Snowpine Lodge Alta Reviews from The Last Year
Nice Experience, Friendly Staff!
We were nervous to stay after reading previous reviews, but shouldn't have been. The staff are extremely friendly and were helpful from the moment we arrived until the time we left. The room was nice, clean, and perfectly functional for the little time we spent in it. The bed was pretty comfortable too, especially after full days of skiing. The breakfast buffet has the basics to get you ready for a day of skiing. We had dinner at the Gulch each night of our stay, its pub food, nothing to write home about, and more or less what we expect from a ski area hotel. The nest kid's area was fun for the little ones and the ski lockers are a nice benefit . We would probably stay here again if we wanted to stay on Mountain at Alta.
No hot water, unprofessional owner/management for this price point
No hot water for 4+ days for entire facility. They did comp breakfast for two days and offered a removing a $50 resort fee, which is a slap in the face considering their nightly rates and the severity of the issue. Have visited Snowpine multiple times in winter and each time there have been major facility failures (no heat, no hot water, etc). Kept giving it a chance but we're done after this last visit. No real customer-service from upper management, they seemed detached, inexperienced, or just don't care. While most staff are solid, just below the surface, this "4-star luxury" lodge misses on many levels at this price point, it honestly felt like a 2-3-star property compared to properties in Deer Valley, Solitude, etc. Seems like they spent all the money on the main entry, dining and bar area - certainly not the rooms. Recent experience Room/Facility * No hot water for entire property for four+ days, then a mix of ice cold, lukewarm, hot - unpredictable. No hot showers/hand-washing for 4+days. Assume kitchen/bar did not have hot water either - if I could not wash my hands with hot water, how could the kitchen or bar staff do it? Salt Lake Health Department (@saltlakehealth) - this is a public health issue * Housekeeping adequate but inconsistent, replaced waters some days and sometimes only one bottle, some days no bottles. Did not replace some bathroom products for entire stay. *Towels are cheap, scratchy type towels * Noisy heating system in room * Noisy facility systems behind walls in room * Safe in room not bolted down, someone could easily walk off with it * Chromecast did not work in room * Pool never opened for entire stay * No service elevator for staff * Other things just felt overly worn for a 4-year-old property. Bartenders * Touching their face and/or hair, then using the same bare hand to place ice cubes into glass, squeeze lemon/lime into drink and/or cut fruit slices to place on drink * Mis-poured a drink, then handed to a server and told them they could drink it and they took into side bar closet * Coached guests how to take their drinks to their room, which bartender previously told them was illegal in state of Utah * Poured a double-shot of liquor for a staff member, who then drank them right there; bartender previously denied guest a double-shot stating it was illegal in state of Utah * Think Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (@UtahABS) would have some thoughts on this Staff * 90% of the staff were great, friendly, hard-working, customer-service oriented people with a professional attitude (front desk, dining room, chef). The porters who drove shuttle van + assisted with luggage were outstanding and awesome pros. * No one at top level understands customer service * Owner has zero hotel or customer service experience and it shows, clearly didn't get the proper hot water or heating system * Constant turnover - there's been a new GM, Chef and Dining Room manager each season that makes one wonder why they can't retain key staff members * Concern for the J1 staff - all they seem to do was clear tables and refill water glasses, appears they are getting a raw deal Food * Breakfast was decent, overpriced - only option was $25 per-person buffet * Dinners were good Compensation offered * Front desk offered to remove the $50 resort fee per night from our stay, a savings of $250. Two free breakfasts, savings of $100. Total savings $350. * A 5-night stay costs between $1,500 - $19,9950+, plus food/beverage/spa services/taxes. Rooms start at $300 (shared dorm w/ 4 bunk beds) and go up to $3,999 (penthouse suite for 4 people) per night at this property. The $50/day Resort Fee provides our guests with: (per Snowpine website) * Internet access * The Nest and the Little Nest (no idea what/were this is) * Après ski cookies and hot Chocolate (did have cookies, but were hard as a rock) * Outdoor pool and hot tub (pool was never open, hot tubs were taken over by a few families) * Ski lockers (locks frequently did not work) * In-room water bottles (did not receive water each day of stay, had to keep asking) * Laundry Facilities When we got back, looked through other reviews and saw repeats of what we experienced plus others... * No hot water in rooms (01/24/2024) - TripAdvisor review * Mold in room (12/28/2023) - TripAdvisor review * Rotting wood in room, no bottled water provided, tap water milky (10/2023) - TripAdvisor review * No heat in rooms (10/2023) - TripAdvisor review * AC issue (8/1/23) - TripAdvisor review * Mice in room - Employee review on Glass Door This place does not represent the sprit of Alta in any way, shape or form other than the location. This place should get sold to someone who knows how to run a place like this.
