Awesome experience
Awesome dinner and experience. Wait staff exceptional, food delicious. Only criticism, booked as a birthday dinner, no mention of birthday, or anything special. Yes, pricey, but definitely a special occasion go to place. NO Steak will ever compare!

Impossible to get a reservation. I put myself on the waitlist they called me at 1:30 for 2:30 opening and we rushed there. You get a quick tour and run down of the meats and the cuts in their showcase which was helpful. I never heard of Spinalis cut and decided to try it. It was the best tasting thing I've ever had in my life! Which I must have mentioned on the way home a hundred times! We shared a Caesar salad which was ginormous and plenty. The steaks do not come with any sides and the only two sides I saw offered were brussel sprouts or french fries. My husband had the Kansas City Strip, it comes precut which is nice. The only complaint I have is it is so dark in there. You have to use the flashlight on your phone to even see the menu. I don't know why restaurants have to be that dark

Overpriced with limited menu options. Got there at 452p for a 5p reservation. “We are not ready for you”. We waited in an uncomfortably small bar area. Eventually, I noticed other tables being seated. I asked them if our table was ready and they said “yes”. Well, when did you plan on letting me know.??? No Prime Rib. No burger. Can you make me a chicken parm instead of a veal parm? No. The vibe: you are lucky to be here and lucky to drop $400 on dinner for two. Zero hospitality. Less than zero Rather drive into Manhattan to a real steakhouse.

Amazing date night! My husband and I came to celebrate my birthday. The service was impeccable, the ambiance was beautiful, the cocktail/wine selection was fantastic, and the food was delicious. We had the tuna crisp special for an appetizer, which was outstanding. For our entrees, we shared the waygu KC strip and the spinalis, with the crispy potatoes and brussels sprouts. All were excellent! On par with any steakhouse in the city. Great experience.
Be the first to ReplyGood, but Pricey
There is complimentary valet (make sure to tip) otherwise its street parking (they have a very tiny parking lot available). Though there is nothing to shield you from the weather when waiting for the valet. Servers were very nice. Place is definitely crowded so it can easily get a little loud. Food and cocktails were good but did not quite meet the level I expected for the price point. The brussel sprouts were honestly my favorite thing.

We tried this place for our son’s birthday (he’s a huge steak fan). I am originally from KC, so I’m always in search of a great steak. Well, look no further! This place is A++! We had the ribeye for 2 and the KC strip, plus a Caesar salad, sautéed mushrooms and crispy potatoes. All were delicious and cooked perfectly. I thought the KC strip was better than the ribeye, but both were delicious! Definitely a lot of food to share between the 4 of us (which they encourage). Service was also fantastic. My only “beef” haha, is it’s dark and hard to read the menu; plus they didn’t have cocktail prices listed. Very strange. But, overall, loved this place! We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyAn expensive but good dining experience
This place is always packed, which is crazy since you can't get a reservation unless you actually go there (nobody answers the phone). The food is expensive but good. Servers are friendly but can be busy.

We go to The Butcher's Block every time we are in town. The Service is 5 Star The Food is 5 Star The Vibe is 5 Star The Music is 5 Star
Be the first to ReplyThere are far better choices. Would not return
Pretentious and overpriced. Had 45-day aged ribeye - a bit tough, expected better considering the hype and the price. Sides were excellent, server - Stephanie was wonderful! Playing rap music during dinner - completely inappropriate. They don’t seem to know who they want for a customer. It is lacking in refinement. There are far better choices available.

Was invited for a lunch here. It is VERY DIFFICULT to get evening reservations, so if you really want to go, make a lunch reservation. They must be made online. The restaurant does NOT have a phone. From the moment you enter the parking lot, from the artwork to the exterior decorations, you can tell all the work that went into the place. Then you walk inside and wow. Areas with large glass windows with indoor fireplaces. Several cozy rooms. Bathrooms with all brick walls and additional wall art. Service was very good. They bring you to the glass enclosed steak area and explain all your choices. We picked on this occasion, the wagyu skirt steak which was wonderful. The meals here are going to cost you, but you won't walk away feeling like you didn't get what you paid for. Looking to return with other friends and family, if I can ever get a reservation online.
Be the first to ReplyJust way way overpriced
Food is good but steaks are salty Hint most chefs just sprinkled very good salt on a steak before serving. Not saturated while cooking Very loud inside Two people are gonna cost a least $250 Let see how many people go back for a second visit with those prices Wait staff are trained to push u out too. In many ways they act like robots with what say and act

Average steak ordered medium was raw Bread was terrible No one ate more than a bite Long wait for the food. Obnoxious atmosphere.

I have been to this establishment several times. It never disappoints, from the service (which is the best in all of NJ), to the food (which is delicious). The waitstaff could not be any more attentive and helpful! The food from the appetizers to the delicious steaks are top notch. I would highly recommend you try and get a reservation because you won't regret it!
Be the first to ReplyTOO LOUD inside
Why would anyone have to shout to converse when having dinner. Many diners asked for the music to be lowered and the hostess said no, so I say NO to this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyStay away from this place
My wife and family had dinner the 1st time and it was the worst experience I've ever had. Apparently there was a fire in the kitchen and they moved all the grilling to the outside patio. Experienced a extremely long wait to be served only to be disappointed. Our steaks were burnt on the outside, cold raw in the center.... sent them back and they came back like beef jerky. The management should have been honest and offered the opportunity to reschedule rather than be disappointed.

Never got to eat. Made August reservation in June. Upon arrival at 6 was advised that seating was outside. Not communicated when making res. Was 85 degrees and humid. Refused to seat us inside. Chose to leave. What would they have done if it rained ? Won’t be back.

