Skirt Steak New York Reviews from The Last Year

They open at 5 pm and we were one of the few customers that were in line at around 4:45 pm. They have a pre-fix menu: skirt steak cooked to your liking + unlimited french fries and salad. Once you are seated the provide bread and butter, which I really enjoyed and I asked for another serving of bread. There were additional sides like truffle fries and you can upgrade your steak to waygu but we just opted for the pre-fix. I ordered medium and it came perfectly cooked. The steak was juicy and the chimichurri goes perfectly well with the steak. Be careful with the french fries since you would end up asking for additional 2-3 servings, is that good My only comment is on the next table, a single dinner upgraded his skirt steak to wagyu. They served the wagyu with the chimichurri. The diner asked to have an additional chimichurri and he was informed that it would cost additional $2! He asked for the manager to ask why would he be charged additional $2 for the chimichurri and he was informed that its the company policy! You know what's so bad? The diner upgraded his steak to wagyu and ordered wine. So they are getting more profit on the upgrade. Don't get me wrong, the diner can definitely pay for the $2, it's the principle! Hello, they are giving out unlimited french fries, they would even give you additional bread if you ask. But if you ask for additional chimichurri sauce - it's $2! Isn't ridiculous that they couldn't give the sauce for free. It's a 2 oz sauce = 0.25 cup. The chimichurri sauce contains olive oil, garlic, parsley, chli. I don't think a 2 oz sauce is worth $2. Come on Greens Skirt Steak, you could do better. Hope the management rethink their policy
The food was amazing.
I felt like I was a guest in their home. The servers (more than one took care of us) were attentive and made our evening experience so nice. We didn't even tell them we were celebrating a graduation. Our family will definitely be back when in NYC. Please open one in Charlotte, NC!!
It was okay but not great.
This restaurant has a nice appearance from a distance, but it probably could use a thorough cleaning, based upon closer inspection. The bathroom had a funky smell to it, which only added to that impression. The food was good but not great. Since we were there for brunch, the chef could learn how to prepare a pancake. It had the texture of a sponge that did not want to give away any of its parts. The service was good.
Steak was good, not amazing, but fries were very good!

Went here with my boyfriend for a late dinner (9:00 pm) we did have to wait a little since it was Friday night. I was a little upset we were seated at the community table even though there were plenty of other tables, but it's okay. We were there to eat and eat we did! We upgraded to the waygu steak option and it came with salad and unlimited fries. The salad was a little heavy on the vinaigrette for my liking but everything else was delicious. The lighting is dim, very romantic. As long as you aren't seated at the community table lol!
Good steak, terrible atmosphere
The steak was very good, as was the bacon macaroni and cheese and the asparagus but the truffle fries were inedible! A horrible after taste and very strong smell. We came for dinner at 6pm and it was very busy (as you’d expect) but it was also very chaotic - when we arrived there was a backlog of people waiting to be seated and then the music was unbearably loud. Overall I wouldn’t go back - you can definitely get steak elsewhere with a better atmosphere.
An experience - but you pay for it!
We had four nights in New York so planned some lovely meals before we left UK. This was at the top of the list as our son had eaten in the London STK. The restaurant is so nice. And we had a great little table for two but sadly our view was empty tables, a wall and an empty bar area. Would’ve been nice to have looked inwards at the restaurant. Our waiter was a really nice, very chatty guy. It wasn’t overly busy in there so he had the time to tell us his life history! He gave us a rundown of the menu including his “recommendations”. I think there’s definitely some forward planning here in the way he worded it as we followed his delicious sounding meal. He recommended a steak with some prawns and lobster. The way he described it (putting it all together and it makes it cheaper) proved to be a huge shock when the bill came. We paid for the steak - and the prawns - and the lobster. $100 dollars more than we had expected. Don’t get me wrong, it was great food. But no better than similar meals we’ve had elsewhere. You are definitely paying for what it is, where it is, and the overall ambience and style of the restaurant. It’s not a cheap place. We knew that and it didn’t matter. We were away on a lovely short holiday and we intended to make the most of it. But we did feel that we had fallen for good old sales patter and bought into his repertoire . We wouldn’t have ordered what we did. The bill even listed the price of the butters he melted over the top! Couldn’t fault his service though. He bought my dessert over with a sparkler (no birthday or celebration!). In summary this is a good restaurant if you want atmosphere. The DJ was playing good music, loud but not too loud. The decor is lovely. The food is reasonable but not 5* quality. And if I’m paying over $300 I expect 5*
Great service from Jonah

