Very good hotel
Very good hotel in a very good location. Great access to London . Stayed only 1 night and didn’t disappointed. The staff are professional but a bit robotic . Very good food and knowledgeable staff in the restaurant but yet again need to smile a bit more . Will be back and recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing facials with Megan!
The best thing about the stay were the facials we had with Megan! Thank you so much! Think I floated off somewhere for an hour and me and my partner were so glowy afterwards- the best facials we’ve had for a really long time.
Be the first to ReplyThe best staff, attention to detail and great stay
Just returning from a two night stay with my mum and sisters. We had a luxe comfy room and a lodge. Both were stunning. On arrival Izzy catered for our needs, was super attentive and welcoming. Offered some tips in nearby places to park etc. everywhere was so clean and lots to intricate details. Staff were always on hand to help. On the first night Matt made us a special “piggy” colada. On the second night Cian offered us a great wine recommendation and really made sure we had everything we needed. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Great food, vibes and the staff really do make it special. Thank you Izzy, Matt and Cian!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent response to faulty shower
This was our first visit to this Pig though have stayed at others over the years . Yes they are a bit more pricey than other nearby hotels but we have always enjoyed the helpful happy staff , quirky touches in the rooms and delicious food ! This Pig ticked all those boxes in its own unique way - an homage to its rock and roll way reflecting its previous incarnation as a music club ! However I now also appreciate the excellent customer care . Staying on a one night special offer we had a lovely “ middle range room” but discovered the shower wasn’t working fully before going out to dinner . Rang front desk expecting at best they would send someone to fix it first thing so we could enjoy shower before checking out / maybe a small voucher for next time.. Instead we were instantly offered a free choice of 2 different rooms - both at the top of the price range and when we moved over in the following 20 mins a lovely bottle of English champagne on ice was waiting to further apologise for the inconvenience !… Given that we were already on the discounted deal which included a leaving present of a bottle of white wine and a free cocktail at the bar - this really was kind ! To sum up at the Pig you definitely get what you pay for - care , and customer -focus not just bottom line obsession -we remain loyal Pug customers !!
Be the first to Replyoverpriced dish, low quality meat, otherwise
lovely place, attentive staff, shame about the grisle, bone and chewy bits in the meatballs. for £22 a dish you would expect a smooth fluffy meatball ground from the best cuts of meat, even if it means if comes from within a 25mile radius... it would have complemented the creamy mash and lovely onion gravy perfectly
Be the first to ReplyA very pleasant experience
We used the hotel chain created by Robin Hutson , the hotel du vin , and at the time It was an original idea well executed ,it fell apart when sold , very sad . However the Pig chain is bang on with many of the current shall we say “fads “ food from 25 mile radius , come as you are clothes , etc etc . But we loved it , I wondered about the huge numbers of cars in the park on arriving A hotel in middle of nowhere , the beautiful building , the kitchen garden , our “ room “ The barn a mini house perfectly decorated in keeping with its age , terrific bathroom And bedroom upstairs and relaxing lounge on the ground floor this is the one to have When staying here without a doubt . Very friendly staff , you sit wherever and they will serve you drinks etc , dinner was very good indeed , on a Thursday evening it was packed , full , which I found rather amazing , a path is clearly being beaten to here by the discerning public . Only slight quibble was breakfast , good selection on the buffer table , but my cooked breakfast was a bit thrown together on the plate with bacon I had not ordered , but the sausage was tasty , and the scrambled eggs good . We had enjoyed a breakfast the previous day at the Fleming hotel in London which was better and that was fresh in our minds , it was not quite so good at the pig , or indeed the breakfast we had at the star in alfriston a few months previously . But this was a minor matter , compared to the whole experience , a hotel in a wonderful setting , which in the spring or summer would be an even more joyous experience . We look forward to returning
Be the first to ReplyA perfect place to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary
We have just returned from celebrating our first wedding anniversary at The Pig at Bridge Place. The staff went out of their way to make our stay as special as possible with lovely gestures throughout our stay including a special happy 1st (paper) anniversary menu with our names on it! The house and rooms are entirely enchanting, the food is incredible and it's all set in stunning countryside with beautiful walks from the door. Our only regret is that we didn't book The Pig at Bridge Place for our honeymoon last year!
