The Village Pub Woodside Reviews from The Last Year
A pub burger and Bâtard Montrachet.
nothing better!! The wine list is like a phone book. Very extensive, impressive and delicious. on any given night there's 3 to 5 wine sommeliers to assist in the perfect selection. The food is equally impressive. Great service/staff.

The restaurant goes above and beyond in both food and service. We try to eat at the Bar, because it's less expensive, and we enjoy Chris who usually works Wednesdays and Sundays. Larry of Redwood City

Lovely, cozy atmosphere, great food and wine service, and very well executed food. Very nice wine list. One small hiccup ... martini I ordered hadn't come by the time the wine service started. Nice plate of amuse bouches to start. The Dungeness crab risotto was perfectly cooked ... al dente with right amount of moisture/sauce. Bouillon to make the sauce, for me, was just a touch too rich (and I didn't get much of the saffron or fennel mentioned on the menu). Could have used a bit of a subtle foil, like dots of saba or something else acidic. A5 Wagyu rib eye was outstanding and perfectly cooked to medium rare ... I don't eat mushrooms and it comes with a sauce forestiere, so they served it without sauce and a marsala sauce on the side. Did not need or eat the sauce as the meat was supremely outstanding on its own and with the roasted cippolinis. The potato mille-feuille was dry. My husband and our friends loved their Dungeness bisque, lobster vol-au-vent, and honey pistachio glazed duck breast. Desserts were fine, but not as good as the first and second courses. The chocolate souffle was too dense in the middle for my liking. The madeleines which come after dessert are quite large ... too much food ... no one ate them. Mignardises were nice little bites to end the night.

Hosted a team dinner in the private room and I don't know if this review could every describe how AMAZING the service was, Suzanna, Mary and the team were warm, attentive and constantly moving. Nothing was ever not filled, ad hoc requests were quickly fulfilled and I didn't of a single negative comment and there were 37 of us! Food was amazing, the passed hors d'oeuvres were simple and very flavorful, the tuna tartare and the little chip w/the crème and caviar were well balanced. We had folks that had dietary restrictions and Suzanna was making sure their needs were well taken care of. I shared bites with a co-worker because we couldn't make up our minds on the entrée, they opted for the scallop and I had the duck, both were fantastic! The desserts were decadent and the crab bisque for the starter was what everyone raved about! Would highly recommend to anyone for personal or business dinners. Thank YOU! Props to Palmer, Elle, Alex & George too!

This place is a gem, a bit off the beaten track, with a wonderful menu. Perfect for special clients or friends, expensive but great value considering the quality of food and service. The menu changes, so check ahead but everything I've had, every tine, has been wonderful. DON'T forget to leave a little room for beignets!!!
Lovely evening on the patio at VP.
Seating was comfortable and the patio heaters kept us warm. Everyone was friendly and helpful in running through the menu. The star of the show was the food!! Delicious flavors, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully timed. I tried the panzotti and it was well balanced and brought me back to tastes of Italy. The plates explore flavors of nuttiness, bitter, and savory. I enjoyed every bite. The portions were generous and left nothing to be desired. I've been to their sister restaurants and by far VP is my favorite for ambiance and food. It was also nice seeing salt and pepper, beautifully presented, on the table to accommodate preferences. That was a nice touch. We did not receive the amuse bouche and mignardises and I think this must have been an oversight. I did not even realize they were missing until I saw another table served. Even though we did not experience the full menu, I left feeling satisfied and happy with everything we experienced. I will definitely be back to try their brunch menu and other dishes!
This review is more for myself as I like to keep tabs on
This review is more for myself as I like to keep tabs on certain restaurants I have on a "to try" list. Of the many Michelin rated spots we've tried this one didn't quite measure up. The service, ambiance, and wine list were definitely top-notch. However, the food which is the most important aspect for us, seemed to be hit or miss. The fennel and coriander crusted tuna was wonderful and somewhat unique, the beet and citrus salad was boring and tiny. The supplemental ribeye was nice and prepared well, the duck on the other hand was terrible. The duck was tough, it was not enjoyable to eat...there was a nice mandarin sauce to accompany it as well as a wonderfully flavorful farro, however besides the poor quality meat they laid one single mandarin segment on top of each round of duck breast, it was so odd and out of place. Chocolate soufflé was good, the mille-feuille was not very good. Not sure we'll return.
First, a shoutout to Bill K.
for being the sweetest, most attentive server I have ever met! My husband and I dined at The Village Pub tonight, to celebrate my 1 year of being Cancer free. Super friendly, caring staff took care of everything. Our server, Bill, took the time to explain each portion of the menu, giving his recommendations in each area (salads, entrees). He answered all our questions, as this was our first time dining at this restaurant. We could not have asked better service. All dishes came out promptly, no issues whatsoever, everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered: Ruby Red Beet & Winter Citrus Salad (no pic, sorry) Warren Pear & Belgian Endive Salad (no pic, sorry) Maine Lobster Vol-au-vent Applewood Grilled Brandt Ranch Ribeye Dessert: Madeleines Chai-spiced Cake Beignets We also received an Almond Macaroon as a free treat in honor of our celebration! Many thanks to The Village Pub staff, you definitely made our night a memorable one. We cannot wait to come back!
This place is very special.
l always receive outstanding service with all great, great wait staff. All the food is consistently delicious. The ambiance is lovely! They greet you with a warm welcome. Bathrooms always clean. Bit on pricey side depending on what you order. I'd come here real often if I could afford it :) thanks Village Pub! and their sister restaurants Spruce and Selby's are also great!
Top marks for food, service and ambience.
If you're looking for an off the beaten path for a lovely meal, this is your place.

One of the nicest place in Woodside. It's known for its upscale dining experience and offers a menu featuring a variety of contemporary American and California cuisine. The Village Pub in Woodside is well-regarded for its elegant ambiance, extensive wine list, and exceptional service. It's a popular destination for special occasions, romantic dinners, and those looking to enjoy fine dining in a picturesque setting. It makes great choice for celebrating special occasions or just a quiet romantic date night! ❤️