Cool, trendy place that keeps things simple yet delicious!
Cool, trendy place that keeps things simple yet delicious! Great service and awesome vibes. Would highly recommend.
A review I was pleasantly surprised to rate pretty high.
Despite of the mixed reviews of the restaurant I wanted to give it chance. I didn't want to come in with high hopes being a place that's offering $45 steak with unlimited fries. -BUT ! surprisingly it was a great dinner with friends. For starters the drinks were absolutely delicious and refreshing ! We had the blackberry spritz -super refreshing, key lime pie martini - wow so delicious!, spiced margarita and skirt manhattan. Obviously we order the steak with the fries and for sides we had the parmesan asparagus- wow amazing and the honey glazed carrots - made to perfection. Now let's talk about the steak -it was great just wish it was a lot hotter. Looks like they must do an abundance at a time and maybe when brought out to your table is not as hot anymore. Although that didn't meet its excellence it was still good seasoned steak and couldn't have been too picky for the price. Fries were addicting and yes they come around for more if you wish. Desserts were also great we had the carrot cake, a dessert with hazelnut (forgot the name) and the chocolate cake. Overall I have to say it was a great dinner. We all actually agreed we would recommend this place to try out. Host was extremely sweet and was very fast in getting tables ready. The service here was great we couldn't have complained.
For $45 you get a delicious and well-cooked skirt steak,
For $45 you get a delicious and well-cooked skirt steak, salad, and unlimited fries. While I know this used to be $28 in 2020, I think it's still worth it and a good meal! The steak was cooked perfectly - medium as I requested and was very juicy and tender. The sauce it came with was also really tasty. The fries are shoestring cut and are very light and crispy, but airy at the same time. The salad was also really good and refreshing! You also get complimentary bread and butter with the pre-fixe. We also got Iced Tea, which is not in the pictures, but you can get it sweet or unsweet. It was a wonderful iced tea. The service was very quick and everyone was friendly and attentive. Theres a bar area and lots of tables for big groups too. I tried another restaurant in Midtown called Legasea that does AYCE steak, fries, and salad for $45 and while Skirt Steak does not refill the steak or salad, I thought in terms of meat, this steak was much better and would prefer this one over the one at Legasea.
Skirt steak has a very simple menu, a prix fixe 3-course
Skirt steak has a very simple menu, a prix fixe 3-course meal for 45$, which includes a simple green salad, skirt steak (only available to be cooked rare, medium, or well) and unlimited fries. Shareable sides are also available for 12$ apiece and are ever-changing. You can also order garlic bread, which we did (yum), for an additional charge. The steak is tender and flavorful, served with Bearnaise sauce, although the steak was so good it didn't really need the sauce. The fries are also excellent, they were fresh and hot. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The only complaint was the other diners around us- they seemed put off/confused by the simple concept and were pretty rude to the waitress-not cool. All in all, we enjoyed our experience.
Came here right before the rush at about 5 PM so my table
Came here right before the rush at about 5 PM so my table of 4 was able to be seated almost right away. The place was very nice and spacious, so never felt like I was cramped. The services was great too. They did a great job explaining how everything worked and what they had on the menu. The food was pretty good. We got the garlic bread which was pretty good but nothing mind blowing. The salad which we got to start off was delicious. The dressing was very good and I enjoyed quite a lot. Later came the steak which we obviously were there for. The skirt stake was really good. Super tender and flavorful. I also loved the sauce it came with. The side of fries were decent. Again, nothing mind blowing but complimented the meal well. Overall it's a little pricey but I enjoyed the experience and came out happy with my meal. I would come again, but just for a more special occasion like family visiting.

