Delightful place to have a meal!
I went to the Harwood Arms with my adult daughter on a visit to London, and we found it to be a lovely, relaxing and delicious place to have dinner. The service was delightful from beginning to end and the food is just to die for. The presentation is also beautiful, which seems to be generally less common recently. I had the venison, which was cooked perfectly and my daughter had the fish, which she loved. The desserts are gorgeous to look at as well as to eat - special call out for the flan, which I had never had before but loved. It isn't an inexpensive place but for a special meal it is well worth it! Highly recommend!

Went here as friends wanted to go. Table was small and water/wine ended up going on the floor as no space on the table. Nothing spectacular about the food in my opinion and had better food in my local pub if Im honest. Waiter was rude not funny as he thought he was being. Dog sat on chair on the next table - is this allowed in a restaurant?
Be the first to ReplySunday Roast
One of the things I wanted to do during our trip was have a Sunday roast and I quite literally stumbled across The Harwood Arms. We arrived mid-afternoon on Sunday without a reservation. Understandably busy, they were only able to accommodate us at the bar, with a limited menu. But since that limited menu included a Sunday roast, I was happy. All the staff were very kind to us and the food was ah-mazing! It was not until I looked up the restaurant's website after we had left that I discovered it was a Michelin-starred restaurant. The food is excellent, the staff is wonderful, and the ambiance is wonderful. Highly recommend!!!
Be the first to ReplyBirthday Sunday lunch
The Harwood Arms in Fulham has such a spectacular reputation, it was with a certain trepidation that four of us descended on this visually unassuming pub for my birthday lunch. We were equally trepidatious going for Sunday lunch... surely, there's not much leeway for excellence in this most traditional of British culinary traditions. But there was no need for concern. The meal was excellent – 3 course £65 - not cheap, but this is a Michelin-starred restaurant after all. My warm pumpkin tart starter was sublime. The slow-cooked fallow deer shoulder was excellent, if a little let down by the stale Yorkshire pudding (I am a Yorkshireman). The vegetables were perfect. My mandarin trifle dessert was also excellent. We ordered a couple of bottles of 2015 Chateau Franc-Cardinal - a nice claret at a reasonable £64. Price-wise, it is on a par with the equally-excellent (but slightly pretentious) Hawksmoor restaurant in Knightsbridge.
Be the first to ReplyExpectations were high, too high.
A good Sunday roast; overall, is my favourite meal. The Harwood Arms has been on my restaurant radar for several years. I finally made a booking and waited 3 months. The entire experience was good, but the cost was not justified. Nice restaurant still maintaining a pub feel, the décor is great. Our group of 3 shared a venison scotch egg just to try. You can’t really go wrong with a warm scotch egg with a runny yolk and it didn’t disappoint. I started with the venison pate en croute. Nothing special, but good enough. Now down to the main, which I had waited years for. Had to go with the beef and as I feared, it is more of steak than a roast. As good as the beef was, I’d prefer a couple of slices of top quality roasted prime rib. The potatoes were good, albeit coated in some type of batter or flour to ensure crispiness. The Yorkshire Pudding was okay, although I’ve had better in pubs charging less than £20. The gravy, arguably the most important part of a roast, was average. The vegetables were bland, some broccolini and a giant carrot to share, nothing special at all. Pudding was a mandarin trifle, although it wasn’t a trifle, more of a sundae. Once I got over it not being a trifle, it was nice. Lovely flavour of cloves or cardamon. Service was okay. The gentleman that seated us needs to cheer up. The lady that served us most of the time was excellent. Bonus points (from the restaurant, not me) for pouring the wine at a rapid rate. The mission being for us to polish off a bottle before the mains arrived and order another. Sorry… not at those prices. The wine was typically overpriced with a 300-350% markup. Along with a couple of other drinks each and the service charge, we paid almost £150 a head. This exorbitant cost would have been cushioned if I’d walked away from a memorable meal, but sadly not to be.
Be the first to ReplyPleasantly suprised
It has been a while since i returned to the Harwood Arms. It did not seem to live up to its Michelin standard since, Stephen Williams the first Chef left. However it seems that standards have improved and the food was delicious, Also the cost was reasonable . The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection. We ordered a bottle of wine which my friend di not like and it was exchanged for a different wine. The waiter was gracious and very helpful. I think from this experience my visits will be more frequent. To add, I do think there should be some less pricey wines on offer as there are some really good wines out there for less.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific Birthday Lunch, a Real Treat!
