We have frequented Tavola over the last 10 years.
The food has always been enjoyable. This past week my husband had a hair in his pasta. The waitress asked to see it as if he would fabricate such a statement. He showed her and she had no response until he asked for a new dish. She asked the manager and indeed replaced the dish. The bill came without an apology or an offer for the inconvenience. We requested a discount for that dish. The manager only then came over to say that his health inspection grade is an "A" and that no one in the kitchen has long hair. He did discount the meal but an apology or, perhaps an offer of an espresso would have been a better business decision.

We enjoyed $6 happy hour wine and authentic Italian. It was a great find!

Ciao! You enter Tavola and immediately feel transported to Italy. They are very busy on Saturday nights, but we were able to walk-in (party of 2) and snag a seat at the bar. The bartender was our server and was masterful in balancing everything. The Caesar salad was incredible but the eggplant parmigiana was even better and the Prosecco and rose were delightful wines. It was warm, busy, and welcoming. Very small and quite loud, but it felt alive and part of the experience. My second time coming for dinner and it's always delicious.

Old school Italian cooking with a amazing flair to update the classics. Attention to a quality service and attentive staff with friendly servers. Love the feeling of a fun inviting place to go for a fabulous dinner to a quick bite before a game . Absolutely going back ..... this time with a bunch of friends so they can pass the word too!

Everything was great but gentle note to chef on the Orchietti/broccoli rabe/sausage-the sausage REALLY needs to be crumbled! Thank you

Cozy Italian restaurant with quality traditional pizzas and pastas. I ordered the Vendetta Sarda Pizza ($19). It was a solid pizza with soft pizza dough and tasty mozzarella and wild boar sausage. The basil added a nice herbal flavor to counter the savoriness. My one complaint is that the toppings fell off too easily when I tried to pick up a slice or take a bite. I also tried the Pappardelle with Wild Mushroom Veal Ragu ($25). The pasta tasted fresh and was cooked well - soft enough to easily chew but still retaining some chewiness. The veal ragu was a tasty complement to the pasta. The prices were fine for a sit-down Italian restaurant like this. The manager was very friendly and greeted us warmly. The rest of the staff are pretty friendly as well. The service speed was pretty fast. The restaurant was very busy on a Wednesday night, but we were able to be seated right away. The interior has a warm, cozy feel with tasteful Italian-inspired decor including some interesting items like tomato cans on the shelves by the wall.Overall, I would recommend adding Tavola to your list of Italian restaurants to try in NYC, especially if you happen to be in the Midtown West area.

Decent pizza but when you're competing in a town full of some of the best pies around, competition is tough. Drinks and wine were not strong but worked for flavor. Calamari was a bit bland even with the sauce, unfortunately. I wouldn't ordinarily take away a star from a rating from any of the above comments but I did remove it due to a couple of dirty dishes (or dishes that needed to be rewarded, maybe?) that we were given but they removed them as soon as we pointed it out. Wait person was mostly efficient although we had to flag them down a few times to ask about the order and order more drinks. Nothing of note but for a lil joint early in the day when less busy, I expected a bit more. We may go back but it's not a must.
Be the first to ReplyThe inside was beautiful and very cute.
I would make sure and call if you have a big party.I loved my pasta and so did the other people I went with. If you have dietary restrictions they have a vegan lasagna and they offer almost all pasta gluten free. The prices were supper reasonable. I would definitely go again.
Be the first to ReplyThe manager was super nice and helpful.
He got us a table and we were in and out in record time! He made suggestions on wine which was amazing! The food was fresh and tasted good. Great spot will return again.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for breakfast.
Seems to be a popular place in the neighborhoods! Warmly welcomed by the owner and the staff! The food is great! I had eggs benedict! The restaurant was spotless and cozy! Will come back, thanks, guys!
Be the first to ReplyI got the gluten-free pizza which was disappointing.
It was thick more like pizza bread. But the flavors were good. Just not what I was expecting. They could be more clear on the menu. You don't expect that from an Italian place. The Chianti was not great either. My husband had the gnocchi which he said was pretty good but not as good as others he has had in NYC.

Incredible food, perfectly quaint and authentic Italian atmosphere, great waitstaff. We 10/10 recommend eating at Tavola, in fact we ate there twice. Their gluten free pizza is the fluffiest and best crust I've Ever eaten!

The pizza was fab, however the cacio e pepe tasted like buttered noodles and the eggplant parm was just a disappointment. It took forever for the meals to come out, but the pizza 5 minutes.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service.
This is the best Italian food I have ever had. The wine list is great and fairly priced.
