Thursday Kitchen Review
My initial impression of this place was walking by on a week night and seeing it packed, so I took a mental picture. A few weeks later on a cold rainy night straight out of a Charles Dickens novel, the homie suggests we take try this spot for dinner. Easy call. They don't take reservations so we show up and are told the wait is a bout 20 minutes. We opt to wait outside under some cover outside of the restaurant. I for one marvel at the beautiful violence of rain. It fell heavily and effortlessly with no meaning or purpose but the fulfillment of its own nature, which was to fall and fall. To appreciate the sun you have to know what rain is. Anyways, they texted us when our table was ready. We sat down right next to a fire place in the back of the restaurant. I guess the thing here is to try a drink that they serve out of a capri sun pouch or something? Typically, I'll try anything once just for the culture but I looked around, and seeing other customers drinking out of little lit up plastic bags did not inspire me. I got the pinot. The homie pointed out that "I love that they serve wine out of glasses that they shouldn't be serving wine out of." Okay I shouldn't have put that in quotes as I was paraphrasing, but she said something like that. I'm not sure why but I really felt that in my soul. Glassware out of left field is such an elite touch. For food we got the edamame dumplings, steak, lucky noodles, soft shell crab, and popcorn chicken. I'd say the highlight of the meal was the popcorn chicken and edamame dumplings. I had never had edamame dumplings in my life, but the combination of soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, honey and chili sauce was just the right blend of sweet, savory and spicy. Overall, this place was very good but a bit pricey for the small portions. I'd say a bit overhyped, but if you come in with no expectations it would be phenomenal. Expectations are the root of all heartache. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

We go out for meals quite a bit and I do not want to cook everyday and love trying new cuisine. Thursday is a few block from our home and worth trying when looking at the menu. Letโs talk about the good: - attentive service - inform about the size of their dishes - Very Good โSteakโ and โKimchi Paellaโ no matter size and taste. Disappointing: - โTuna Tacoโ: too spicy and cannot tell the quality of the raw tuna - โPopcorn Chickenโ batter is slightly too thick and more Sesame Chicken rather than Korean Chickenโฆ - โLucky Noodleโ: Even though meat and noodle balance is good, too much bottled โGarlic Blackbeanโ sauce as I even know the brand was using as I believed. It is a place for drinks and unique (not have to be good) food. The chef is talented but some dishes really money driven.
Be the first to ReplyOur best food experience in NYC so far!
My girlfriend and I moved to East Village a month ago and have been trying a lot of great places already, but the Thursday Kitchen is by far the best experience so far! The service was good, the drinks were good (they serve Sapporo beer, which is my all time favorite) and the food was absolutely amazing. We asked the waiter how many courses he would recommend which was five. So we ordered 5 different courses and the only thing that was disappointing was that we couldnโt eat more - every course were amazing. But especially the truffle Macโnโcheeseโฆ my god it was good๐คค So much value for money! We ended up paying $175 (incl 20% tip) for five courses + a shared dessert, 4 beers and 3 cocktails. We were both totally full and tipsy when we left - whatโs not to like! We are definitely getting back to try the rest of the courses and I would recommend everyone to go!

All of the food we tried was beyond delicious. The menu is small but every option is perfectly crafted. The workers are kind and attentive. Come here!!

The dining experience at Thursday Kitchen came across as pretentious. The fusion of Korean and Latin American flavors seemed forced and lacked authenticity. While the presentation of the dishes was visually appealing, the flavors didn't live up to the hype. The menu felt overcomplicated, with overly elaborate descriptions that overshadowed the actual taste. The portion sizes were small and the prices were inflated for what was ultimately an underwhelming culinary experience. Overall, Thursday Kitchen seemed more focused on style and trendiness rather than delivering truly exceptional and satisfying food.

Thursday Kitchen has been on my bucket list for a while now and Iโm so glad I finally went. The fusion style dishes really shined and were filling. The restaurant atmosphere itself added to the overall appeal. Will definitely be back to try the remainder of the menu since all the dishes sounded appealing.

Amazing experience in Thursday's kitchen! Went with some friends. Everything was top notch! The waitress was incredibly sweet, friendly and helpful when she greeted us. The food was appetizing, just delicious. Every dish we shared was unique. The glowing drinks were great too. Can't wait to return!

Went on a Thursday around 7. Had a 35 minute wait but no real place for waiting. Young, vibrant crowd (ie. noisy and crowded). Line of 3 to 4 people for a single bathroom all night (felt bad for the table next to the bathroom line). Two of us shared 5 plates and one drink for $100 and didnโt quite feel full. Food was not bad but was not spectacular. Left a little disappointed.

Loved this place. Not sure it is exactly Korean food with a twist - I think the French and Spanish influences are stronger. But it was all so good. Favourites were the Lucky Noodles and Kimchi Paella. The popcorn ice cream was amazing too. It was super busy and had a great vibe. Great service too.
Be the first to ReplyGood food but nobody needs a smug rude waitress!
The food was good. If I just wanted good food I would have made it myself and kept 3 of the $400 I spent here on dinner. We were sat as a table of six out on the patio in front of the restaurant. So far great. Then the waitress came over and the crap show began. First thing she says is โeveryone should order at once as any additional food will take 45 minutes. Lie to turn over the table quicker. โWhat do you want to drink? I ask her about the IPA and she looks at me like I asked her to solve for pi. Stares at me without a smile or saying anything and that was as nice as she got. When the food was still on our table she comes over and says that people are waiting for the table and can we hurry up? I then ask if the tip is included and we get our first and last sarcastic smile. Do you want to be served by your entitled team age daughter? Why be like that to people and work in the restaurant business? Smug, and rude. Just what I want to experience when I am paying $400 for $50 worth of food. The food was good but you can get that anywhere.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent korean food.
Good food. Fun korean spot, with great cocktail. Come early to score a table. Main concern is that they will ask you to vacate your table asap, so if you want to chat over cocktails after desserts have arrives, youโll be out of luck. Ohโฆ and get the truffle mac&cheese. Or maybe two.