Once again Child B summoned us to the smoke to mark his birthday and eat at this house as part of his celebratory package. Great food, great people - Alex in particular ( I've had mixed experiences with people called Alex in the past but this was a very good one). Scotch egg snacks to start, followed by three courses, some excellent beer and a belly full of house wine plus complementary birthday candle with additional ice cream, meringue and some tasty lemon thing that I'm told maybe a jus or possibly a reduction of some sort. I don't know, I don't cook for a living, I mostly chop trees down at the moment, but these people do cook, and are clearly worthy of all the gongs they have been awarded. The long and sumptuous lunch for five came in at just over four hundred zobs, which, for the standard of service and food presented we considered great value when compared to the price of the pair of trainers he initialled requested for his birthday. The one downside the absence of the spectacular Guinea Fowl dish that we have enjoyed on previous visits, We attributed this to Avian Flu or possibly unrest in Guinea, but it certainly didn't distract from our midday culinary reverie at this excellent establishment. Thanks for hosting us, see you again soon.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic quality food, big mark ups on wine
Took a client here for lunch. The food was absolutely first rate, from the Scotch egg, through the mackerel with tartare sauce and then a delicious beef short rib and a fab pud. Service was solicitous and efficient, as you would expect at this price point and calibre of restaurant. £65 for 3 courses was very good value, but the wine list was very expensive for what was on offer. I know many of the cheaper bottles from the list and buy them regularly from The Wine Society. The mark up is more than I am used to. In short, however, a wonderful venue for a special lunch.
Be the first to ReplyEverything stored in the fridge
Per the review title, everything was stored in the fridge My starter was the venison pate. This was hard and cold as it had been refrigerated for quite some time prior to plating. The pork, for two, was pretty tasteless. It was unseasoned. The jus did not have enough flavour to counteract the blandness of the pork. Dessert - a custard tart. Equally poor and dull. Again, over refrigerated. None of my courses ordered were finished, It would be a shame for Harwood Arms to lose their Michelin star but the food does not come recommended at all. I remain beyond disappointed. Do not waste your money here

I love this restaurant so much! Everyone is so lovely who works there and the food is always delicious. Thank you so much for a lovely evening.
Be the first to ReplyNot bad, but just not good enough
Really quite shocked by this experience. Visited for Sunday lunch which had been booked months ago. The food was very good but underwhelming considering the Michelin star and the price. Wine was very expensive for the quality and the service was genuinely shocking. We were seated and then left for almost twenty minutes, staff were rude but not necessarily aggressive, rolling their eyes as the explained certain drinks or as we asked for a starter. The service was just extremely awkward while the pub was less than half full and staff standing around chatting. Took almost another twenty minutes for a plates to be cleared, no one asked how the food was or how we were. It was an odd experience and while the food wasn’t bad by any stretch, it just wasn’t great and for what is possibly the most expensive roast in London you really should expect, and receive, more.
Be the first to ReplyPathetic service. Unbelievable
Not even close to Michelin star. I imagine the next time they visit they will be taking it straight away. £180 for 2 roasts and a bottle of wine. Beef was excellent but the service was completely and utterly abysmal. Like completely terrible. No one checked back on us, despite us leaving almost full plates no one asked when clearing how it was. Paying the bill they didn’t ask again how everything was. Rude and not attentive. Plates took 20 minutes to clear and took about 15 minutes to take our order. No one seemed to give a hoot about the guest experience. I understand the idea of informal dining and laid back service but this was an absolute joke. Blacklock is 50% cheaper, as are most other roast places in London. Won’t return ever
Be the first to ReplyVery good experience.
My wife and I came for lunch in July. It was again very good experience. The menu is small but very good a very good execution makes it a great experience. The wine list is ok. We have come to this restaurant for many years and it never disappoints us.
Be the first to ReplySplendid in every way
We recently visited The Harwood Arms to celebrate my husbands birthday. There is nothing not to like about this pub. From the moment we arrived, the service from the front of house staff was exceptional, the food was just sublime and not overly priced! The atmosphere is very relaxed, all in all a great experience and looking forward to going back again very soon.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food but service lacks grace
A birthday treat booked well in advance. The sunday roast is served on a platter for 2 to share. We ordered both beef and pork and both were excellent. 3 courses are £61 not cheap but well presented, good portion and very tasty. Such a shame therefore that the service is not at the same Michelin standard. Given a birthday dessert after we had ordered desserts, so ended up with 5! Waiting staff lacked personality and even manners at times. Poor eye contact and walking off mid conversation doesnt help your customer feel valued.
Be the first to ReplyExceeded Expectations
We ate lunch at the Harwood Arms earlier today. I had the appetizer special (bream) and my wife had the tomatoes. We then shared the duck for two. We took home the duck leg and roast potatoes as we wanted to leave room for dessert. Our waiter recommended the blood orange trifle and the earl grey tart. Imagine our surprise when we were brought a third dessert—the flan—to celebrate my wife’s seventieth birthday, which was today. We washed everything down with British Prosecco, produced in Kent. What a treat. If we didn’t live 5,000 miles away, we would be beck like a shot. Those who live near Fulham are extremely lucky.
Be the first to ReplyThe best pub experience in London
Simply the best pub we’ve ever been in. Food, service, atmosphere, cocktails and wine were of the highest standard. We can’t wait to return! Sea bream starter and Hispi Cabbage were unbelievable! Thank you for having us
Be the first to ReplyBang average roast. Bang average service.
