We have been anticipating this dining experience since we made our reservations several weeks ago and it didn't disappoint! It's almost like a little speakeasy just to find the place. It's located behind a bento box café. There is really on signage and you just have to know where to enter. If you didn't know already, reservations are a must. But don't be dismayed if you have to wait several weeks as we did; it will be worth the wait.Arrive on time is what they say, however, many in the group we ate with arrived quite late for the seating time. They served us a "special drink" which we never found out what exactly it was. It's not something I would ever intentionally order and I'm guessing it was something possibly to prepare your palate? Before you enter the dining room, you are given a brief introduction as to how the evening is expected to go. When you enter, it's a sushi bar for ten and each seat has the name of the guest dining that evening. It's quite intimate. It's not too dark inside and the music playing was just at the right level. One of the chef's starts off by introducing the team; three chef's and a server to handle drink orders. Once the drinks have been delivered and you freshen up with the hot towel, the gastronomic event commences. The sushi you will be eating is displayed on the wall behind the chef's in the order you will receive it. Every receives the same piece of sushi at the same time and then the chef will explain everything from the region the seafood came from to all the different toppings they added anything from shaved truffles to caviar. The first piece of sushi they literally place in your hand and the rest is set upon a small place for you to pick up by hand. Each piece is just the right size to eat in one bite (the way it is intended to be eaten). It's an understatement to say this was some of the freshest sushi I have ever experienced but they were more like pieces of art in both the presentation and little extra flavorings that were added to each piece. Some pieces of sushi were so incredibly fresh and delicious, they literally just melt away in your mouth. This dining experience is like an orchestra it runs so perfectly. They chef's are constantly preparing each different serving of sushi. Although there are three of them and we had a full table, everyone seemed to get their sushi at the exact same moment like it was synchronized. We never felt rushed to prepare for the next serving. There was plenty of time to savor what you had just eaten and then have a little ginger or cucumber to cleanse your palate for the next serving. I never felt rushed, nor did I feel like I was waiting on the next course. The timing was exquisite! And the chef's are great people who are quite conversationalists. A truly enjoyable evening.I have only had omakase when in Japan but this was one of my top five dining experiences of my life! It is a bit of a wait to get a reservation, but once you have been here, you will realize that wait was well worth it. The food, the ambiance and the service, were all some of the best I have ever experienced and there is no question we will be back. Regarding the price... it's on par for what you would expect for a dining experience such as this. You might find omakase "cheaper" but not at this quality. And for those who complained about the size of the portions, this is a fine dining experience and when you are sampling sixteen different servings, these are the correct size. Anything larger and you would become too full and miss out on the experience. We cannot wait to reserve our next dinner here!
