The food is always great and the ambience is fun and lively.
It's likely going to be full, leaving you with quite a wait. However, the host staff makes every effort to get you seated as quickly and easily as possible. The bartenders are knowledgeable and patient. It's not ideal for groups, because space is so limited however, It's a great Saturday evening date spot if you're looking for something that feels hip and fun.
Be the first to ReplyIt's not even one star.
Literally the worst place I've ever been to. The front desk and waiters were so rude. And disrespectful. Do not ever go to this place ever.
Be the first to ReplyToro is dark, loud, and intimate.
The music is blasting fun bops, but the tables are incredibly close together. For a dinner for 2 at 7pm on a Saturday, we were gently ushered out around the two hour mark. While I understand that they are turning tables, it would have been nice to have a warning when I made the reservation. Food was good but not amazing. Brussels sprouts were undercooked. For a shellfish allergy, the only seafood options were two raw tuna dishes since the cod croquettes were already sold out. Roasted eggplant was solid. For someone who doesn't eat red meat, there was no token chicken dish on the menu either. Not docking stars for the menu, but more flagging it for others. Would probably just go to Barcelona the next time I'm craving tapas instead of dealing with the chaos of getting a table at Toro.
Be the first to Replyburrata 3.
5/5 - burrata with some sort of citrus fruit? it was pretty good gambas al ajillo 4/5 - grilled really well and has good flavor pulpo a la plantxa 4/5 - octopus cooked really, really well valencia paella 3/5 - not too much flavor, but decent sangria 3/5 Spanish tapas that are pretty good! I'm honestly not sure if Barcelona is better than here. Toro is a bit smaller inside, but similar vibes as Barcelona as it is a bit dark and on the louder side. Nothing overly loud or dark though. Service was very good. Quick to take away plates and good timing in between plates. We had made a reservation ahead of time and had no issues once arriving at the restaurant. For parking, there are plenty of metered spots outside of the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyIt was ok.
I had gone to Barcelona a week before (another tapas restaurant nearby) and it was WAY cheaper with very comparable food and drinks. Basically got the same amount of dishes/# of drinks and toro was almost double the money with tip. Very small and weird all the bar seats were reserved, no room for walk-ins or anyone to wait. The servers also cleared dishes and drinks too quickly when we weren't even done with them etc. I like to load my sauces on, don't steal my plate with it until I'm done. Overall probably wouldn't be back, nothing special.

I stopped into this place on a whim and boy am I glad that I did. Very small place with a TON of flavor. The tostadas with the tuna was insane. Flavorful and fresh and the cilantro pulls the whole thing together. The burrata and radish dish was next and I was pleasantly surprised. Radish can be so bitter, but the burrata mellows it nicely. The nuts and citrus also add a sweet quality that makes this cold dish sing. Next was the flank steak. WOW! I wasn't expecting the punch of flavor this steak had. The star here was absolutely the sauce that accompanies the well seasoned steak. Lastly, the house sent over the deviled eggs. I'm not a big fan of anchovies, but they went well with the eggs and eventually took a back seat to the rest of the flavors of the dish. In addition to great food, the place is very well kept and the staff is incredibly accommodating and amazing. My server was wonderful making great recommendations and providing just enough attention without being bothersome. Overall, Toro was a home run for me. I'm looking forward to getting back there for another great Friday evening. But MAKE RESERVATIONS! It gets packed very fast!

Really enjoyed my trip to Toro! Came with a group of 4 and were able to split a bunch of small plates. The patatas bravas, goat cheese, and empanadas were definitely the highlights for me!! Delicious. We also got the paella, and sliders as well as a pitcher of sangria. My only complaint is that everything was super expensive, but it's such a popular spot so I do get why!

The food was fantastic! Some of the best tapas we've ever had. Our favorites were the filete ibérico and the cachete de res. The deviled eggs are underrated and delicious! Service was very friendly and fast. It has a good ambiance too- my only complaint is that it was a little too dark and a little too loud. Otherwise, we loved it!
Be the first to Replyspectacular.
went for birthday dinner and they gave a special birthday menu - great vibe great food great drinks great atmosphere and more affordable than anticipated
Be the first to ReplyThis was a good restaurant/bar.
The food felt authentic and the paella was so good! I'd go bar. The ambiance was great in the evening, in terms of lighting.

The food was good but the service was horrible and deserves 1 star. We literally argued with our waitress to get all of our food served to us. She claimed we already received dishes that we never received and went so far as to say a leftover piece of bread was one of the dishes we were waiting on. Also, it was my birthday and didn't receive any type of dessert whatsoever. I saw three other birthdays that night and they all got cake and a candle. Waitress knew it was my birthday too because it was addressed at the beginning of the night. Extremely disappointed.

Pricey, small plates are on par, some of the dishes were salty. Drinks and service was outstanding. Difficult to find parking.