We arrived a little ahead of our booking to be told our table wasn’t ready just yet, which is perfectly fine and was told to take a walk around the area. Why not, it’s a rainy Sunday? This isn’t a complaint but a observation, they like to pour the wine at the table and take away the stress of doing this yourself, however keep an eye on the glasses to top them up when low or in our case empty for almost 10 minutes. I like the style of service just wasn’t executed well at all. Like a training day. The food, whilst said the seabream tartare was a great dish. The roast wasn’t, very bang average something you’d find in a Youngs pub for example, didn’t want to write home for it, they said roast carrots and clearly boiled all veg was boiled and tossed in a seasoned butter on service, again not saying this is a bad roast, not at all. But for the standards they set you want to walk away with that roast blowing your mind, and quiet frankly it was meh? Positive was the size of the meat portions they didn’t hold back, but again did lack in flavour, in fact I’m almost certain the mint sauce was shop brought (Coleman’s) I figured. Earl grey tart was ok? Wasn’t indulgent but was very light and perhaps after the 2 courses only that was needed we had 1 to share. On another service level, we noticed a couple tables around us had their meals described to them by the waiter ours, with low effort placed the dish in front of us and wondered off, even leaving - it was a sad sorry goodbye whilst he was off somewhere else head not even pointing towards us to attempt to crack a smile. If I was to walk in again with himself greeting like before I would turn around and head to a bog standard pub to expect the same style of service for 10th of the price. All in all, not great I would like to try again mid week, and give it another chance. I’m not so sure I would though. Thanks.
Be the first to ReplyPoor Customer Service and needs to be reviewed
For months I was looking forward to come and enjoy a lovely dinner with friends at the Harwood as I heard good things about this Michelin Gatro Pub, however it became a nightmare when the Manager didn't want to add an extra chair in a table with enough people to accommodate 5. My friend booked a table to enjoy a nice dinner for her birthday for four people, but as in everything in life things change and an extra person turned up for her birthday dinner so we were five. She tried to call the restaurant few times last week and even on the same day to amend the booking from 4 to 5 ,but unfortunately no one in the restaurant picked up the call. When we asked to add an extra chair the Manager said that was not and option to accommodate an extra chair bear in mind the pub was nearly empty, so we tried to have a conversation with him but he came up with the cancelation fee to charge us £80 for a 'booking fee' and decided we had to leave as we were disturbing a couple in another table who came up so arrogant and tried to have an argument with us all. We already had the first round of drinks but unfortunately the Manager asked us to leave in such a poor communication with us (the customers).
Be the first to ReplyArrogant management team
I booked Harwood arms for 4 people in April to enjoy a nice birthday dinner with friends. An extra very good friend turned up that afternoon and wanted to join us. I tried to call them twice in advance to ask if an extra person can be accommodated no one answered the phone. When we arrived at the pub (which was half empty) they simply refused to give us an extra chair and they would told us that they charge us a £20 per person cancellation fee if we would leave although we didn’t cancel. The management team was totally uncooperative and simply arrogant. Terrible customer service. They were not able to explain properly the policy and when you ask them a question which is more challenging they couldn’t answer. I would never recommend this pub to anyone of my close circle.

We had 3 course lunch at Harwood Arms on a Saturday. It was not crowded when we arrived but filled in over the next hour. Service was at a good pace but not at all rushed, I don't think they turn tables at lunch. Bream tartare special was an expectation appetizer, and cheese tart also quite good. Standout entree was the pigeon, cooked perfectly and tender, beef cheeks also very good. Potatoes come with the entree, cooked perfectly and good consistency with the right amount of salt. And the brown bread with seeds were exceptionally good and warm. Will return later this year.
Be the first to ReplyA disregard for the well-being of their customers
We had a reservation for 7:30pm and one of our family members fell ill. We tried several times to call the restaurant to cancel the reservation but they don’t answer at the weekend. We left 2 voicemails explaining the situation and asked them to call back. They called us when we didn’t show up to say that we would be charged a cancellation fee. In the era of COVID we had a choice / either do the right thing and protect the patrons of the restaurant by staying home OR go to the restaurant anyway - not knowing whether some of us or all of us could be sick. We decided to do what, I would hope, all responsible people would do and stay home. We made every effort to let the restaurant know. They charged us anyway. The person I spoke to said that the rest of us could have come in and left the sick person (a child) at home. We had a lovely meal at the Harwood Arms last week and were looking forward to a second visit. However they have proven to be greedy and have no regard for the health of their customers so we will not return and recommend potential customers be aware of their behaviour.
Be the first to ReplyGastronomic Experience
We were excited to experience the only 1 Michelin star pub in London. We certainly were not disappointed. Tom and Alex were superb in serving us. The meal was served in a timely manner and each course was a gastronomic experience. The chestnut soup, the Irish brown bread, the beef, the lamb’s neck, the treacle slice, and the blond orange trifle were magnificent. Kudos to Jake, the head chef, who came out to see if we were enjoying it!
Be the first to ReplyExquisite delicious food, beautifully presented and served
We went here last night before the football at Stamford Bridge. I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough and would give it six stars if I could. The staff are attentive but not overbearing. The food is delightfully presented and the taste exquisite. We chose the 3 course option for £61 but if you want outstanding food, it's well worth it. I had a duck starter served with beetroot and radicchio, cod for mains and a custard and rhubarb tart for dessert. Served with the most amazing potatoes! Good choice of wines and very good home baked rolls to start. The memory of this meal will live with me for a very long time.
