The Bold Octopus Almancil Reviews
Not as good this time.
Third visit in recent times to Bold Octopus. Service ended up being decent, but we needed to give them a polite nudge after being ignored for 10 minutes when we turned up. Food was below par compared to our last visit. It's pricey, and i'
Not the experience we expected.
We were excited for a special lunch at the Bold Octupus but sadly it didnβt live up to our expectations. Pre-arrival was confirmed by email, phone & text, on arrival we were greeted and enjoyed a drink outside as we were early. The selection fo
Amazing venue and location
This is in such a great location, very secluded, and great for sunsets. Staff were very attentive and food was very good, asked for medium steak but was more well done. But still very good.
Fun location with average food
This has a fun vibrant atmosphere and is obviously popular. The wine list was decent - pretty hefty mark ups but some nice wines. We found the food mixed. Tuna was great but the calamari average. The portions for the price were very small - 2 shri
Very good but previous visits have been better.
Every time we come to Portugal we always visit The Bold Octupus once. This year was a bit of a let down. We arrived early for sunset drinks as always and sat at the front, upstairs was bouncing as always which is great. Our table was at 8.30 but we
Something very special
There are only 2-3 restaurants in the golden triangle we visit without fail every year, this being one of them. The popcorn shrimp gets better every year, consistent quality of food and hands down amazing service is always guaranteed. Enjoyed this vi
Itβs just great. Not much more to say.
Our annual trip to Portugal and the Bold Octopus is always the first restaurant we book when planning our holiday. Awesome food, friendly, attentive staff and location is immense. Shout out to the Tuna Tataki (it was lovely) as were the cocktails!!!!
Family friendly - loved it
A gorgeous setting, friendly service. Thereβs a lovely menu with lots of options. Portions are gigantic so you may not need a starter. Very good
High quality dining, fine views of dunes and Rio Formosa
Beautiful setting, in the dunes between Ancao and QdL, overlooking the Rio Formosa and with a view of the sea. A higher end restaurant with some exceptional food (my tuna tataki was awesome). Service also very good. And a bar at the top with live mus
Great!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Gorgeous setting where you can just walk onto the beach and the food was delicious. Amazing chicken gyoza starter, and then great gambas but overall service, food and setting is to die for. We will come again
Nice Experience
We were a family of 4 adults and had a lovely meal. We had a late table and although we found the staff not to be overly outgoing or chatty, they were polite and did their jobs adequately. The setting, venue and food were great but the prices were
Lively! Sun terrace has a DJ, don't expect peace and quiet up there! Great menu. Friendly and efficient service. Good views. Not cheap, but I think you get what you pay for. We booked a return trip in September.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to The Bold Octopus Almancil at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the The Bold Octopus Almancil page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* DistinguishedTree58, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's $200 bid.
* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at The Bold Octopus Almancil to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, DistinguishedTree58 receives the $200 reward which is credited to DistinguishedTree58's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at The Bold Octopus Almancil!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
