Great food; Good price
We came here for the first time for lunch. We had a great experience. Our server Kay was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was all really good and it was at a great price! We had toro, yellowtail, a couple rolls, and the chicken teriyaki. (We wanted to try a wide variety of the food to judge). Overall I would recommend coming here!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing quality low price
Came here with my boyfriend and we absolutely loved it! Doesn't look like much from the outside but it's so cute inside, actually feels like Japan and the atmosphere is really chill. Sushi was incredible, their unagi is honestly one of the best I've ever had and price is lower than I would have expected for this quality. Will definitely be back!!
Be the first to ReplyThis is the Original KatsuYa
This is the original one. All your favorites were invented here. When I started going to this location Chef KatsuYa was still working the sushi bar. It still holds up to all the flash of the Hollywood location, I prefer the original. Sushi Chef Patrick is a star and very creative. I highly recommend this location. Don’t let the mini-mall fool you this is one of the best sushi restaurants in the city, Chef KatsuYa’s dishes are more creative then Nobu.

Not impressed. Some rolls were good but nothing extraordinary. Also the restaurant installations - below average for this price range.

The Lobster is amassing....
Also the Oysters... very fresh and good.
I recommend this plase
Great sushi !
We were party of 6, family and friends, we enjoyed every dish and every minute of our time at the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyYummy Japanese delicacies in an average-looking restaurant
We have been here twice before, years ago, and decided to make again the long trip to Universal City only to see if our memories are still valid. We were not disappointed.
We sampled a variety of small dishes - all wonderful.
The service was excellent, the atmosphere was loud and jovial, but we, oldies, did not mind (!), because we enjoyed our meal so much.
Hopefully, we shall be back (some day).
One drawback - the valet service costs $7.00 - a real rip-off
Luscious!
We came to Sushi KaTsu-Ya for a birthday celebration, which happened to be around Christmas time; highly expected a tough time to get a table. Luckily, even though the place was packed as always, we seated promptly without much wait.
We ordered: Katsuya Plate ($21.80); A Combination with three Choices ($17.30) and a bottle of KaTsu-Ya Sake ($17.00). We enjoyed the tasty foods and responsive service.
Overhyped
Sushi quality is uneven and not much in the way of innovation. Very loud and agree that valet parking is a ripoff.
Be the first to ReplyAgadashi tofu is superb
Lunch with friends. A wide variety if dishes. The Agadashi tofu was really good, as was the spicy tuna with seared rice. We followed these up with nigiri and had a splendid meal.

We went to the Sushi Katsu-ya in Woodland Hill. It was sooo good! We sat at the bar and let the sushi chef make what he wanted. Best way to go as you end up having things you love, but didn't know about! Great sake, service, atmosphere and sushi!! It's busy, make a reservation and park further away and walk. It was a little loud, but better at the bar for some reason.