It’s an adult Disney World of food and vibe experience.
Your mind wanders from the bone marrow pizza to take in the amazing decor and chandeliers.
If you haven’t had their Brussel sprouts and the pasta bolognese you just don’t know.
The staff is hip without making you feel less hip!
The music is not what you’d expect at a food experience like this but somehow the mix of rap and surf rock finds its way into your heart.
It is the ongoing canvas of a young visionary.
See it while it’s young and grow with it.
Jersey Butcher/Steakhouse
I can’t say enough about how awesome of a find this was. A few different recommendations from locals all steered me to this still in operation Butcher shop that has added a restaurant to its repertoire in May of ‘19.
Maggie the hostess was terrific and Rickey our waiter had quite the spiel. We told him none of the party of 5 had dined there before and he guided us through the menu with expertise! Everyone got to go visit the butchers window to hand select the type of meat and specific cut we wanted. I believe the items on the menu frequently change so I won’t make you salivate as to what they offer as I don’t want to get your hopes up, just take my word for it that even though this place can be expensive, it’s well worth it and btw, it’s BYOB for anything you wanted to bring to imbibe with.
Great Steak!
Central Jersey has long been lacking a great steak experience. NOT anymore!! We have been trying to dine here for several months now, but our schedule and COVID-19 restrictions have delayed us. We finally made it last night. From bread to appetizers( sausage, oysters, and salad), entrees( filet mignon, porterhouse, and dry-aged ribeye) and sides ( Brussels sprouts and truffle mac-and-cheese) to dessert we were not disappointed. Even the rain and damp outdoor environment couldn’t ruin it! Our food was properly prepared to the correct temperature( a rarity these days ) and service was attentive and cheerful( thank you Eileen ). We scheduled our return visit on our way out... Can’t wait!
Be the first to ReplyHad to write about our experience
Had to write about our experience at this great restaurant. We had a fantastic dinner! First of all, our waitress, Luiza was very attentive as were all the other servers. My husband and son ordered steak that they got to pick out from the butcher counter and got advice from the butcher on which type of steak to order. We ordered the calamari for appetizer, as well as two different salads and we were very happy. I don’t eat meat, but there was a selection of fishes and chicken to choose from. My daughter ordered the sea bass and I ordered the grilled shrimp. We had their Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes as sides and everything was delicious. It’s a BYOB, but you can order a bottle from a variety of wines. Dessert was to die for....I can’t even describe it...ice cream, brownie, caramel, nuts. This is a pricey restaurant, but I would recommend it if you’re looking for something special. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Parking is limited, but a valet is there, so don’t stress the limited space... upon walking to the front of the restaurant the ambiance already pulls you in... a fire, a vw camper, blocked lighting... an absolute vision.
Inside, even more well done. Yes the space isn’t large, and odds are you’ll probably need a reservation if you’re looking to eat at meal time on the weekend.
You see the whole process, depending on where you sit... but I’ll get back to this.
Sitting down, you get a menu...
The process is you pick your apps and sides first... they advertise as a byob, so take advantage of your favorite wine along with an amazing dinner.
Here’s my only knock...
half the menu wasn’t available for order... I’m not sure if this was:
- we tried it and it didn’t work out
- we ran out
- were limiting our menu tonight
For example, the pizzas are no longer available... which we were told it just didn’t work out... also, they were limited on apps (no focaccia, although the bread they give you is fantastic), and while 4 desserts were listed and were told 2 specials, they literally only had one dessert available per our waiter.
Anyway... after picking your apps/sides... you get up, walk over to the butcher room and pick out your meat... yes, like choosing a lobster from a tank, but better.
Prices are fixed based on weight, so pricing is what it is.
Our waiter seemed to be brand new, as he was introducing himself to other staffers, but knew some as well, he escorted us to the butcher room and said check it out, any questions, the butcher will help you.
I will say, the entire staff were approachable and friendly, and usually, helpful.
Once you pick the steak... back to your seats you go, the waiter will walk by with your steak.. and in the oven it goes.
We’re getting long here on the review, so I’ll keep it short...
Quite possibly the best steak I’ve ever had. I love a good steak, and have gone to many... it’s that good, flavor wise and presentation.
Despite the lack of choices on the menu (please either update your website or in house menu if possible, I get its new and you’re working out the kinks... but your place is too good for it).
This spot is a 5-star all the way.
Thanks for the great meal, awesome building, & fantastic staff.
We’ll be back!
Do u believe the hype?
Yes the environment is enchanting. Rustic butcher turned New York City type restaurant has an allure to it... like a tall blond with big earrings . Had lunch there with some friends who reserved a room in the back. Heard so much hype wasn’t sure it could live up the build up. He knew what to order like the garlic bread and the sausage in chimichurri sauce., the meatballs and we choose the steak from the butcher ourselves out front. Outstanding. The steak is cooked in a brick oven that gave it a rich flavor. For dessert we had the bacon donuts. U don’t just come here for the steaks, it’s everything around it.

What a great atmosphere! We were warmly greeted by the host and owner. We ordered a charcuterie board appetizer, steak, fresh fish and yummy side dishes. Everything was delicious! We especially liked that they purchase from local businesses too.
Be the first to ReplyFinally a great steak place
The Butcher Block is a great restaurant with an atmosphere that is so inviting. The meats are incredible and you can pic\k your favorite cut or aged beef and they will prepare it to perfection. Their menu is small but with enough variety to please every palate. This is a BYOB place so bring your favorite wine with you. Reservations strongly recommended. The pricing is on the high end but not really when you consider you are getting the best of the best!

Outstanding food. A little hectic getting seated, but worth the wait. Byob which i love. This place needs to expand to accomodate the crowds.