Stumbled upon this place by chance and am so glad I did. Some of the most surprising and delicious food I have ever eaten, fantastic service and a lovely location. Would whole heartedly recommend to anyone!

Great food. Hip aesthetic. Delightful staff. This is such a cool Asian fusion spot that deserves your consideration. The menu ingredients are unique and taste fresh. Cool spot for couples, friends, or even a date!

Amazing, consistent, delicious. The food is out of the world and the service is perfect. We have tried multiples dishes and non of them were disappointing. They donโt take reservations so be prepared to wait at least 2 hours on weekends and 1 hr on weekdays but let me tell you, WORTH EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF WAITING. My fav restaurant in NYC:

The food which is Korean fusion tapas were delicious and fun to share. Service was great and very nice. I love the ambiance here to meetup some friends and have a good time. Definitely get the cocktails in the little capri-sun looking bags! They are delicious, pretty and definitely addictive. Place can get crowded so be prepared for a wait.

Best of the best !! This is one of the best restaurants in New York! I wish them all the best, health and success this year. I hope anyone reading this will give them a chance. They serve taps style Asian American fusion. Highlights are the juicy.. tender.. marinated steak, the edamame vegetarian dumplings, the clam Mac and cheese. The deserts are delightful too!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Food! Flavors
Outstanding Food! Flavors and ambiance! NO RESERVATIONS! Saturdays get there at 5:30 so you can get in with the 1st group! Tapas are to die for! Once inside you will enjoy nice lounge music! Servers are busy but will never make you feel rushed! All dishes are great! Ask for 2.5 portions per person or you will be hungry at the end! Everything is delicious! Steak, Mac and Cheese with truffles and duck empanadas are a NO miss! Draft Sapporo for $4.00 isnโt bad and bottles of wine are decent price. It is a gem I. The NYU area!
Be the first to ReplyKorean food - Tapas style.
Korean food - Tapas style. They have taken the strong flavored Korean food and given it a modern touch. Their dishes are Korean but creative. The spice has a little kick but is not overwhelming. Their drinks (cocktails) have an interesting concept. They are served in plastic bags with glowing ice cube in between.
It is a popular place, so it has a wait. They do not take reservations.
Why Thursday?
My partner wanted to visit this restaurant, however I was unsure from looking at the menu, but we decided to go on a Thursday evening. It was busy when we arrived, therefore we recieved a message when a table was available.
We ordered 6 dishes... I recommend the steak and chicken popcorn which where delicious. The food was amazing, service excellent and staff very attentive, with a fantastic atmosphere in the restaurant.
Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Outstanding food at very reasonable prices
Outstanding food at very reasonable prices! Loved the variety of small dishes. The dumplings and noodles are outstanding. Small restaurant, close seating and quite noisy. But a very trendy place. Expect a long wait!

Came here with group of 5 people, we ordered every single item on rhe menu.
Every dish was good, personal favorites:
1) usda prime filet - better than wagyu
2) seafood paella
3) truffle Mac
4) gnocchi - ordered twice
As a frequent Michelin star diner, this restaurant deserves 1 star in my view.
In addition, it was very inexpensive for everything we had - Iโll be back.

Very good restaurant, great ingredients, & nicely prepared, but be ready for running commentary by wait staff on foods using expressions like: This is my personal favoriteโ โThe chef went to FILL IN THE BLANK and discovered this recipe,โ Downsides: NoNooononlinrline

Thursday is a combination of Korean cooking with French and Spanish influences to serve tapas-style plates (such as paella with caramelized kimchi) at this East Village neighborhood spot. Glowing cocktails served in clear squeeze-pouches add to the playful vibe, making it clear why these quirky, highly Instagrammable Korean comfort dishes pack in the crowds.
Among the edible highlights are Edamame truffle oil dumplings, kimchi paella with parmesan, gnocchi in a chili pepper sauce and eel tacos dressed in chipotle samjang salsa. Also worth mentioning the sweet potato fries with sriracha goat cheese, beet-cured salmon sushi and obviously the Alcoholic light-up Capri Suns (super cute!!)
The drinks here are limited to wine, beer, sake, and soju, which, by the way, is what those alcoholic light-up Capri Suns are filled with (they are a little on the sweet side). The Soju cocktails arrive in plastic packages that conjure memories of Capri Sun juice drinks, amped up with booze and a glowing ice cube.
Donโt miss the โAngry Sweet Potatoโ - Essentially sweet potato fries with an enjoyable Sriracha goat cheese dip. Order this over the Ugly Potato, which comes covered in BBQ sauce and American cheese โ not your typical Korean dish but oh, so delicious! One of my favorites is the Crispy Korean fried chicken with a sweet and spicy sauce
Service is friendly an very attentive no matter how busy they always are. Bottom line is if youโre looking for a restaurant thatโs fun and affordable you might have found your match! Great date or girls night out spot!
