The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad Reviews from The Last Year
Modern luxury in the heart NYC’s most vibrant neighborhood!
We spent Saturday night at the Nomad Ritz Carlton for my wife’s birthday. It’s everything you expect and more from a modern luxury hotel. Everyone who works there is professional and made us feel welcome and special. We’d like to give a big thanks to Claudia for all that she did to recognize my wife’s birthday and make our visit there a memorable one. Joy the concierge was also very helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful. Lobby bar is classy and inviting and surprisingly not ridiculously expensive. The rooftop bar Nubeluz has phenomenal views. We had after dinner drinks there and definitely a wow factor. Rooms are super clean, well appointed, have a great city view and comfy seating area by the floor to ceiling windows. Overall a great stay and nearby is Chelsea, the Highline, Hudson Yards and SoHo. We look forward to returning.
Disappointing Lack of Resolution: Ritz Carlton NoMad's VIP Treatment Falls Flat
Our recent experience at The Ritz Carlton NoMad left us not only shocked but deeply disappointed in the lack of resolution and accountability displayed by the management team. After investing significant resources in hosting an event at Nubeluz, an establishment within the Ritz Carlton property, our evening took a distressing turn when we encountered blatant verbal harassment and racial profiling by the hotel's security personnel. On the rainy evening of April 2nd in NYC, myself and two of our team members, including a person of color, were subjected to unwarranted interrogation and hostility while simply waiting for our Uber outside the hotel entrance. Despite being under the watchful gaze of security cameras, the security staff aggressively approached us, questioning our presence and accusing us of unauthorized use of hotel property. The intensity of their tone and demeanor was alarming, drawing the attention of other guests of both the hotel and of prominent media who were guests of our event who witnessed the distressing exchange and came over to ask if we were ok. Even more disheartening was the dismissive response from hotel management, who not only failed to address the situation with seriousness but also callously laughed off our concerns. Promises of follow-up and investigation were made, but to our dismay, they turned out to be empty assurances. Despite repeated attempts to seek resolution, including reaching out to the General Manager, Bastian Germer, we have received no apology, no acknowledgment of our ordeal, and no resolution. The lack of accountability displayed by The Ritz Carlton NoMad is not an isolated incident. A quick search on review platforms like TripAdvisor, Google, and Yelp reveals numerous similar complaints of guests being harassed and intimidated by hotel security. As individuals working in media, we understand the importance of reputation, yet it seems this concept holds little value to the management of The Ritz Carlton NoMad. The VIP treatment we expected from such a prestigious establishment has been replaced with disappointment and disgust. In conclusion, our experience at The Ritz Carlton NoMad has tarnished our perception of the brand irreparably. Until genuine efforts are made to address issues of discrimination and mistreatment, we cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to others.
Stay far far away.
You have been warned! Unprofessional service, extremely rude and poor staff from the moment you walk in from the host, servers, and even bartenders. I never expected the Ritz in nyc to be a faux coat with the cost of a real one. This location is utterly disgusting with the amount of arrogance and disrespect oozing out of people hired there. Really pathetic attitudes towards clients and I overheard the workers there gossiping and calling people degrading names. Such lousy performance from the Ritz. The workers think they own the place because they put on staff uniforms, such a joke. I felt extremely embarrassed and had to apologize to my high profile clients for suggesting them the Ritz in Nomad.
Perfection…
First time at the Nomad and it did not disappoint. Usually stay at one of the Conrad locations as they are all suites so it’s great to have the space. Booked here and my Suite Night Awards cleared so got a handsome upgrade which helped set the stage. Club level is world class and the offering is the best I have seen, including the RC’s in Asia. Highly recommend the splurge for the f & b, the views and more importantly the service. Can’s single out anyone as they were all wonderful. Gym is fine, lobby is understated and the bell guys do a great job of welcoming you in. Will be back for sure!
