Great meat restaurant
Fantastic meat restaurant that combines high quality with very friendly service. The particularly charming building also has a shop where you can buy a delicious piece of meat. We started the evening with the delicious Secreto 07 by the Butcher's Store. So tender that the meat almost melted on our tongue. As a starter I enjoyed the surprising combination of beef tartare with smoked eel and caviar. Simply fantastic. Because it was game season, we decided to go for the hare loin, which could only be ordered by two people. The waiter came to show the saddle of hare to the table before taking it back to the kitchen. The hare back then returned to our plate in the form of hare back pate and beautiful pieces of meat with garnish. With our meal we had a nice bottle of Barbera d'Alba from Piedmont. Highly recommended for meat lovers.

Delicious dinner in an authentic setting (De Koninck brewery site). Daring but refined dishes from a top chef: smoked and grilled veal tongue with crispy fried veal brains and brain sauce! As a main course: stuffed pork leg with salsify and pickles. Daring, but extremely tasty. Our table companions also enjoyed an indescribably delicious Hereford entrecôte. Pure indulgence! Paired with delicious drinks: wine and digestifs - Madeira and fine Whiskeys. An exceptional gastronomic evening - worth repeating!

Great food in a beautiful setting. Top service, fast and friendly. Steak tartare was great, tasty fries and fresh mayonnaise. Highly recommended. We will definitely go back
Be the first to ReplyLunch in a beautiful location!
We were here for lunch, a beautiful restaurant where you are warmly welcomed upon entering. In the entrance the beautiful meat is already smiling at you, because that is what it is all about here, meat!! Top quality, that's what we got here. Terrine foie starter, beautiful flavors, followed by a beautiful piece of côte de boeuf to share, accompanied by creamy fresh béarnaise, fries fried in ox white, and a crispy fresh salad. As a companion a top Rioja, our lunch couldn't have been better!!!!

Meals take long to be served, so come with time on your hand. The meat is excellent and so are all the dishes we got served !
Be the first to ReplyAn ok Restaurant - but don’t expect a Michelin service or food.
Far from a Michelin guide restaurant. A good evening with ok food and totally ok service but please, don’t tell me this is a Michelin restaurant - someone has been blind when rating this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyHit and miss, but sometimes big misses.
I have mixed emotions while reviewing this place. On the one hand there are some really positive aspects to the Butcher’s Son which really stand out, on the other, some really not very impressive and wholly incompatible with a restaurant carrying a Michelin star. Let me explain. I think the set up is really good here, it’s great to be able to watch the hustle and bustle as the chefs do their work behind the pass, with pretty much everything on display. It’s light, airy and modern. The wine list is pretty good and not ridiculous in its pricing and being within the De Koninck brewery complex, there’s also some quality beer. Service was courteous and professional. We do make an effort to “connect” with front of house staff whatever establishment we’re in, we feel it makes for a more relaxed, friendly and enjoyable experience all round. I think in this respect we failed to break down the slightly stiff barriers during our visit, which is fair enough. Some people like to maintain their professional distance. Food was of a very good quality, the steak tartare I had as a main was absolutely top drawer. But I did witness one rather unsavoury event behind the pass which I did find pretty appalling. We were well into our dessert course when I first noticed one of the souse chef’s licking his fingers while prepping ingredients, shortly no doubt to be incorporated into some customers food. This happened on at least 2-3 occasions. To say that took the edge off the evening would be an understatement.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service in an industrial/impersonal setting
We went there for our anniversary, but it was a disappointment. It is basically a museum restaurant. The setting is very industrial and impersonal, cold lights and all. The appetizer was good, iberian ham (cold meat) from the butcher shop below. But for the main dish my wife ordered fish, and I ordered meat. The waiter repeated my order. Then, when it came, I got the same fish as my wife -- probably because I had ordered the same appetizer. The fish had no particular taste. The white wine we ordered was not really cold and was served in too small portions. The meal was over 75 minutes after we entered. How they ever got a Michelin star is beyond me. They must give awards for originality instead of quality.