Great place for tapas in the South End! It's a bustling, good kind of loud, busy place! Went with a party of 3, had to wait about 10 minutes for a table with a 9 pm reservation. Not much room to wait in the winter if it's cold out because the bar gets crowded. Apparently, you can reserve seats at the bar because we saw two reserved signs at the bar. Toro is a busy busy place! Once we got settled the food and drinks started flowing and all were outstanding! We had the Bruselas(brussel sprouts) and the Burrata, and the Maiz Asado (grilled Street corn). The corn and Brussels were a must! Followed by the $16Bocadillo de Pollo Frito ( chicken sandwich), Cachete de Rey (beef cheeks over beet purée) and the burger sliders. All were fantastic and easily shared. We finished off the meal with a shared Nutella cheesecake which was creamy and light. My only complaint was a very uncomfortable table in the back of the room where we were seated. There was a lower horizontal bar that went right across the front of my shins which was very uncomfortable and I had to shift sideways so it wouldn't be against my legs. My two guests didn't seem to mind it, maybe it was just me!
Be the first to ReplyA delicious selection of tapas, all of the perfect portion.
The interior is cozy and perfect for a romantic night. The wine list is full of options (I tried a delicious orange wine). We ended the night with the Nutella Basque cheesecake, which was divine!
Be the first to ReplyToro was delicious.
We ordered about 8 different plates and all were very good. Some of the portions were smaller than others, like the empanada was more for one person rather than to share. We also got the seafood paella. It was big enough to feed four of us since we ordered tapas. Drinks were also great and the service was A+!

Be the first to Reply5 stars for the service because of how quickly everything
5 stars for the service because of how quickly everything came out. My waitress never told me her name but she was nice enough. 3 stars for the set up. It's super loud inside and it feels like you're right up on other people. Had my personal space invaded by these two really loud girls looking at a dog out the window. 3.5 for the food. I had the Uni Bocadillo, Bone Marrow and Nutella Cheesecake. For the Uni sandwich I wasn't impressed. I loveeeeee Uni and mustard anything but I didn't like the combo together. It had a weird aftertaste. Bread was toasted to perfection however The bone marrow was decent. The bread was grilled perfectly. The oxtail filling inside the bone marrow wasn't really seasoned how I'd like it. I do have to admit though that as a Floridian, I'm used to eating oxtail in the Jamaican or Caribbean style. I might be biased here. The citrus on top was great though! It added a nice refreshing bite and balance. Cheesecake was nothing to write home about. I could've made it at home. I wasn't really getting much of a Nutella flavor, but the hazelnuts kind of sorta made up for it.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite places to eat in Boston still.
Getting a reservation is tough, especially for big groups - plan ahead! Must haves include the street corn (elote), bone marrow, jamon, and burger sliders. The elote is what they're known for. Even after many years later, their corn was as sweet and flavorful as I remembered! Honestly one of the best elote you will ever have. We loved eating jamon in Barcelona and the jamon iberico did not disappoint. The burger sliders were new for me and the burger was perfect medium rare, super juicy and the pickled red onion was a perfect topping. Would get this every single time moving forward. The only dish I would skip out on is the uni sandwich. The bread was so burnt / toasted that it was really hard to eat. I was so close to asking for a new one.. recommend skipping this and trying other things on the menu.Service is amazing, water cup is always full and they're super attentive. Food comes out quick
Be the first to ReplyMy fiance and I came in for date night and definitely see
My fiance and I came in for date night and definitely see why it's so popular. We had 5:00 reservations and when we arrived, there were already regulars lining up outside to snag the tables by the windows when they opened the doors. It's a small restaurant that packs a punch with great food and cocktails and friendly, super knowledgable servers. We ordered six tapas and shared churros at the end, which was plenty for us. My fiance loved the Gambas al Ajillo and my favorite was the Pulpo a la Plantxa. Patatas Bravas is also a must!It filled up quickly and did get quite loud, so if you're looking for an intimate, quiet meal, I might suggest elsewhere. We still had a great experience and would definitely come back.

Amazing plates of food! We went after they had AC issues and had a temp setup in place, but they were kind enough to forewarn us of the inconvenience. It was loud but still super comfortable. The food was fantastic and there wasn't a bad plate to be had.
Be the first to ReplySo here is what I experienced:I walked into your location
So here is what I experienced:I walked into your location actually quite excited because Toro is one of the top rated restaurants. I'm a foodie. So I seek them out. When I walked in the building no one was at the host stand so I went to sit at the bar as I usually do. I order a double Tito's and sprite. Your bartender informers me that I can only do a single. I'm from Florida so I ask if this is a statewide thing, he says yes. Now, I travel for a living. Different city every week. So I don't know the rules I start talking with the ladies beside me asking them about good locations to go in Boston for food and/or late food and night clubs. I finish my drink and the bartender then informs me that he won't serve me any more cocktails. Only food. I ask why. And his response was that other servers or tenders had come up and made comments about me. I walked out for a little bit and then came back to ask for a manager. That is when we spoke outside and discussed all that had transpired. So why was I not served. So as I still have not found out why I was not served. I made a call and spoke with the manager who said an email was sent to me. It is in neither my spam or main email. Apparently they have great food but I never got the chance for to try it because I wasn't allowed to have a cocktail with my dinner. I'm not gonna say it was discriminatory but I'm a gay white male who wears concealer and Mosquera. I had also just gotten off a plane just before that. Im not sure what the issue was but clearly it was enough that they thought something was wrong. A conversation should have been had before making said decision.
Be the first to ReplyLove the white pizza (fried calamari).
Beautiful old space, the cocktail menu can be restrictive and for the portion size some items can be rather pricey.