great quick dinner experience in a nice setting
ate at the Mediterranean restaurant on the ground floor, exceptional: great service, great menu choice, great layout and decor
Room for improvement
Overall, my stay at this property was great. The space is beautiful, most everyone is friendly (especially the entire team working in the spa, such as the front desk, cleaning, and masseuses) and requests were usually fulfilled quickly. The area where I would dock the team down a star is how guests are treated. With my experience specifically, I experienced a not-so-micro-aggression when my friend and I were walking through the lobby. I then escalated this to guest relations, a woman named Tess (I think?) who thanked me for the feedback and credited my room with credit to use on the property. While I appreciate the gesture, I really want to emphasize that this should really be a learning opportunity for the entire team at NoMad and other Ritz properties. The woman I escalated this to had highlighted that the individual who made the comment was not directly employed with the Ritz, but that should not matter. All individuals working for the property should be treated as a team; you do not accept praise about employees when they’ve done well but then disown them when they’ve made a mistake. I don’t blame the employee for making this presumably well-intended comment, as it’s possible they have not had an opportunity to understand their actions until now. I really believe that this should be on the property and experience managers as they sit much higher up and have a much bigger influence on how the property should be run. I can only hope the team truly tries to invest in DEI training for all employees and also hope that handing out credit and freebies does not rectify these sorts of actions. Unfortunately, this happened the morning of checkout so it’s left quite a sour taste in my mouth and now overshadows the rest of my stay here.
They damaged my car while we were there. Promised that they would fix it and now won’t respond to us.
My car was damaged with the valet and no one will get back to us. We have all the proof they asked for and gave them time to investigate but they won’t reimburse us or even call us back at this point. Very poor customer service. We are very frustrated
Fabulous 4 nights in NYC
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 4 nights here. A stunning brand new hotel with all the luxuries we had hoped for. Fabulous service (thank you Dan) and a beautiful room with the best view. Loved the bathroom, bath ammenities , robe and minibar. Highly recommend hotel in a great location.
Perfection!
Sleek, modern, luxurious are all ways to describe The Ritz-Carlton, NoMad. Break-taking views paired with unparalleled service makes this hotel undoubtedly the top of NYC’s luxury market. The dining is great, club is relaxing and an oasis, and the entire team from doorman to front desk to housekeeping to the club lounge exude hospitality at the highest levels. This is a destination within a destination city!

This place was very convenient to everything! It was a few blocks from the Empire State Building, K-town, Madison Square park and more! It was a beautiful stay and the suites were very spacious and had stunning views. I will say it was definitely an experience and a classy stay! Would recommend!
Pure Manhattan Luxury
Fantastic, luxurious experience at the Ritz Nomad. We had a room on the 26th Floor with an amazing view of Lower Manhattan. The best part of this hotel is the service. The staff to guest ratio is very high and there was always a friendly person to assist. In particular, Ronnie was delightful and very helpful. She even suggested the house car to assist with transportation. The gentlemen at the door were always welcoming. Treat yourself to the tasting menu at Bazaar. It is well worth the money, I can’t wait to return.
This place.
.. the lobby is already cosy and so very well taken care of. The staff is really attentive and well trained. The drinks are good at the beautiful bar downstairs but wait until you get upstairs to see the Nubeluz. It's mindblowing. The setting, the light... I sat on the bar and couldn't believe this is real. I guess this is the perfect spot for a romantic night out. MUST GO!

This is now my second time staying at the Ritz Carlton in Nomad and I absolutely loved it. Great location great service and the roof top bar is amazing. Special shout out to Joy & John the concierge they were amazing and helped me get dinner reservations. Also the service was top notch and appreciated the beautiful cupcake and champagne for my friends bday
Loveddd the new Flagship Ritz Carlton.
What an incredible and beautiful property. They partnered with Jose Andres for all their food and beverage outlets, the food was excellent property wide. The hospitality from everyone was superb. The house car was clean and I cannot remember the drivers name to save my life, but he was wonderful. Derrick at the door was also a gem in a haystack. I slept so good as the room was the perfect temperature, the bed was comfy and it was silent. I can't wait to come back to the city and I will definitely choose the Ritz Nomad for another well nights rest.
Absolute pinnacle of modern luxury, yet a distant experience
Very expensive, very dimly lit, very posh. Small rooms, yet great bathroom and bed. The Club very much worth it, with great staff and versatile fare, both food and drinks. Yet at 1800 dollars a night everything should be fabolous, right? I was very impressed by it all and that's why I went: the experience what this hotel can offer. Yet, I doubt I would go again, simply because I was not made feel special in any other part or aspect than the club and that you can replicate with plenty of other establishments.