You have to go to this restaurant!! You have a salad, bread, skirt steak (with the option of upgrading the steak) and unlimited fries for $45. My steak was an amazing flavor and the service was great. I'd highly recommend this place. There was a line out of the door!
Happiest Happy hour
Happy hour at STK is always great! The hostesses are amazing, so friendly. Our server Nicole made our evening. The food is great! What more do you need? Can’t wait to come back again.
This place is all over tiktok, so I'm curious to try.
My friends and I came here on Monday night and it had a quite long line in front of the restaurant. We got pretty quick to be seated, though. We ordered prefixed skirt steak (salad included) $45. Asparagus and garlic bread (not pictured) for the appetizer. The salad and garlic bread came first. Love the salad! It's so fresh and light. The garlic bread is okay for me, I didn't taste the garlic and it was kinda chewy. The asparagus and main star was taking tooooooooo long that we couldn't help ourselves anymore. Then the waiter came telling us they will took off the asparagus from the check and we'll get free dessert! Finally, the steak came and it was good. So tender and love the fries! It also came with mushroom sauce. After that, we chose our own dessert. I truly forget what I ordered, but it has something with meringue. I like it, it's so light and not too sweet. Overall, I'm really pleased with the service. They really took care of the customer. I wish I remembered the waitress/waiters that serves us!
Great midtown spot.
Adelynne the bartender is always on point and very hospitable. I feel like their desserts and sides have been lacking since when they first opened. Garlic bread use to be good and fresh but seems like it's been stale in our recent visits
Dinner for 3, no booze, $288 including tip.
Steak was rare, and perfectly cooked. Generous portions. Salad was better than expected, and the fries were outstanding. Sparking water, an Arnold Palmer, and a chocolate cake with three forks. No extra sides. NY is expensive. Get over it. Plan on $100/person and you'll be happy when the bill comes.
Great prix fixe spot in midtown.
Steak and greats were better than expected. Excellent spot for a boys trip!
Not worth the cost.
We were recommended to this steakhouse by our hotel concierge. The decor is amazing but the music way too loud. Oyster rockefeller was different - I expected more for $44. Calamari starter was good. My $100 Cowgirl steak, $13 truffel butter (the size of a dime) and the $19 fries totally not worth the price. Service was very good. Not worth the cost.
Was a birthday treat but ended up as a birthday nightmare
Although the food was nice / firstly we had a table that the top of it moved around like a record player which wasn’t ideal - we then waited an hour for 1 drink yes 1 hour !!!! Once moved we was then asked do we need more time to read the menu ?? Errhh no I know the menu off by heart / our 2nd waiter was great tbh but the experience and damage was already done ( we then got a bill for $250 + tip very expensive for what the night provided. In a nutshell the food was nice but the experience we had wasn’t great had better at a local food chain. Kind of out me off my food. Very disappointed
Great ambiance.
Had business lunch here. Good food. And really great expansive high ceiling dining. The ambiance is top notch and in my opinion, this place is a better option for drinks.
DO NOT COME HERE- NOT a good steakhouse
Came back here tonight for my five year anniversary and they ruined ANOTHER occasion. DO NOT come here. They are awful and probably the worst steakhouse I have been to. We were seated near the door which, had a firepit that made me (and the woman next to me) think our heads were on fire. I asked to move but they said no and turned off the fire. Also tough, because then it was pretty cold. I ordered the filet 10oz medium and boy did they get it wrong. It came out charred on the outside (and tasted like it) and was medium rare at best on the inside - HOW does that happen. By the time I received my steak, over 20 mins, the sides were lukewarm and my fiancé nearly finished his food. We did not even eat our anniversary dinner together SMH. I packed it up almost immediately because I lost my appetite. Lastly and notably the WORST customer service as far as management. Our waitress was great and felt bad but once we got the bill we noticed they charged us for the filet TWICE. The manager on duty told us that for the kitchen error they took the filet off. Apparently, it's only for the WRONG filet, but since they gave me a new one that I packed, they charged it. How does that rectify my SECOND horrible experience? Why even mentioned you took it off the bill? What were they going to do, charge me for a steak they cooked awfully!? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. DO NOT COME HERE. The only thing they have going is nice ambiance and tunes while you wait for your food to barely come. And for the record, management who commented that they would be in touch (on Yelps first review) to discuss never even reached out; they do not care. Last year 4/2023 I had a 9:30 reservation for my birthday and didnt get seated until 10:50pm and mediocre food at midnight. It is clear from their generic unapologetic attitude, they do not care.
Very pleasant.
It's worth visiting, I went with friends, we stayed in a private place, and it was great. Very good food, adequate service and great location.
Steak in a Nightclub…
Team steak night. 8 of us ate. The food was delicious and my filet was beautifully cooked. Service was typically “New York”. Was also like eating a good meal in a nightclub with the DJ thumping out some tunes, which meant having to shout to hold a conversation.

Pretty crazy, but cracking down will cost them a lot to maintain. They probably will lose the fight.

In my experience they will typically restore your reservation if you say it was an error.
