 10 or so. I personally think this was a little too expensive for the amount but thats just my personal opinion.

Shiki Omakase in New York City offers a top-notch dining experience with a serene ambiance and attentive service. Its minimalist yet elegant decor and friendly staff create an inviting atmosphere. The chef's mastery of Japanese cuisine shines through in every dish, from delicate sashimi to expertly crafted sushi rolls. Despite its high quality, Shiki manages to keep prices reasonable, making it a favorite and unforgettable dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyFood was very decent.
Fish was very fresh for the price but the rice was hard. Service was whatever. Beware with their payment device that they set their lowest suggested tips from 25% after tax even for lunch. You may be end up paying over 35%-40% tips of what you actually ordered if you are not careful. I took down one star for their service and another star for their aggressive tipping system.
Be the first to ReplyVery quiet and quaint restaurant.
Had the smaller portion Omakase dinner and the sushi was very fresh and many pieces literally melted in your mouth. Would highly recommend because of the quality, attentive service and price. I've been to several Omakase restaurants in New York City and this is the one I will definitely return to. Added plus: There is plenty of street parking available just around the corner!
Be the first to ReplyThis was my first time experiencing omakase in New York
This was my first time experiencing omakase in New York City. I had heard some good things about this place, and the cost of $65 pp for a 12-course menu really drew us in. To note, we made reservations (credit card required to hold reservations). It wasn't fully booked when we went but I'm not sure if they allow walk-ins. All-in-all, this experience was great. The chefs were efficient and kind, but didn't rush us through the experience. They gave us time to savor each course and asked us for our opinions following our course. It is set in a small counter-only restaurant in SoHo, and the intimate setting was clean and minimalist. For $65, you get 12 courses which include uni, toro, caviar, wagyu, and scallop (my favorite). At the end of the 12 courses, they ask you if you would like to add on any additional courses which we opted not to do but it is nice they have the option. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for an affordable omakase experience with good quality ingredients.

an omakase for under $100 ($65 to be exact) for 12 delightful pieces of sushi - and it's GOOOOD! the staff is extremely friendly and the chefs are talented and chill - making the experience super enjoyable. It's counter seating as you get to see the chefs prepare each individual piece with so much care. My friend is GF and they even brought out GF soy sauce and prepared her pieces separately. the fatty tuna was melt in your mouth delicious and the hotate scallop was the perfect texture and just dissolved. Just overall a lovely experience with fresh fish and a great ambiance, so worth it

The food was delicious and prepared with care but the experience was rushed as they only allow one hour and try to move you along quite rudely. I am used to being served with an explanation of each piece and time to savor each bite. At this location, six pieces were presented together and we were reprimanded when we did not eat quickly enough for them to dump six more. We had a seven pm reservation at at 7:55 were ordered to leave as the next seating was at the door even though we were not done. They should have fewer seatings and adopt the two hour seating time slot that is appropriate for fine dining and good conversation over well prepared sushi.

One of, if not the, best experiences I've had in a restaurant. Wish I had the 17 piece omakase just so I could stay longer. Chefs and servers were very friendly, the bar was nice and relaxed, there was the perfect amount of time to cleanse your palette between each piece, and of course there was a great variety of delicious sushi. Already planning on going again!

They were very attentive and also v quick probably because of the quick turn around between sets. It's a hard hour. Did the 17 course omakase. The eel was my least favourite while being my most anticipated. Really enjoyed the squid, king salmon and scallop sets. Very memorable. Nice jazzy music was playing or renditions of popular songs, it was nice and quirky.

The service was amazing to start, but the food was even better. We did the 12 course omakase for $65 and every price of nigiri was amazing and such high quality. The pieces were a little small but that's what you get when you eat sushi in nyc in a budget. The staff is super friendly and since it was someone's birthday they turned the lights off and played "birthday song" by 50 cent. Will definitely be coming back

this was my first omakase experience! i had such a fun time at shiki, the staff was so nice, all of the pieces were very delicious and fresh, and overall it was just good vibes!my fav pieces were def the wagyu + uni, uni + truffle, kumamoto oyster, hotate, and the toro caviar. i also got an extra piece as a lil bday treat!i highly recommend esp for the price (12 pieces for $65). there's also an option for a 17 piece omakase for $100 if you're feeling extra hungry. but i thought the 12 pieces itself was pretty filling!what we got:- a5 wagyu + uni - kumamoto oyster - madai - hamachi- salmon- akamizuki- hotate - kanpachi- toro + caviar - uni + truffle - albacore tuna- bbq eel- bday piece (not pictured)ig: @whatsviveating

Got to visit this place on my recent NYC trip and it was so good! The pieces are definitely a lot smaller than i've ever seen/am used to, but I didn't mind because I had already been eating all day that day. I suppose I would feel different if I hadn't... but regardless, everything was extremely good and so worth the price. I also want to add that the sushi chefs are all so cute (attitude wise) and seem very kind! Very good vibes with them, made me happier to be there. I would totally come back if I could!
Be the first to ReplyNot a bad omakase spot and also very affordable.
They have price ranges, a 12 piece for $65 and 17 piece for $100. I was tempted to get the 17 piece because there were some pieces I really wanted that they didn't have in the 12piece (like the ebi), but opted for the lesser one. Most of the pieces were pretty good, but nothing really stellar to me. I wasn't a huge fan of the rice; felt like it was very clumpy and couldn't really feel the grains. It's not BYOB, but you can order sake.