Great hotel!
This place was incredible. The room was well appointed with a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was incredible. I'm 5'6" and I was able to lay almost flat in the bathtub. We stayed in a room on a high floor and the view was just amazing. We didn't close the curtains once just so we could see out! I was here on business and we used the meeting rooms and catering and both were also fantastic. The hotel is really beautiful and in a convenient location. Staff was incredibly attentive and kind. Looking forward to staying here again some day!
New and Vibrant Ritz-Carlton NoMad
I had stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Nomad several times during my short trips to NYC. I definitely enjoyed this hotel location. The rooms are spacious and modern, which I love about the hotel and used it every time I stayed here. At the high floor, the views are amazing. I had drinks at the bar/lounge downstairs on multiple occasions and truly enjoyed it. However, it could be busy on the weekends as NY people did come here for drinks and be seen before they dispersed to other places around town. If you stayed in the hotel, the staff would do their best to accommodates.
Not a real Ritz Carlton yet
This is more like a Ritz Residence without kitchen instead of a real Ritz Carlton. The service was VERY different between staff and staff. Some staffs don’t have good attitude and even a little bit rude. But some staffs were very professional and friendly. They don’t really have a lobby area: they put front desk and concierge into a very small area at the first floor immediately after you get into the hotel, which is not what a 5-star hotel will do. Space are very limited in general including the room. Toothbrush and hair dryer is the very cheap version. The good thing is room is very new and the view is charming. This is the reason why I give 4 out of 5 rating.
Horrendous Front Desk Staff
Having stayed in Ritz hotels all over the world for decades, Barbara at the front desk of this hotel is the single rudest, most thoughtless employee I’ve ever encountered at any Ritz property. Rude, difficult, unable and unwilling to help with even the smallest issue, this person is everything the Ritz brand is not. Three times within the space of an hour I had to take the simplest request to her manager, who was as graceful and helpful as he could be given the obvious fact that Barbara is apparently a constant subject of guest complaints. If for no other reason than to avoid dealing with this oddly unpleasant individual, my family and I will never be back to this hotel. For now, I’ll add my review to the growing list of TripAdvisors complaining about the bizarrely low-quality staff at this otherwise beautiful new property.
Terrible service, rude staff
Great location. The worst staff I have ever experienced at a Ritz. Every person we encountered, from check in to the staff at the rooftop bar were rude and not at all welcoming. The roof top bar was empty so we walked in and sat down and they told us we had to leave because we didn't have a reservation. So we sat at the bar and waiting 20 minutes and still were not served. We checked in at 11PM and asked for a 1pm checkout. I am lifetime platinum elite and they couldn't t give me a 1PM checkout. They women at check in didn't even look. I did not experience one nice person who worked there. My daughter's apartment is nearby so i figured this is a good place for my wife and i to stay when we visit her. Very bad decision, back to the St. Regis, where i will say the service is exceptional. I think the Ritz Nomad should be great, nice location, decent amenities, but the staff ruins it. Maybe if they replaced the manager and did better training we would return. This is the first time i ever had a bad experience at a Ritz, which I stay in several nights a year throughout the world quite frequently.
Rude, nasty staff from the top to the bottom.
Nasty attitudes . Mean on the phone too (when you get to speak to an actual human) .

While I usually refrain from leaving negative reviews, my recent experience at this Ritz-Carlton has left me quite disappointed. As a loyal Titanium member of Marriott, I've frequented various Ritz locations and 5-star hotels globally. Though I'm understanding about room upgrades, the delay in the manager's response - three days - was concerning. More so, despite my wife's pregnancy and our repeated room service requests for a well-done meal, it consistently arrived undercooked. Definitely safety issues here. A particular incident where I was mistaken for an Uber Eats driver when asking for water was disheartening. As a doctor and a successful entrepreneur with 8 figure annual revenue businesses, being misjudged due to my appearance felt disrespectful. Moreover, our key cards malfunctioned, including the mobile app key, requiring three security calls for resolution. Considering the Ritz's premium pricing, I expected a superior and luxurious experience. The service fell below par, leaving me hoping for improved staff training. I'm disheartened by the possibility of any discriminatory behavior.