Amazing stay!
Our stay was incredible. I traveled to the Snowpine to ski with my two boys (ages 10 and 7). Aside from the stunning location and perfect Alta ski in ski out access, the amenities of hotel were perfect. It is spacious enough with a wonderful game room with ball pit, a lounge/fireplace on most floors, pool/hot tub, spa, and fantastic pub and restaurant without feeling ‘too’ big. We felt very relaxed and comfortable there. At one point, my 7 year old and I were on the elevator making our way to the pool, and the doors opened and we saw his brother sitting on chair reading on a different floor by the fire. Everything was well thought out with helpful touches such as the movable tree stumps in game room so littler kids could play the (free) games. I am not sure if it’s ski culture and/or the thoughtfulness of hotel design, but was nice to see so many kids around playing without having faces in screens. The staff is also wonderful. It was clear folks liked being there and went above and beyond to make the stay more enjoyable. I bumped into one of the bartenders who took time to tell me about the live music going on at the Pub (I went and was fantastic). The French woman at counter checking us out offered suggestions on where my family might want to go on our summer vacation to France. The valet came to the ski lockers to check on us to see if we needed help. Again and again, was overly impressed with the staff. The room was clean and spacious with frequent servicing and restocking of complementary waters. Funny enough, I almost cancelled the snowpine after reading some of the less than positive reviews. What a mistake that would have been.
$1300/night for no hot water, understaffed hotel
We spent three nights at the Snow Pine in January. Thankfully the snow was great, but the hotel was absolutely horrific. First - no hot water. For three days. Where it gets worse, is that there was zero communication from the hotel about this. No apologies, no note under the door... nothing. The basic level of communication that you'd get at a holiday inn when there's some work being done... nothing. When I asked the front desk I was told, "sorry, but there's nothing we can do. We outsource that, so it's not our fault." "It's not our fault..." Again - $1,300/night. Breakfast - two out of three days there was no coffee when we arrived around 8am. The two staff that covered the breakfast were overwhelmed, but friendly. Coffee eventually came. Again - $1,300/night. They push their recreation room, which was great. Half of the arcade games were broken though the entire stay. The staff didn't seem to be aware. Again - $1,300/night. One of our last day they wouldn't extend our room, but there are bathrooms where you can shower after skiing. Sticking with the college theme, both of the two bathrooms were trashed, neither had towels larger than hand sized, and both had broken doors. The shower was clogged so it was flooding the bathroom. It's hard to explain how gross this was... think college and why you wore flip flops in the shower. Again - $1,300/night. We showered with a boot bag in front of the door with throwbacks to hanging a sock on your door handle. Again - $1,300/night. The room - tiny. For some reason the bed was crammed in the corner like a college dorm. No closest, and a design inspired barn door to the bathroom which is great if you like hearing your partners bathroom noises. Avoid this place like the understaffed plague that it is.
Exceptional Service
Within 14 hours of arriving at Snowpine Lodge with the intention to ski for 3 days, I broke my ankle. Instead of going home we decided to stay. While it wasn’t the ski vacation I planned, I still ended up having a vacation. The staff went above and beyond to make sure my needs were addressed. They were helpful as I learned how to use crutches. I used as many amenities as I could with a broken ankle, which turned out to be many. The lodge was beautiful and the views were incredible. My friend had a great time skiing and enjoyed all of the skiing amenities. I will return to Snowpine once I am healed.
No hot water! No room service!
No hot water!! Who wants to be skiing all day, come back to your room and take a hot shower? Well that won’t be happening here! The issue has been brought to multiple peoples attention with no return call or resolution. I asked to be connected with the hotel manager and was told he/she was onsite but busy. I asked for a return call but never received one. A luxury hotel without room service? You can find that here as well as fruit flies in the glasses at the gulch bar; our bourbon neat came with some extra flavor! They do offer restaurant take out but when we called the restaurant was too busy to do a take out order until after 8 pm. When I did place an order they said they would call when it was ready for pickup; no one ever called. I guess the front desk ate the food?? I would absolutely not recommend this place for anyone who has experienced a true luxury property or one with hot water!! We had enough after four nights and departed as soon as they finally told us the hot water would be fixed on Wednesday; the day we were supposed to check out. When I told the front desk agent we would be leaving since he now confirmed the issue would not be fixed for another five days he said, “sounds good”. Absolutely zero level of customer service!! A week without hot water- NO THANKS! The hotel offered no other available solutions ie a hot shower in the spa (if they had hot water) or a different room if only part of the building was impacted by the issue. WE WILL NEVER RETURN HERE!!!