Small place, but relaxing and comfortable ambiance with great service from the chefs. Food was amazing and definitely worth it compared to other places in NYC. Lin was great, will definitely be returning.
Be the first to ReplyNothing too special about the fish.
You get what you pay for. Plating is pretty but the fish didn't have any amazing flavors or textures.
Be the first to ReplyMy friends liked it (+1 star) but unfortunately I struggled.
For $60, it's a great introduction to omakase but you get what you pay for. Firstly, I personally found the rice to be over marinated. It was clumpy, too much marinate and hard to swallow. The fish was a little too thinly sliced as well. The first two courses were not nigiris which was surprising - a Kumamoto oyster for the first lol. The added Winter was good but also cos there was no rice on it.Staff were on the young side. They were attentive, sometimes too attentive with multiple servers asking us the same questions.Would not return back but hey $60 is a great deal for omakase
Be the first to ReplyFood was incredible and all the chefs were inviting and
Food was incredible and all the chefs were inviting and awesome. The problem I had was the one hour limit and the servers. I felt like I was constantly rushed and the servers were very antsy. All the pieces came one after the other and I felt dismissed multiple times when I asked if I could order tea or get more water. I feel like the best parts of Omakase are enjoying time with the chef, taking your time to eat good food, and having the staff want you to be there and have fun. If you're okay with a rushed service, then yeah this place is great. Again: the food is awesome. The quality is really good and the pieces are delicious. But idk I personally didn't think it was worth it.

Food: (4/5) I got the 17 piece omakase for $100 which was super tasty. My only critique would be one sushi - it has wagyu and uni wrapped with seaweed - the flavor of the main ingredients was overpowered a bit by the seaweed. It was quite filling at the moment but after 2 hours, I got a bit hungry, so portion-wise, for the set, it wasn't really enough for me. My favorites however were the toro with caviar and this fish that tasted citrusy (unfortunately forgot what it was called). The fish literally melts in my mouth, fresh, with a burst of flavor. What a delicacy.Service: (5/5) Great service - chef said what each sushi was before serving. The waiters came to check in every so often. Atmosphere: (4/5) Like other reviewers mentioned, you technically get 1.5 hour of time to eat, but it really takes an hour for you to finish your meal - the sushi gets served pretty quickly, so I intentionally took my time to eat to fully enjoy the experience. Even then I only took an hour of time to eat. I think that it's a great place to take a date to (hence my boyfriend taking me here) - omakase is quite a personal experience.

Went for my birthday dinner, definitely the highest quality sushi I've ever had. Great service and nice small spot for dinner. I loved it, would definitely go again.
Be the first to ReplyCould not recommend this place more highly.
For everything. The service was excellent, special shout-out to Johnny who took care of us all evening and even offered us a seasonal special of mini octopus. Johnny was attentive, detailed, and honestly a craftsman when it came to the sushi. The fish and the rice was top notch, it tasted so fresh and all the flavors the chefs put together balanced so beautifully. Lastly, it was a totally booked night but somehow still felt calming and comfortable. The music and ambiance was wonderful. 5/5 stars. Definitely do not miss this one!

Service: 5/5Food: 4/5Atmosphere: 5/5Overall:Very inexpensive omakase experience. It is $65 for a 13-course meal. At the end of the meal, they give you the option of a few add-ons ranging from $15-$25 depending on the item you get. Food:For the price range, it was pretty much a steal considering all the other omakase charge a lot. The seafood was fresh and all prepared in front of you. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that the seafood didn't give me that Food Wars moment that I had at the previous omakase. Also with the add-ons, they were a little pricey for the size of the portion. They are little petite bite-sized items that can range to $25. The omakase part of the food could've also been portioned a little bigger.Atmosphere: The seating is a small counter with around 10 seats so you can become friends with the other customers. This is a reservation-based restaurant with 1 hour based time slots. So within one 1 hour, you should finish your experience so they can move on to the next reserved time slot.Service: The staff here are from all different ethnicities, I believe one said that he was Korean, and another was Chinese. Regardless, these chefs are very outgoing and know how to make your stay enjoyable. They are really friendly and love to be included in your pictures! Transportation:Don't expect to drive there as it is close to impossible to find a parking spot. Shiki is very close to a few train stations and Manhattan Chinatown. The best option is to walk or to take public transportation

We went to Shiki for my boyfriend's birthday on a Monday evening. We got the 17-piece omakase and a bottle of Ume Rose Sake. The sake was lovely and sweet. Overall, the service was good, but a bit rushed since we had an hour to go through all 17 pieces. We were constantly adjusting the wasabi level since it was definitely more than what each piece needed. Eventually, we just asked for no wasabi. All the pieces were good, but there wasn't really a standout piece for us besides the oyster at the beginning. At the end, the chefs surprised my boyfriend with a piece of birthday sushi, which was very sweet of them! Definitely make a reservation if you plan on trying Shiki since reservations are usually booked out at least a week or two in advance.