Disappointing Experience at Ritz Carlton NoMad - Far Below
Disappointing Experience at Ritz Carlton NoMad - Far Below Expected Standards As a family of five, we recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton NoMad for a three-night family reunion and birthday celebration. We are Marriott Bonvoy Gold Members and have stayed in over ten Ritz Carlton properties through the Amex find hotels program. Our experience at this particular property, however, was deeply disappointing and distressing. From the onset, we faced unwarranted suspicion and disrespect, particularly from a security guard named Edward Hanes. He followed us from the entrance to our rooms, scrutinizing us as if we were not legitimate guests, despite our confirmed bookings. His unprofessional conduct continued in the lobby, where he made us feel unwelcome and repeatedly questioned our guest status. The mistreatment extended to my three adult children, who were confronted by the same security guard and rudely told to leave the lobby, a public space, with no justification. This confrontation occurred under the watch of other hotel employees, who did not intervene. The following day, another hotel employee instructed us to leave the lobby unless we were purchasing something from the restaurant. This directive was inconsistent and seemingly discriminatory, as other guests were allowed to remain without question. Moreover, my wife was approached and told to turn off her phone under the mistaken belief she was taking pictures, even though she was simply making a phone call. This incident further highlights the targeted and disrespectful treatment we received during our stay. In addition to these negative interactions, we discovered unsanitary conditions under the mattress in our room, which appeared to be urine stains. We reported this to the hotel, but it was just another in a series of disappointments. We chose the Ritz Carlton for its reputation for luxury and exemplary service, expecting a special experience in line with the premium price of $2000 per night per room. Unfortunately, our experience was far from luxurious or respectful. Instead, we were made to feel like second-class guests, unwelcome and disrespected. This stay at the Ritz Carlton NoMad was not only a letdown but also an upsetting experience, leading us to reconsider our loyalty to the brand. We hope this feedback prompts the hotel to reevaluate its customer service and treatment of guests to ensure no one else experiences what we did.
This place is a breath of fresh air.
As avid travelers my man and I were just talking about our fave hotel/staff being The peninsula in Tokyo until we came here for a quick getaway. From the lively, genuine greeting when arriving to the most professional, yet, extremely nice gentlemen that checked us in-Matthew! He was attentive and gave us a beautiful skyline room for our anniversary. He not only acknowledged our anniversary but also complimented us as a couple. Who doesn't like compliments?! And now let me tell you about their amazing concierge. These guys know what they are talking about. Based on answers to a few questions they had amazing itineraries for our stay. They were hip and up to date on what's going on in the city. The hotel has a couple restaurants to choose from that have an upbeat ambiance. The rooftop lounge is a beautiful backdrop for a romantic sunset drink and some photos to frame. We had to know who manages such an extremely run operation at this particular property. The answer is Carla Carvalho, the guest relations manager. We met her and automatically knew she was a rockstar. She was giving out lemonade and had a wonderful aura about her. You can tell she is an experienced manager with a gift of hiring and training awesome people. This is a cohesive team with good synergy. I'm not sure why this place only has 3 1/2 stars don't snooze check this place out. Definitely a 5 star hotel and this is from a couple that travel 5 months out of the year.
What a beautiful hotel! Service is impeccable from being
What a beautiful hotel! Service is impeccable from being greeted at the entrance to the special touches from housekeeping thank you Monika and Lhadoh for making his birthday's celebration that much more special. You have got to try the small bites and cocktails in Nobeluz you will not be disappointed!!
My favorite place to stay when traveling is the RITZ!
My favorite place to stay when traveling is the RITZ! Halfmoon Bay has one of the most outstanding RITZ around besides Kapalua , Hawaii. And now Nomad, Nomad is off the beaten path, staff could be kinder to those that want to get to the rooftop, especially locals. Rooftop is SUPERB once you're there, but ladies that get you there should be kinder and dressed into something that fits them. Many don't look comfortable in the gold dresses! Dining experience is outstanding - this RITZ comes below the typical RITZ as it needs a lot of improvement as they just opened. Its not your typical RITZ experience, hopefully they get it up there. And would recommend to all to see ROOFTOP!
