Overall a yummy place to go if you're craving Szechuan
Overall a yummy place to go if you're craving Szechuan food! Most of the dishes we ordered had a slight kick to it but it was a pleasant kind of spice. It lingered in the mouth and had me reaching for the water but didn't churn my stomach like certain spicy foods. We ordered the pork belly hot & spicy dry pot, cumin lamb stir fry, string beans, fried rice, fish with tofu in peppercorn broth among other things. Personally I wasn't a fan of the dry pot. It was a little dry, as maybe the name implied, and a bit salty. It wasn't bad but I preferred the cumin lamb to it which was flavorful and tender. The fried rice was not too salty and was good to balance out the strong flavors of the entrees we ordered. I really enjoyed the fish in broth. The fish was flaky and soft and the broth was rich. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and there weren't too many people in the restaurant. It was relatively quiet and the service was good.

I picked up my order just minutes after my order was placed near the restaurant's opening hour. Just simple three dishes and they were all carefully packaged. Unfortunately when I got home, one of the three dishes was incorrect. The correct dish was printed on the label but they had packaged the wrong food. It made one of my family member quite disappointed and that's the reason for the two star review. I would've placed at least a four stars review based on the food and packaging had everything gone right.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite restaurant of all time.
Absolutely amazing, especially if you're a fan of spicy food. I eat here at least 2-3x a month, and it is always worth it. My favorites are the Chongqing La Zi Ji and the Salted Duck Egg Green beans. Super authentic Sichuan food. The service is always fantastic!
Be the first to ReplyYummmmyyyyy.
Yumm yum yumm yum. It is very yummy. Even if it gets busy the wait times are not very long and most importantly the food is very very yummy
Be the first to ReplyTasty authentic Schezuan food.
I love the Cilantro beef and shredded pork dish. They have decreased the amount of scheggiando peppercorns and is now more approachable for the uninitiated.

If you are looking for American style Chinese food, you will not get too much of that here. I was intrigued by the menu because there were many items that I did not recognize on there. I played it safe and ordered the kung pao chicken and fried potstickers. Both were disappointments. The potstickers were straight from the Costco frozen section, then deep fried. The kung pao here was very strange to me. What I did like was the amount. There was a ton of it and the meat was very tender. But that's all the good I could say. I have never had a kung pao chicken be so sweet. I was almost convinced I ordered teriyaki. The spice comes from schezwan peppers so you get the signature numbing sensation the more you eat. I don't have a sensitive palet, but it seemed like they put a ton of pepper in it. My mouth was so numb when I was finished, I could barely keep the saliva in my mouth. It felt like I just got a root canal. I didn't take the rest home because it would have went strait to the trash. Also, I noticed, while I was there that the servers seemed to only be nice to those who spoke Chinese. The server was not too kind to me while I was there. For sure won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyVinegar black fungus and cucumbers to start.
Sichuan spicy prawns and frog to finish. Love the numbing spicy mala flavors. Brings back so many great memories of living and dining on Chinese special dishes when living in China. Yay! Try it.
Be the first to ReplyI should preface this by saying I'm not Chinese.
However I did live in China for almost all of the 1980s. I've been to Sichuan many times and recall many wonderful meals there. My go to restaurant for 川菜 or Sichuanese food up until the pandemic had been Sichuanese Cuisine, or 老四川, the one in Bellevue. Unfortunately the only time I've been back there since the pandemic their food was not very good. Everything seemed to have only one flavor. A few days ago we decided to try Tianfu. As unhappy as I was with the place in Bellevue, I disliked this place even more. However I must admit that there were quite a few Chinese people eating there. So take your chances if you decide to go there. I won't be going back.

There is so much potential in this restaurant but unfortunately the food is not as good as I expected. The place is spacious and I really like the Chinese style interior. The service is decent and they never pressured up to leave even as it gets crowded. The food portions are very good as you get a lot for each dish. I just wish the food taste better. I ordered some typical Sichuan food such as the dry lot frog but somehow the food is just missing some necessary magic to taste right. I think the restaurant is missing some authentic Sichuan spices so the food just tastes bland. The frog dry pot has decent pieces of frogs but the breading is too much on the frogs and I think the frogs should have been fresh instead of frozen. The pork pieces are cut out a little too big to bring out the right flavor. The veggies are also cut too large. Overall it's an alright restaurant and worth going if you are in Seattle area but if you've had better Sichuan food before it's not worth coming here specifically.

Easily the best Chinese food in the Seattle area!!!! The chicken wing dry pot is so GOOD!! The portion sizes are very reasonable. The large size is enough to feed 3 people comfortably. More favorites are the lamb skewers, green beans and the mung bean cold noodles! I've come here quite a few times and the service is always great. Sometimes the water jars that were already on the table seemed dirty but I asked for a replacement and they would give a new jar.

