This restaurant are essentially thieves.
You've read right. Read on!To make reservations, the restaurant's website directed me to OpenTable.com.mx. The website informed me that the restaurant required to provide a credit card in case I didn't cancel the reservations and didn't show up. The no-show fee was MX$ 1,000 per person. We got to the restaurant, told them we had reservations, had a meal with a bottle of wine, and I paid the bill with my credit card (around US$ 180). A couple of days later, the restaurant charged my card MX$ 4,000 (4 people) (US$ 212.34) No-Show Fee.E-mailing 3 times resulted in no replies. Calling (international call for me) and talking to 2 different English-speaking people resulted in empty promises. So, the bottom line: the restaurant charged me $180 for a meal and $212 for a no-show on the same evening. When planning the trip, many travel guides warned of petty and more serious crimes against tourists. I encountered none. It's such a great shame that I was essentially robbed by a high-end restaurant.

In a quiet neighborhood in CDMX, Sud777 is a beautiful restaurant run by an ex-Noma alum, Chef Edgar Nรบรฑez. It is a magnificent 2 floor restaurant: Sud777 on top, Hokusai on the first floor. Here are words from the website :"Located in the heart of Pedregal, Sud 777 is a restaurant that honors the tradition of a neighborhood designed by prominent urban planners and architects. Since its opening in 2008, it has been part of the culinary offerings of southern Mexico City due to the gastronomic proposal of chef Edgar Nรบรฑez who has positioned himself worldwide for his prodigious technique and his Mexican vegetable cuisine....."How was my meal here? Very good. There were 2 dishes that didn't work for me: the green peach and mint (a bit green for the peach) and the cabbage, cuitlacoche and truffle (the vinegar soup was powerful). Otherwise I loved everything else. Chef Nuรฑez came by to serve the oyster and beetroot plate: orange and Mexican cheese essence. It's a cool feeling to visit a restaurant and the chef comes by to plate a dish. Service was very good and the plates yummy. I loved that the vegetables and ingredients used were grown locally or organic-- I could taste the difference. I tried the juices pairing this meal and was unimpressed. I will go for the wine pairing next time. Tip: If you are queasy about trying new ingredients in unfamiliar combinations, the tasting menu that I sampled is daring and different. Mexican flavors are wildly delicious and it may just be that my palate is not accustomed, yet. I loved my experience here though and will come back. End of Yelp.

From street food to Michelin star restaurants, when you know, you know. If you can only afford one nice meal out, make this your stop! Ambience: this place is decorated so beautifully that I took pictures for my remodel. Service: I slipped one of the waiters extra cash on my way out because it was that damn good. I hope they are tipping the dishwashers in the back because damn they changed out our plates and silverware often. Reservations: when we called, they asked if I had any allergies. I do, and they repeated them when I was ordering. A+++Food: First I want to apologize to all those who watched "My Teacher the Octopus" and now avoid eating those magnificent creatures because this was the best I've had! I don't usually like them because of the chew but it was soft and (where is that drool emoji?) Dress: we were fairly casual because it was spontaneous, but business casual was the attire.Everything we ate was plated beautifully and scrumptious. Cost:$150 US total (with a bottle of wine)Best meal of our trip!

A great tasting menu experience, every dish was just amazing. I got pretty full towards the main dish, our choice was tuna fish and steak. I was only able to eat 1/2 of the steak.Of course the dessert was drooling good. Highly recommended but def make early reservations

Wow! We had a outstanding anniversary dinner ! This is a must try , when in CDMX. Everything was perfect. Customer service is top notch. One plate after another just kept elevating our dining experience. Truly a magical place . Beautiful restaurant! Can't wait to come back

Sud 777 is the best restaurant in Mexico City, and we have eaten at all the great ones, including the lauded Pujols. Sud 777 is located in a modern building is that's an architectural marvel, enhancing the dining experience with a zen like aesthetic. The bar, handled by the iconic Rogelio and the effervescent Raul, started our evening at Sud 777 with warmth and a whole lot of fun. The space is so beautiful I expected stuffy, but Rogelio and Raul made us feel so welcomed. Led across a bridge to our table, I was hushed by the beautiful surroundings. Sud 777 could get away with just good food, but the kitchen at Sud 777 is superb, multiple Michelin star worthy. My Turkey molรฉ was unbelievable. Grilled octopus was incredible. The fideo lip smacking delicious. Desserts, wines, and liquors were all top notch. Service rivaled anything in Paris. Sud 777 is one of the best restaurants in the world.
Be the first to Replysecond time for tasting, just as awesome as the last time.
Don't love uni, but ate it there. I strongly recommend Sud 77, great food, great service, great place

Outstanding! Great service and food! Loved getting the chefs tasting menu and graying other dishes on the menu! Highly recommend the octopus and the pork!
Be the first to ReplyAwesome food, awesome service, awesome food.
The oyster in artichoke sauce and bone marrow was over the top yummy. Highly recommend the tasting menu.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely disappointing.
To keep it brief, it seems like the head chef copied elements from noma and el bulli but didn't understand the point. Almost every dish on the tasting menu was simultaneously overdone and underwhelming. Service was brusque and no part of the experience stood out other than the great ambience.

