Great getaway
Our family had an amazing time staying at the Surf club in montauk. Our unit was perfectly situated. It felt private yet was a quick walk to the pool and the private beach. The unit itself was very clean and had amazing natural light. We always loved that we could walk right into town, coffee shops and the new skatepark for my son. We will definitely be coming back again!
Be the first to ReplyLove the Place but Units in Terrible Condition
Peeling paint; dirty chairs; a dead wasp on the outdoor table upon arrival; lack of a railing a safety issue for families; no chest of drawers to put clothes in; faucet broken upon arrival (impossible that house keeping did not see this); screen taken out of deck to be fixed and not returned prior to our arrival..to name a few problems with a 500-600 square foot unit pricing at over $1000 a night (unit 78, so if seeking beach front unit avoid this one!!). Still it is about 20 feet from the beach so location balances this out. You have to really love it here to tolerate the quality. There is a table with four chairs but no room to sit in the chairs on either side as they are jammed between counter and sofa.

I stayed at the surf club with my husband and 3 friends in mid June. We stayed in a 3-bed room (room 15) which was perfect for us. Everything about our stay was lovely! The staff was friendly and responsive, the room was gorgeous and clean, there was more than enough parking to accommodate us, and the location was beyond perfect. Staying right on the beach and then being able to walk pretty much everywhere was great. Maybe it was because it was early in the season, but the pool was not over-crowded at all as some of the other reviews have said. I would definitely stay here again!!
Be the first to ReplyHigh price for shabby accommodations
We went out midweek for a two night stay, and it appeared that we may have been the only guests. The unit we were assigned - “lucky?” 13 - was at the far west end of the complex bordering a beach access road and overlooking an outdoor storage area. This area, viewable out of our side window, contained an assortment of items, including wood scraps, lounge chairs, tables, and a wheelbarrow full of water. Fortunately, the view of the ocean out the back was much nicer! The inside, while clean, was desperately in need of updating and maintenance. For example, the carpeting alongside the bed was ripped, the paint on the bathroom vanity was chipped, the bathroom window screen was full of dead bugs, the vertical blinds (some of which were different sizes and turned the wrong way) should have been left back in the 1970’s, and the bathroom heater was covered with rust. While we were there we noticed that several units near ours appeared to be under renovation and were disappointed that for the price we paid (just over $500 a night in the off season) they couldn’t put us in a unit that already been updated. We have stayed here in the past for both the location close to town and the view. Unfortunately, this experience - especially considering the price - was a huge disappointment and on our next visit, it’s safe to say we’ll be trying someplace new.

This place is awful. Our unit was delapidated. Cracks in the walls, stains and putting in the tables, etc. it was the worst place I have seen in years, and it was also expensive. They are taking advantage of people. I have never written a review like this but then this was my worst hospitality experience in years (other than on United Airlines!)
Be the first to ReplyExcellent place to stay
We went to Montauk this past weekend and had a great experience at the Surf Club. Our unit was newly renovated and it was a one bedroom oceanview unit. We absolutely loved looking at the water each morning and listening to it at night. We even saw a whale jumping out of the water from our bedroom on the second floor. The staff was very accommodating and we really appreciated the fact that they placed our chairs and umbrellas out on the beach for us in the morning. No more lugging all of our belongings onto the beach by ourselves. Highly recommend this place!!

If you want to pay penthouse prices for crackhouse accommodations, the Surf Club in Montauk is the place to go! My family and I arrived to our assigned condo late Friday night (9/10) and were appalled with the condition of it. there was no railing on the stairs, mold everywhere, the walls were peeling, the outlet looked like a fire waiting to happen. It was clearly not what we reserved. I go to the front desk to complain, and the woman in front would do absolutely nothing for us, saying all the rooms were booked (a lie, since there were rooms available online), she said she would send the maintenance guy to see what can be done. This was ridiculous since he would be able to do nothing. Side note, their staff shows up to our condo, unlocks the door and walked in with no announcement or any masks on, despite the website saying how serious they take their COVID protocols. I said we can’t stay there since my daughter and wife were already having breathing issues, and the woman said she sees no child listed in the reservation, which I then show her on the confirmation email on my phone. She gets flustered and blurts out “WELL IT ISNT HERE”. I demand to speak to the manager and get him on the phone, but she would only text him (a clear sign they screwed up and didn’t have the sack to say that to me). Another couple comes in and as I am talking to the desk lady, she blows me off like I’m some ham-and-egger, which really aggravated me and my wife who I have on speakerphone to voice her opinion. I asked the couple how much do they enjoyed the mold scent in their place, and said the entire place infested with it. Finally the woman says they will refund the money and cancel the reservation. As soon as that happened, we packed the car and I drove back to NYC, with the weekend plans ruined thanks to these con men. Then the office “happened” to close when before we left I wanted something in writing about the refund. To be fair they did refund the money, which is the only honorable thing they did in this matter. All they had to do to keep my money was: -move us to another room even if it cost extra for the bigger spots -try to move us into another hotel they own (their parent company has a few in the area) This is probably one of those places that prey on dummies from the city. I bet since the email we used has my wife’s maiden name in it (a Spanish last name), they chose to treat us differently than if I used my name, which wouldn’t shock me. Avoid them at all costs.
Be the first to ReplyUnit in Poor Condition-Natural Beauty Offsets Music Issues from Bounce Bar A Block Away
Wonderful facility. Location a block from Bounce Bar (the old sloppy tuna) means theres loud beach music all afternoon and early evening. So if you want a quiet beach experience this place isn't for you. The resort could work with the East Hampton authorities to reduce the decibile quotient but this hasn't happened. This was our third visit here. Unit size varies. Our unit no-53- had a tiny bedroom with sloping formica tables sticking out as nighstands and a full size metal college dorm type bed. The paint next to dining room table was peeling. Other than that kitchen and bathroom were satisfactory. View from upstairs of ocean lovely. Location near town and also so close to the wonderful Shadmor state park can't be beat..its just the noise.... Lovely location, decent gym. Housekeeping uneven -not clear if offered during visit.
Be the first to ReplyNice but needs attention to cleaning details
Overall, we had a nice stay here. The beds were very comfortable. The pool was heated and clean. Right on the beach. Walking distance to town. The main issue was the service and cleanliness. One person at the desk was very rude - and I heard others complaining about the rudeness as well. Some were very nice too - so it was just a few people. The room had mold on the ceiling. I asked for someone to come down and just wipe some bleach on it. They sent someone who said they would need to paint it and could not do anything - so we just went out and bought some cheap stuff and cleaned it ourself and it cleaned up. One pillow had a stain on it and the vent in the bathroom was so clogged with dust it barely move the air. We also did not get any room service- but when I asked the cleaners to check the room they were very friendly and did it.