Be the first to ReplyPure heaven
I cannot begin to describe how amazing the The Pig at Bridge Place is. I was laughing when I read the bad reviews because those people must surely have gone somewhere else by accident because their experience really does not reflect the reality of the place. Firstly, the food is pure heaven. We went for my wife's 50th birthday and we had lunch, dinner and breakfast. All three were stunning and it's no surprise the restaurant was so busy, even on a weekday. We had the minute steak and plaice, both cooked to perfection, lovely and fresh. For dinner we tried the pork cutlet and beef stew and those were also amazing. Breakfast was to die for, with the loveliest cinnamon bun I've ever tasted. Great selection of cereals, juices and pastries, and the cooked breakfast was as magnificent as we had expected. Our room was beautiful. We had one of the large rooms with roll-top both. It was very cosy, with a superb view of the grounds. The in-room entertainment was great, with a nice selection of films to watch for free and the bed felt like a cloud to lie on. So comfortable. My wife had a massage and said it was one of the best she's ever had and I can't even begin to thank the staff enough for making her birthday so special. They were so friendly and accommodating from start to finish. They even called me as soon as they found my tablet that I'd accidentally left behind in the room, and luckily we were still near enough to return and pick it up. The hotel should be so proud of their enthusiastic and genuinely lovely and welcoming staff, who literally bent over backwards to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. As for the actual building and location, it really cannot be faulted for beauty. If you want to experience Kent at its best, you really need to stay at the Pig. We'll definitely be coming back. Well worth the money and I highly recommend to anyone who loves a nice dose of homely and stylish luxury.
Be the first to ReplyBrilliant weekend!
We stayed with family and friends a couple of weekends ago, and had the most amazing time at The Pig in Bridge place. We stayed in the Hop Picker huts, which were total luxury, pricey but well worth it - felt so secluded as they were tucked away in the grounds away from the main house and had a fire, roll top bath and kingsize bed. The food all weekend was gorgeous - from breakfast (which basically had everything you could ask for), to lunch, to the bar snacks and dinners - I highly recommend the 'piggy fours' for dessert as the fudge is to die for! The hotel house itself dates back to 17th Century, and is full of character and several lounges with fires all cosy and hidden away in different corners. Staff also were excellent, and were always helpful, polite and friendly without being fussy - massive shout out to Louis on reception who really looked after us, and Poppy in the restaurant. My brother and his husband had the 'hot stone' massages in the cute treatment huts and came out saying it 'was the best massage they'd ever had' (this was on saturday 7th Jan in the afternoon so shout out to whoever did their treatments!). We will definitely be back - as we want to see the place in the summer - where we can sit outside on the various terraces :)
Be the first to ReplyCosy winter weekend
We’ve stayed at several Pigs & love them so when a family occasion brought us to Canterbury, Bridge Place was the obvious choice. The bar & restaurant are lovely, the food excellent & we enjoyed several Kent wines. Lodge 1 was fab, super cosy & homely. Our only regret was that we didn’t get to explore the area more but we’ll be making a point of coming back.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful fresh food in a beautiful setting with lovely staff
We had a delicious lunch here in a beautiful setting, and our waiter Marshall was hilarious and brilliant and made the meal even more enjoyable. He had us in hysterics and looked after us very well- a really lovely day out.
Be the first to ReplyGood but latest rates are excessive
We recently returned from a trip to the Pig at Bridge Place. This was our fifth visit to a Pig Hotel. We stayed in one of the lodge rooms which was perfect with a separate children's room, allowing us to enjoy the downstairs after they had gone to bed, and there's a decent amount of grounds for little ones to explore. The restaurant wasn't quite as good as we remembered, with quite a limited menu, though breakfast was excellent, as were the cocktails (there really should be a draught beer option though). Having enjoyed our stay we decided to book for the same time next year and discovered that rates for all rooms had increased by 60% for the week in question, so we didn't bother. Apparently there's a new pricing structure which has a flat rate for the whole year, plus a chunky inflationary increase. At that price it's no longer good value, being comparable to 5 star hotels with air conditioning and better facilities (swimming pool, thermal spa, etc). I read that the Pig Hotel group was sold to private equity investors in April 2022. Coincidence? I really hope one of our favourite hotel chains isn't ruined by corporate greed.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing lunch birthday celebration today
Unfortunately not able to write a good review as the lunch today was so disappointing especially as we were celebrating two birthdays. There were three of us and two of the main courses, pork loin and duck were so tough they were in fact inedible. Desserts a child could have made them. Not up to the standard we expected from reviews and word of mouth. We did enjoy the Bollinger though.
Be the first to ReplyAverage pubfood at top price
Location a 10 out of 10. Service is good. And the food is average pubfood and overpriced. But obviously one goes for the experience, and people are willing to pay accordingly. We had better food at a local pub in Lydden. But it missed the setting
Be the first to ReplyExcellent lunch
A belated but very grateful thank you for a brilliant birthday lunch for our mother in August 2021. We were made very welcome, were given a great table, enjoyed a fantastic lunch and finished with a lovely walk round the kitchen garden. The icing on the cake (literally) was the surprise complimentary birthday puddings. Many thanks to all the staff for their kindness.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
My husband booked this hotel as a birthday treat. The grounds of the hotel were amazing. The welcome was good. The ambience is good and fitting for the style of hotel. It was very disappointing that there was no shower gel in the shower or body cream either upon our arrival or the following day after the housekeepers had attended the room. We had to ask for the bottles to be refilled. I would not expect this for such an expensive hotel. There is no air conditioning and we had to use a fan which was fine in June but I imagine will not be sufficient for warmer months as the windows are very small. The towel heater also stays on all the time making the room hot. The food in the dining room was ok but the meal literally only comes with the main dish and without any sides which have to be ordered separately and are very expensive. My husband ordered a salad that consisted of a bowl of lettuce which presumably was grown in the garden. we were able to sit outside for dinner with heaters although no cushions are provided and the garden chairs become uncomfortable after a while. A cushion would have been welcome. The restaurant inside seemed very busy and noisy so I would not have liked to have sat there, Overall I think the hotel, food and drinks were good but overpriced for what you get. It is very much a hotel geared up for the wealthy mums brigade I think.