This location has a magical aesthetic with second-story walkways and a semi-outdoor setup. Fountains, vegetation, and romantic lighting are coupled with a contemporary design and excellent service. The restaurant was willing to adjust our reservation at the last moment to accommodate more people and gave us extremely attentive service.Prices were pretty reasonable. I ordered 2 mezcal+hibiscus drinks that were exactly the taste of mexico city I was hoping for. The presentation of the food was gorgeous. My only complaint is that my short ribs were a little fatty and could have been cooked down a bit longer. The roasted tomato salad had the most delicious buttery vinaigrette that I have ever had, though! Definitely worth the experience and I would definitely go back and try something else.
Be the first to ReplyBest dinner I've ever had.
Food was amazing. Beef Wellington was the perfect way to end the meal. The octopus starter was great. The fish dish was actually the best fish I've ever had. The beef Wellington wow melts in your mouth. Edgar great work. To the folks above who leave a bad review, you must be the type of people who complain there water is to cold. Actually, who are you people. This meal blew me out of the water 11/10 and I am a harsh critic.
Be the first to ReplyBeware if you make a reservation here.
I made a reservation online via OpenTable which required that I enter my credit card information. The day of my reservation I started to experience Covid symptoms. I could not cancel my reservation online due to it being less than 24 hours. I called the restaurant to cancel but they didn't answer. A few days later I get a $150 charge on my credit card for missing the reservation. I called the restaurant and explained what happened. The girl I spoke with said she couldn't do anything about it and told me to email them. I told her I could prove I called but she didn't care. It's been 4 days and they never emailed me back. I have since disputed the charge with CC company.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a big disappointment.
... We came in because of the world's best restaurant list hype, but this place is nothing comparable to any other place on the list we have been.Communication: we kind of assumed that at least someone at the restaurant can be fluent in English given the international acclaim it has received. Turns out there was none; communication with the servers is a big issue if you can't speak much Spanish.Service: the service was a mess for a restaurant at this level (not sure if it is because of COVID). For example, one server came and put a spoon for the next dish, while 1 min later another server came and removed the spoon. And shortly someone else came and put the spoon down again. As another example, a server removed our bread basket with more than half left; 5 min later another server came with a new basket full of bread. I even had my fork and knife removed by a server before I even finished my entree (he didn't even ask). All of these just make us feel very uncomfortable.Food: given all the hype and the extremely high price tag (def one of the most expensive in CDMX), we had really high expectation going in. Overall the food was mediocre and can only be called a nice dinner. Some of the dishes were not done right- the bread was cold and bland. The smoked kampachi tasted very bitter. The sea bass was bland and dry. I am not sure if the flavors just didn't fit our preference, but I have been to Quitonil (another Mexican fine dining restaurant in CDMX) and really liked every dish there. Conclusion: do not recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely do not go here.
We tried calling many times the day before and day of our reservation to cancel and the restaurant did not answer and now I have a $240 cancellation charge on my card. When I finally got their information through whats app they refused to refund me and said that I should have tried instagram, facebook and whats app in addition to calling. What a joke - how could this possibly be on any best restaurant list when you dont answer your own phone. Never in my life have I had a similar experience. God forbid you go and get covid and they charge you since you cant reach them! Disgusting
Be the first to ReplyWell worth the long ride fromPolanco.
Cool atmosphere and very beautiful dishes. The suckling pig is incredible. Great cocktails and very sophisticated cuisine that respects and celebrates Mexico. Bravo!

I honestly think you could just do appetizer because they're so good. Drinks were great. We got burrata, octopus and fideo seco. Entrees were good too but not up to par with appetizers. Service was top notch and restaurant is amazing.
Be the first to ReplyWe did the a la carte menu which was pretty extensive.
We need to come back for the tasting and add more items from the a la carte. The food was really good and this place is gorgeous. My favorites were the scallops and the beets followed by the pil pil fish.

As one of the Top 50 restaurants in Latin America, we felt that the food at Sud 777 was not impressive. We came to celebrate Valentine's Day, but unfortunately left with food poisoning from the mole. Food poisoning is always a risk, especially with traveling to other countries, but we would not have expected to get it from one of the top restaurants in Latin America. Perhaps a food truck, but not here. The restaurant itself is located in Pedregal, which is apparently where some of the richest in CDMX live. I can totally see it, the car ride to the restaurant itself is a trip. Mansions and huge gardens with gated properties left and right.Mojito: Made perfectly, with very fresh ingredients and different fruits. Ceviche: Refreshingly cold. Very fresh fish. We practically drank the lime/coconut sauce based. Paired nicely with the crunchy chips. Pulpo: Loved the burnt taste on the outside, juicy on the inside. Paired nicely with the squash puree.Short rib topped with mole: Mole is very Mexican, so we figured we should try what's signature. Bad idea. We got food poisoning from it. Duck: Decent, nothing special. By Mexican standards, this restaurant is extremely pricey. Like $$$$$. The amount we spent could probably supply us with a year or two's worth of street tacos. However, as an American tourist, it's priced similar to a nice night out at a sit-down restaurant. Decor: Very lush, rustic and elegant at once, with touches of old Mexico. Probably the most beautiful restaurant I've been to. Lit well enough for you to see the menu. your date, and the dish, but dark enough for a nice ambiance. Service: Attentive, finely tuned English for travelers (this is a plus considering how difficult I recognize English to be for non-native speakers), prompt.

The most beautiful restaurant! Have so many different rooms and bridges, it was all gorgeous. Our server was so nice and adorable, we had a hard time turning on the heat lamp and he spent a good 20 minutes fixing it and making it perfect for us. The food was all very good, our group of 5 did 7 apps, 1 soup each and one main to share and it was plenty of food. The drinks were also very fresh and tasty.