DINNER WITH FRIENDS
My party of six sat for the worst dinner of 2022. From start-to-finish, each dish disappointed. Bland $19 dollar salads; octopus cooked in a deep fryer; Tasteless, dry Weiner Schnitzel that was over-processed and deep fried with some morsels of Spätzle and red cabbage. Nice place to lodge---but bring your own food or eat out!
Amazing experience!
This hotel is absolutely exceptional. Great staff, amazing food at both restaurants and beautiful rooms. Very conveniently located to ski areas. We were there on a bussiness trip and didn’t have time to go ski, but it sure would have been a great location for that. Would highly recommend!
Mold, mold, and more mold
My daughter and I checked in to the lodge on 12/28 and my wife arrived on 12/29. When I went into the room I could smell bleach, but, I assumed that was due to people bringing their wet ski gear...but, when my wife arrived she could smell mold. I was looking for the source behind the bed and I dropped my glasses behind the nightstand; when I pulled the nightstand away from the wall a piece of baseboard fell off and behind it was black mold. Once I was able to pull the bed away from the wall more baseboard fell and we found more mold. Upon further inspection of the room I noticed several pieces of baseboard that were loose, I pulled them away from the wall with my hands. Below is what we found:

I canceled a reservation ahead of Thanksgiving weekend well
I canceled a reservation ahead of Thanksgiving weekend well in accordance with the Snowpine Lodge's cancellation policy. However, the hotel elected to bill me anyways. I have been unable to reach the manager of the hotel, and will be opening a dispute with my credit card company as well as contacting the Utah attorney general regarding this property's business practices. The hotel has refused to stand by their own refund policy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This place is stunning down to every detail. Incredibly accommodating and helpful staff. The front desk agent and management made us feel like VIPs. The spa and game room are both awesome. I would definitely recommend. 💫
Every Opportunity to be 5 Star... Needs work~
Local residence of Park City and came for a staycation with our 2 kids. To start with the good, the hotel is stunning in the common areas. You feel warm and cozy from the moment you walk in. The hotel has a wonderful pool and hot tub that the whole family can enjoy with a perfect view. Not to mention the "NEST" is amazing for kids. The NEST is unique in offering Skee-Ball, foosball, ball pit, and our kids loved it! So why the 3 star? The hotel food is really rough. We had dinner and the breakfast buffet, and both were not ideal. We ordered wings, cauliflower, kids burger, and chicken tenders. The wings came out cold, cauliflower was missing sauce, and the best item was the chicken tenders. The room is nice, but the baseboards were falling off, the bathroom had rotting wood from water damage. The filtered water in the fridge was not set up and there is NO water at the hotel except the $4.00 bottled water at the front desk. We tried to use the tap water in the bathroom, but it comes out milky white! EEEKK... We also tried to go to the spa as a hotel guest for a service or day pass. The spa was full and we could not visit during our stay. I would highly suggest this hotel focus on Maintenace and attention to detail if they want to charge for a 4-5 star experience, they have to step up.
I had a 3 star experience, but it is a nice place and my
I had a 3 star experience, but it is a nice place and my experience was just circumstances. Check in was friendly and I had a nice room with a view of the pool. There are limited restaurants open depending on the day and no room service. There are also hiking trails right outside the resort (bring bug pray as I forgot and the hotel didn't have any). On the second day I was there, the power was out all day. They didn't have any control over the power, but do they not have generators? This meant no wifi, hot water, elevators, etc. Then on my third night, there were people loudly in the pool until at least 3am. I repeatedly called the front desk, but there was no answer. Was that one of the people in the pool? I was pretty frustrated by my stay, but Ginnymarie was great when I checked out and helped make it right. The spa was nice. I got a day pass and you can use the grotto (hot tub) by reservation and the sauna and steam room. They also have a relaxation room and brought me a warm neck towel.
OK, the view is great, and the room we stayed in was nice.
(But let me add that my daughter, staying in a lower-priced room came to shower in ours every day because the shower in hers was "too janky". Didn't go see it, myself.) The food was decent, but considering the prices, not up to standard. The real big problem is NO HOT WATER! OK, let me clarify. At 5AM, plenty of scalding hot water. At 9:30 AM, it was, lets say, adequately warm. But at 4PM, showering meant standing under a stream of ice water. When we complained on the 1st day, we were told "a team was coming to fix the problem". Apparently, that's their stock answer, as nothing was done, and a check of past reviews shows it's been that way for years. Also, as also noted by others, no screens. Leaving the balcony door open for any length of time results in multiple flies, or worse, wasps, flitting around your room. So bottom line, if you must book an event there, do your guests a favor and at least have every one stay somewhere else.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!