Be the first to ReplyLovely summer lunch
A beautiful setting for a summer lunch. Attentive and friendly staff made us feel welcome, without them being fussy. The menu provided interesting, delicious, fresh, locally sourced food. The restaurant was perfect in light and space and we had coffee on the terrace outside which was a lovely way to finish our meal. The only thing that let down the lovely setting was the incorrect use of grammar on some of the signs in the entrance : “WC’s” “treat’s”. Apostrophes used incorrectly give a poor impression.

Fantastic food, wine, service and ambiance at the Pig. Everything surpassed all expectations, with friendly service and a perfect table on the terrace. Great evening that everyone enjoyed. Making initial arrangements was faultless with every request fulfilled. Thank you so much.
Be the first to ReplyLovely get away
A lovely place to celebrate special dates or to have a weekend away. Food is outstanding. Everything fresh, local or self produced. Service was great but Staff could be a bit more attentive. We went on a Monday and it was very busy, I recommend to book in advance
Be the first to ReplyEchoing all previous excellent reviews.
Impeccable service & really Scrummy food. Everything so well organised. Our group of 13 had a ‘Feasting Menu’ & were able to eat outside undercover & adjacent to heaters. They even brought blankets out when it began to get really chilly. I would certainly eat there again. Linda M
Be the first to ReplyAnother Great stay
We had booked a stay here a couple of time last year, but due to covid both were postponed, so this was a long awaited short break.
We had booked into one of the hop picker huts and we were not disappointed, the room impeccable, nice welcome back note, using first names.
The room is large with a separate shower and loo but with a feature free standing bath in the bedroom. I still have never used the bath but the shower is a true monsoon shower.
In the room there is a fridge, with fresh milk, biscuits and tea and coffee making facilities are available (although only two EBT tea bags]
DAB radio and TV so everything you could ask for.
Very comfortable bed, with some very good feather free pillows (available on request) and because of our allergies the cushions on the settee were removed to ensure no reactions.
Only criticism, as with all Pig hotels breakfast is extra,£13.59 each for the breakfast table, and an extra £5 each for cooked which give the cost of the rooms it is a bit of a cheek but given their occupancy rates people are happy to pay it.
Would we go back, well yes it has already been booked
Delayed anniversary celebration
We have just had our delayed Ruby wedding celebration at The Pig. Delayed by two years due to lockdown! From the moment we arrived ŵe felt welcome. Our room was lovely and comfortable. The meals we had were delicious with excellent service. A complimentary glass of sparkling wine kicked of our celebratory meal and a delicious and imaginatively created Ruby wedding desert ended the meal. Thank you all for helping us make the anniversary so special.
Be the first to ReplySimply outstanding. 5 stars doesn't do it justice.
I can't praise this place enough. We've eaten here several times, and have now stayed for the second time, this time in one of their hop picker huts. What can I say? You're met on arrival by the most amazing staff, always smiling, courteous and efficient. Nothing is ever too much trouble for this team. Lunch was excellent and as for the huts... Simply outstanding. Every need is met and everywhere is immaculate all the time. The place just never disappoints. We'll done.
Be the first to ReplyLovely but could be better for the price
The food was outstanding. Everything about it was perfect. Deft worth the price. Our waitress was super lovely and very attentive. However, we came in at 2:30 for our lunchtime booking and it seemed our waitress went on break shortly after our main meal. After that I have to the service went down. The few staff left seemed to have forgotten about us. We had to ask for more drinks and dessert menus and then a 20 minute wait to order desert and we where one of four tables left! For paying these prices I would expect better service throughout the whole meal. To end on a better note, I have nut allergy and the management and our waitress where very careful and attentive about it. Just such a shame that some other members of staff weren’t as attentive as our waitress.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful place. Exceptional staff. Fabulous food and drink
What a beautiful Pig. We have been lucky enough to stay in all The Pigs. This one was particularly special. The house is stunning. Impeccable decor and styling as always with Wonderful food and cocktails.
The staff were all so welcoming and made my birthday one to remember. So hospitable and friendly. We can’t wait to go back again.
