A Fave
One of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. The aji sauce they have is to die for. Highly recommend!

Love the rustic decor and color scheme. Looks like all those photos you see about Cuba. The only thing missing was an old 1947 Ford. As you enter, take a menu from the table to your left by the door. Then place your order at the cashier. They give you a number on a stand and will bring your food to you at your table. Tostones con Queso- unsweetened...pounded deep fried plantains, topped with melted cheese and drizzled with fresh garlic in olive oil. Think cheesy garlic bread. Way GOOD!! Pollo Rostizado Combo -The rice is seasoned...salt and maybe chicken stock, but surprisingly good. Sweet plantains are soft and really pair well with the chicken. The roasted half chicken is juicy with a crispy skin. Really mild flavor... thumbs up. The salad is bland... please do not make the rookie mistake that I made... there was dressing in bottles on the table. 2 gender neutral bathrooms. Clean and well stocked..love the soap...smells like a pina colada.
Be the first to ReplyBeware Mediocre flavorless fare at this overpriced resturaunt
REALLY? Lots of MSG in every dish which leads to a stomache and head throbbing. $20.00 Bistec sandwich is tough and flavorless; staff worried about getting in trouble with boss and are sometimes even very very rude.
Be the first to ReplyNot Puerto Rican beans
No tomato sauce, no ham, no pumpkin or potatoes, no sofrito and no flavor! Like if they opened the can and put it straight on my plate, gross! Definetely not Puerto Rican style.

A friend told me about this place. I knew I had to go out of my way to taste Puerto Rican food. I drove 30 minutes to this place and I was not disappointed.
I must say it is hard to find a parking space. Once you get the food you will remember it was totally worth it.
I was thinking i was going to have to wait for a while but ordering and getting the food was about 15 minutes. The menu has many excellent choices that it is hard to decide.
A big tip, ordered ahead of time and drive with another person so you donโt have to spend time trying to get a parking space.
Please do not take my word but find it for yourself. Remember to listen to some salsa music when eating this food.
The best Puerto Rican restaurant
The best Puerto Rican restaurant in the Bay Area! Iโve been coming for for over 5 years and itโs always a treat. The food is consistently delicious. I usually order a full plate of chuletas and they always come out delicious, never dry or bland. The pique is better than what you find in restaurants in Puerto Rico so buy a bottle or two for yourself. Top off your meal with the ponche, Iโm not sure exactly whatโs in it but I think itโs mango, lime, orange or some combination of them. If you donโt like waiting in lines go during off peak hours.

Good healthy food
This is a very popular restaurant in town. I like there chicken dish and shrimp dish. But over the years the prices have gone high.

The food was really mediocre. It was cold within 5 minutes, had no flavor. The staff were rude and helpful, would not heat anything up. Forgot our drinks and then tried to double charge me.
Y'all can have this place.... McDonalds is right down the street.
Very tasty.
This is a very popular place and wait times are often long. But,if you are fortunate enough to live nearby then you can get delivery! Chicken corn soup is amazing. Lots of options. Roasted chicken and BBQ ribs are both tasty. Sweet plantains are unique and wonderful.
Be the first to ReplyAlways excellant
Always a line, fun atmospere, great staff and unique and excellant food. Will repeat and repeat again. Going there 15 years or more.
Be the first to Replygood food, noisy ambiance.
Great food, fun ambiance! A very popular late night spot in SR, one of the few. I have been going here for years and I think the food has really been great. My only criticism is that they added cilantro to their pink beans a few years ago so now both the black and the pink beans have cilantro in them. No cilantro free beans option.

Sol Food is an OK little eatery, but the pride of San Rafael? Argh, it says a lot about our town that Sol Food is the most pop-popular, while excellent ethnic restaurants disappear as quickly as San Rafael policemen when anything but traffic incidents present themselves. Think Mexican but without any spice. Rice bland. Platanos soggy. Yes Nico, Marin is indeed a culinary wasteland. Hip, though.
