Authentic
Absolutely authentic. Beautifully presented top quality ingredients without much brouhaha but clean authentic taste. Wonderful friendly Japanese service. Expensive but worth every bit

My son finally came to visit from Canada since pandemic. We are all big sushi fan and so glad to pick this place to enjoy a wonderful and memorable lunch. We had a good surprise with the sake we ordered, it’s very fragrance and smooth, my husband not a regular drinker loves it so much, he’s putting it on his ‘to drink’ list.
It’s worth the over an hour drive, my husband and I tried out once before bringing our son, the second time still very impressed with the sushi chef and the service we received starting from the first step we entered the front door to the time we left.
Superb!
This was our first omakase and why not experience it at a Michelin rated restaurant. The restaurant has high ceilings and the atmosphere was perfect. The customer service and attention to detail was phenomenal. The hostess, waitress and chef truly made our experience so much better. Of course, the food was superb. The chef prepares the sushi with precision and it was fun to watch him. They truly make you feel special while you’re there. I would highly recommend eating here.

Excellent experience, the whole package is perfect with the venue, ambiance, service and food. We really like to thank the friendly and attentive service from the chef, waitress and hostess. We especially like the idea that they show you the name and picture of the fish you are having. Will definitely visit again bringing our friends and family.

This is our first time to visit this restaurant and the service is incredible. Although the pricing is in the high side, it worths every penny.
The sever is very attentive and the chef knows how to entertain us. My son was sleeping most of the time as we travelled from HK, they offered off menu to my boy.
They only served omakase and they hv shipment to New York. The fish is truly amazing. We will definitely visit again.
Superb to extraordinary
A sushi place like Onodera is unique. I have travelled the world and had sushi in Japan, South East Asia and of course United States in fantastic places. But Onodera is just unique and deserves its 2 Michelin macarons.

Great atmosphere. it was my 3rd time.
It is expensive but worth the money.
Great place for a special occasion.
Great lunch
Heads up, the restaurant may be a little difficult to find because there might still be scaffolding’s covering the sign. When you do find it you’ll walk into a wooden cube where you’ll confirm your reservation. For lunch I was seated at the bar and it was one sushi chef for every four guests. Had some varieties Fish I’ve never had before sushi or otherwise. Heads up thatThe chefs however are a limited in their English, and you won’t be having extended conversations with them, not in English at least. I didn’t like that the waitress served from behind meaning I had to lean back or turn sideways to get beverages etc. It’s definitely on the much higher end of sushi restaurants for $120 for 12 pieces of sushi with one or two appetizers and one dessert plus sake. Still I always wanted to eat here and I did enjoy my experience, not sure that I will be going back anytime soon though, one of those checked the box experiences. If it’s on your check the box List I highly recommend you do it. Lunch starts at $100 for 10 pieces plus some extras, but dinner starts at 300$ I believe.

My friend and I treat ourselves at least once a year to a super special Omakase experience in NYC, and after seeing the 2 Michelin stars, we had to try this.
With some of the other places we’ve tried recently- Shuko... Sushi Azabu to name a few - where almost every bite had our eyes rolling back with pleasure and having some of the best and flavorful bites at a sushi restaurant, SGO could have been any ordinary sushi place.
There wasn’t anything we ate on this $300 Omakase that I would describe as great. From the appetizers, that were just ok... and some with odd flavors... to the nigiri course...it just left me annoyed to pay that price and not be blown away.