Ordered golden fried mini buns, cashew prawns, mango coconut sago, spicy beef noodle soup, and spicy fish with tofu. Close to 5 stars. If I went with just my wife and not my kids I wouldn't have ordered nonspicy dishes, and this would have been 5 stars. Fish was fantastic and met all expectations, tofu at the bottom was even better. Noodle soup did not meet my standards even though it was what I was looking forward to the most. Not spicy enough and not fragrant. Mini buns were fried to perfection and I had to fight my kids for a share.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and authentic Sichuan cuisine.
Quite spicy. A number of dishes to choose. Decoration is good. Parking is available free in the same building.
Be the first to ReplyI've come here a few times on and off since they first
I've come here a few times on and off since they first opened and recently I've been less impressed with the flavors. My best description is it's a decent impersonation of authentic Sichuan food: it's got good texture and appearance and is almost there but it's just missing some punch across the board. My favorite thing here used to be the rattan pepper fish. When I ordered it this time it was pretty bland. It had all the right ingredients, the fish had a nice texture, and the portion was generous, but it just tasted...plain. It was short on ginger, garlic, salt, peppers, basically everything that makes this dish tick. I was straight up drinking the broth and eating the peppers and ginger pieces to try to squeeze more flavor out of the dish and that still wasn't enough. It seemed like they skipped a really basic step (frying the peppers in oil to release the numbing spice) because the spice profile just wasn't there. The lamb soup was also a disappointment. For 43 dollars I was expecting at least what was shown on the menu: bone broth with bone in goat meat falling off the bone and leaking marrow like I've had in my hometown. The meat was just slices of rubbery supermarket lamb, and because there is no bone in meat in this thing I can't rule out the possibility of this being made with hot pot mix. For the asking price this dish is straight up bad and not professionally presented. It's possible they've tuned back their flavors to satisfy a more Americanized audience. If that's your kind of thing then this is a manageable introduction to sichuan food, but they hold so much back in terms of kick and flavor it just does not feel like a satisfying experience to me.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing food.
Not sure what the hype is about. I got beef and tofu fish. The beef was very heavy on the sauce and not spicy at all. It was a bit too salty. The fish was not good. Extremely oily and the some fish fillet carried that fishy taste that made me wanna spit it out. Very great service though.
Be the first to ReplyVery friendly staff and the food is authentic Chinese.
I love the toothpick lamb! I have done takeout many times but the restaurant also looks very pleasant.

First time trying this location - just as good as the Bellevue one!We ordered a bunch of takeout for CNY.- house cured pork belly fried rice: has that fresh wok taste you can only get in a restaurant 5/5- salted egg string beans: 5/5- hot and spicy beef and tofu: tender beef and soft tofu, really spicy so just beware if you can't handle. 4.5/5- hot and spicy spare ribs: as described and delicious 4/5- fish fillet in rattan peppers with sour broth: super tender fish and comes with rice noodles, which soak up the broth nicely. Order this if you like numbing spice 5/5- vegetable delight: as described 3.5/5- country stir fry pork belly: didn't expect this one to be spicy. Pork belly was good but the rest is just pepper so was hard to eat! 3/5 only because there were soooo many peppers!
Be the first to ReplyThe foods were VERY salty and too much MSG.
The worst chinese food I have ever tried in Seattle. I always left tips whenever I went to restaurants even if the service and foods were below my expectations. However, the food and service here were way beyond my tolerance, so I didn't leave any tips(trust me, it was my first time that I didn't leave any tip!)After making payment, the waitress yelled at me and really forced me hard to leave tips for them. They held my friend for a few minutes to complain about tips. Tips are NOT mandatory or required for customers to pay to the restaurant. FYI, we called them only once to refill the water while eating. Shame on you!

TLDR: anticipate a waitlist on a Friday night or even a weekend. Generous portions. Hits it home with Szechuan food! Can get hot, spicy, and numbing as one would want. Great service. Large restaurant can seat many people in a comfortable environment. Would come again. Went on a Friday night to Tian Fu. We did have to wait about 30 minutes to get a seat, but the online mobile reserve system lets you leave to do something in the mall or across the street and come back. The three of us are were all seated comfortably at a large table. We ordered the twice cooked pork and the boneless Chongqing Chicken with Chili Pepper. The twice cooked pork was fantastic. It had a great sweet and savory flavor in both the pork and the vegetables I would certainly get it again. The Chongqing Chicken with Chili Pepper brought the tongue numbing experience I was looking for. It is definitely not for everyone because it is very very spicy. But if you do want something very spicy that also is fried this is a good option. Overall the value of our meal split between the three of us (as it is family style) was enough to feed all three of us and more (we took some home). I would be happy to come again and try out something new.

