You need to try the lobster roll for lunch
Definitely a must try if you want somewhere that’s slightly fancier and romantic for couples. Right next to the pier. The lobster roll is only a lunch special and highly suggest getting truffle fries with the meal (upgrading). I do agree with the other comments about the staff being “snooty” as when we sat down we were told there is strictly a “no outside drinks” policy. Hid my boyfriends soda in my purse. The price is between $20-200 for food item depending what you get. Our drinks were never empty! Definitely a must try if you visit Santa Monica pier.
Be the first to ReplyFood highly overrated, service very good, location excellent
I had a Caeser salad - very disappointing. The entre was Alaskan Halibut - too much hard crusty I don't know what stuff around the edges, and the halibut was just plain not good. Service was good, and location hard to beat though. Prices way to high for poor to mediocre food. Would expect super excellent food at these prices.
Be the first to ReplyLobster salad has a sweet dressing
Location, location, location. I figured this was going to be expensive but why on earth did the chef decided to put a sweet dressing on the lobster salad? What a waste of good lobster.

Nice view Very rushed .. to spend that kind of money and be rushed in unacceptable Shared appetizers and dinner and it was still over $300 If it was great I wouldn’t mind but it was just good
Be the first to ReplyAmazing, but expensive experience
The service, the location and the food were outstanding! We enjoyed everything about our dinner at The Lobster. The price gave us sticker shock though.
Be the first to ReplyUnder cooked food and appalling service
Food quality was average and the server was appalling. The $132 grilled lobster was underdone. The rest of the food was great. What should have been a great night turned out really average due to the rudeness and arrogance of the server. After being seated for 25 minutes and asking for a server twice, I thought it would be good to know what the expectations were with regards to the service since we were not informed by the hostess on how long it would take to get served. The server did not take this lightly and arrogantly informed me it’s Saturday night in LA and we should accept what we get. That being said, after the orders were placed the food arrived promptly with the 3lbs of lobster underdone. It was acceptable but not worth the $132 . I thought I would try and make the situation better and offered her an apology if I had offended her, which she quickly responded that she was not ready to accept an apology. Unfortunately she never was. Needles to say after going to this establishment for the last 9 years, tonight will definitely be my last and I will most surely share this experience with hall of my friends that have frequented this establishment for the last decade. This review if for anyone that will or maybe thinking about going to the lobster- be prepared for bad service ice as they have become complacent and have the attitude that they do not need your business
Be the first to ReplyWhat a big surprise
I ended up at The Lobster because the highly recommended seafood restaurant across the street had to offer only a pitiful place at the bar, which was a dull and uncomfortable counter. The Lobster put me also at their "bar" area, which actually was an absolutely charming, welcoming open space with tiny round individual tables and the great view over the sunset over the bay. My server, Charlie, was a total charm and the dishes I tasted were absolutely extraordinary. Every bite was a wonderful surprise. I learned later that the chef is not an ordinary one at The Lobster. The charred octopus is an amazing combination of subtle flavours with unexpected accents. The citrus cheesecake is a desert one will not easily forget. KUDOS! Chef GOVIND ARMSTRONG, if ever you decide to open in Montreal, Canada, I will absolutely be on your guests list! - Monica
Be the first to ReplyA light lunch
I love the Lobster by the Santa Monica Pier! I was born in Santa Monica and since The Lobster was remodeled I have gone there for family lunches & dinners and work luncheons. Today I took my boyfriend for a light lunch - he is having Chemotherapy and I have to walk with a cane with my issues. We arrived at Valet at 11:45 am and we took the elevator up. I can not do stairs and sat down outside to wait until they open at noon. My boyfriend went downstairs at noon to put our name down and the hostess said you were not open yet, it was after noon, so he couldn’t give them our name. So we waited while the hostess sat EVERYONE, then said all the window seats were reserved and then sat us in the very back, secluded from everyone up a wooden step which is hard on me. I have never felt so uncomfortable with your hostesses, like I was a unwanted handicap person. The food and the waiter were fine. The best of my whole experience was the bus boy. He was wonderful and even helped me get off that wood platform. Embarrassing and uncomfortable, Sue Springer In Venice