Delicious food! The serving sizes are quite large and we over-ordered because everything looked so good. I cannot fault the food AT ALL. Ambiance is a bit lacking. The food came out surprisingly fast. There were only two people working the very large room, but they managed to take very good care of us in a utilitarian sort of way. Please note that they do not take reservations for parties under 6 people. If there is a wait (and it seems there always is) you will need to register at the kiosk when you come in. No host at the door to assist you with this process, but it's pretty straightforward. We'll be back.

This location is so good! Had a friend from Sichuan recommend it to me so you know its authentic. In particular, the one bit toothpick cumin lab and clear fish soup are must-trys. We also got Taiwanese cabbage, the beef noodles and rice strips and they were all perfect. Since the spice is numbing, even though it is spicy the spice is not as "hot" and the exprience is pleasant and gives a novel cooling after taste. The menu is a contacless smartphone swipe, and you can pay both on your phone or in person. I can't wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyRight near us and almost always amazing.
The boiled fish with tofu is my favorite. Garlic wontons: delicious. String beans, mapo tofu, house-cured pork w/ mushrooms, etc. Really, really good. And nice, friendly service, too (hey, they turned the music down!).Wish the white meat Chongqing chicken was a bit... white-meatier. Maybe my bias. But I feel like I've had better versions of the dish. But overall really, really good. Highly recommended Szechuan and a delight to have in North Seattle.
Be the first to ReplyFood is delicious and portions are generous.
The waitstaff is fantastic. When our waitress asked if we were satisfied with our meal we told her the soup was a bit saltier than in the past and then she immediately asked if we wanted a fresh, less salty soup to take home, along with the saltier one. She told us that the next time we're not entirely happy with a dish to tell her sooner. Not seeing too much service like that these days.
Be the first to ReplyI've been wanting to try Tian Fu for a while now and
I've been wanting to try Tian Fu for a while now and finally made my way over. If you are looking for Sichuan food and can handle it, then this is the perfect place to go. I assumed they would have more variety without the spicy numbness, but I was wrong. There's at least 2 styles of furniture for dining. I preferred not to sit in the giant lower chairs, but that's usually where they would seat parties of 2. I didn't realize they don't provide any menus, and you have to use your phone for the entire process. Otherwise, I would have made sure both our phones were charged. I was afraid our phones would die before we could pay...also online by phone. They don't have an alcohol license yet, so that's something to be aware of for people who want alcohol. The menu is huge, so it helps to know what you want beforehand or look at the menu before. Our main waitress was bilingual, but I feel like it helps to know some Mandarin or Cantonese if you eat here. Even though I know Tian Fu is known for its peppercorn dishes, I wanted to avoid any dishes with peppercorn because of past experiences. We ordered the kung pao chicken, dan dan noodles, and Sichuan Chili Wontons. That was a big mistake! I knew the wontons were going to be spicy, but didn't expect the kung pao chicken and dan dan noodles to have peppercorns. I had to go through so much water and would have gone through a bunch of rice if I ordered some. You definitely need rice when you eat here. I couldn't even eat more than a few bites of the dan dan noodles and spent the rest of the time picking out peppercorns from the dan dan noodles and kung pao chicken dishes. I wish I hadn't let the waitresses mix the dan dan noodles when it was dropped off. It got mixed by 2 different people. It seems like the only dishes that aren't this spicy and/or have peppercorns are vegetable, soup, and/or cold dishes. I wish I had known that beforehand, since the menu doesn't explain that the "Sichuan sauce" is basically peppercorns, but maybe that's assumed. I finished the wontons, but had to pack everything else to take home. The dan dan noodles ended up being more manageable over the next couple days when I ate them cold. For anyone who wants some spiciness, but not the full Sichuan numbing effect, I would recommend the wontons. The reason I'm still rating this pretty high is because despite my issues eating the dishes, they all had strong flavors and were cooked how they should have been. I just didn't realize peppercorn would be an ingredient in each of the dishes I ordered.
Be the first to ReplyI would definitely recommend this place for some good
I would definitely recommend this place for some good sichuan food in the northgate area. 1. the food is very good! authentic Sichuan style chinese food with large portions to share family style. Highly recommend the delicious spicy sautéed beef with fresh peppers and cilantro! Had the sichuan eggplant, sichuan green beans, west lake beef soup, and fish filet, also very good. 2. Very kind and thoughtful hostess and waitress. I enjoyed the service here. 3. The place is open for dine in with covid precautionary measures to make everyone feel safe. All patrons get temperature checks and masks are required to enter. The tables are spread out, clean,Fish FilletFish FilletSichuan Eggplant and they use disposable cups/napkins. All employees seem to be wearing masks as well. They provide ziplock bags to store your mask in while eating. (Very thoughtful gesture)They also have a very convenient QR menu for take out and dine in use. Their online menu is very easy to use and each menu item has a picture! This is very appreciated and helpful for people who aren't familiar with this cuisine.
